“Going to Lutterworth equipped me with the skills and qualities I needed to really advance myself, both in my studies and in all other aspects of my school and extra-curricular activities. I had great support from my subject teachers.” Nathan Lawson studying History at University of Sheffield

CURRICULUM – MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICES We are proud of the extensive curriculum choice offered at Lutterworth College, and this is recognised by Ofsted as an outstanding element of our provision. We recognise that our offer must reflect the needs of the local community while appreciating that a significant number of students travel from all over the county to access our provision. At Lutterworth College, Sixth Form students are offered a wide range of A level & BTEC courses. The curriculum is reviewed each year to ensure that we explore new qualifications and make decisions that reflect the needs of our students to prepare them most effectively for higher education and employment. We are moving rapidly to the position where the majority of Sixth Form students will study three linear Level 3 qualifications which will be formally examined and certificated at the end of the second year. All Lutterworth College students receive effective information, advice and guidance prior to conditional offers to ensure the right choices are made.

to ensure that they are best placed for A level study. However, our minimum entry requirements are 5 A*-C grades at GCSE including English Language & Mathematics. While not necessary, we recommend that students who have eight top GCSE grades choose at least one of the ‘facilitating’ subjects from the Russell Group recommended list. These include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English Literature, History, Geography and any Classical or Modern Foreign Language. Students who are studying an A level Science but not studying Mathematics at A level will attend additional Mathematics provision to ensure the best possible outcomes. We encourage you to read the subject information provided very carefully with a forensic focus on entry requirements. Following the Sixth Form evening, we will publish the subject information sheets and this prospectus on the Sixth Form area of the college website.

Our Level 3 courses are supplemented by the Extended Project Qualification in the second year of Sixth Form for those students interested accessing the very best competitive universities. To access and be successful on the new Level 3 qualifications, students will need to have a broad portfolio of GCSE qualifications. We recommend that students aim in Year 11 for eight good GCSE grades (or equivalent)
