CONGRATULATIONS TO: Alison Davis who has just found out that her stories ‘Vanish' and 'Flat-Packed’ have been selected for inclusion in the 2014 edition of Award Winning Australian Writing. Ω The Golden Shovel Anthology: Invitation Dear Poet, I have been using poetry to transform the lives of my students for many years and am co-editing an anthology to be used in classrooms and housed in bookstores, alike. The anthology is based on a form that Terrance Hayes created with his poem, "The Golden Shovel," honouring Gwendolyn Brooks. I worked with Terrance a couple of summers ago and started using the form with students with great success thereafter. Ravi Shankar, Patricia Smith and I are working with an agent on a proposal to approach publishers. I imagine you are aware of the beautiful impact that Gwendolyn Brooks had on the world with her enormous talent and generous spirit, and hope that you will be interested in writing a poem for the anthology.
