Three artistic productions in the space of the Wrocław airport. Presentation of works by Kuba Bąkowski who uses the unused left luggage to show the humanistic dimension of the scientific terms, combining performance with photography. The interdisciplinary installation called “binary Waves” by a Belgian group LAb[au] also combines art with science – 32 cybernetic panels measure the electromagnetic field generated at the airport and transfer it to light, sound, and movement. Canis Lupus by Jakub Jasiukiewicz is an interactive video installation presenting an alternative version of the Wroclaw Airport’s area. Due to the application of modern technology, you can see wolves instead of people walking in the terminal. It will include culinary book fair, meetings with authors, bloggers, and culinary critics – the book will appear in a space unusual for literature. Venue: Main Square Organizers: Promotion Office of the Municipality of Wrocław, European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016

The unique collection of home recipes of the residents of Wrocław with photos, stories, and memories constitutes a post-war history of Wrocław from the inside (of a kitchen) but also an attempt to answering the following question: does the term “Wrocław cuisine” even exist and how can you build identity of residents and the city through cuisine? The premiere gathering all the authors will take place on the stage of Europe on a Fork festival.

In response to great interest in the special edition of the European Literature Night, on 19 June an additional edition of the project will take place. Readers are invited to take part in a walk across the green areas of the Great Island, where in ten places – mainly outdoor – readings of the contemporary European prose will be performed by famous actors and personas from the cultural world. The opus, presented as part of the seat of Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards (12-20 June), refers to the idea of a Play as a vehicle and it transfers viewers to the space of a house, meeting place with others. During the opus, a precisely constructed performative event takes place, a live stream of actions based on work with traditional songs and lyrics, searching for an answer to the question: what do we need to wake up facing ourselves, each other, and the world.

An artistic action somewhere in between a happening, street theatre, and a parade. Organised under the slogan: “We are all made of the same clay.” It is the kind of festival where everything will turn into impeccable whiteness. Costumes, props, vehicles, and most of all the participants of the festival will be covered with a thin layer of clay which when dry will transform us into a perfect form – WHITENESS. The idea comes from the original concept of Bogdan Nowak which is Gliniada; procession of creatures called Glinoludy [Claypeople] – we are Glinoludy, average people who by paining their faces become someone else. ECoC Forum is a series of open debates focused on topics that have arisen while creating and carrying out ECoC Wrocław 2016. The Forum will give you a closer look on the variable programme and a chance to talk about it. As part of the Forum we also talk about EcoC Wrocław 2016 as an initiator of a multi-dimensional change in the city. The meeting on 7 June will be focused on another part of the ECoC Wrocław 2016 Curator on performance – Chris Baldwin, who will let us know about the events that are being prepared for the second part of the year. During the 28 June meeting we will talk about the international help: “Wrocław visiting high society of Europe or as Europe’s High Society?” At the meeting we will remind everyone that one of the pillars of ECoC is the “international character” (next to work for the city and residents); we will try to explain what it actually means in practice. The discussion will be moderated by Katarzyna Janowska and one of her guests will be Paweł Potoroczyn – Director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. Organizer: European Capital of Culture 2016

All this in the unique mood of a night run through the streets of the city.

We will hear the Symphonic Orchestra of the Lower Silesia Philharmonic and to fantastic Polish tenors. On 25 June Katedralna Street will transform into a place of Family Celebrations at Ostrów. There will be tents with infopoints presenting the educational offer, volunteering and info on addiction therapy and prevention. Svea Duwe, visual artist and performer from Dresden, and Fabien Zocco, multimedia artist from Lille, are meeting in Wrocław in order to prepare a multimedia work connected with an exhibition of photos and sculptures. “Fear”, a word which is more and more frequent in news online, is the key motive of Zocco’s work, whereas Duwe will present the effects of projects: “Follow Noweherehorizon” (openness and tolerance versus xenophobic attituted called for in the West, including Wrocław) and “Found Lost Connection” (video-guide). “Cross” is the symbol of the entire exhibition – a crossroad; meeting of ideas of the artists.
