Welcome

from the Head When you enter our loving school, consider yourself one of the special members of an extraordinary family. Choosing a school is an important decision. It builds the foundations of your child’s learning that will shape them for the rest of their life. At Bozeat Primary School we are committed to providing the highest quality of education from age 3 right through to age 11, giving our children the very best start in their educational life and preparing them for their next stages of learning. We provide a calm, safe environment where children are encouraged to reach their full potential, recognise their value and where each child contributes to make our school such a wonderful place to be. Our values are underpinned by three words –

Believe, Achieve, Succeed.

We have aspirations for our children to fulfil their academic potential and develop into successful lifelong learners. In addition, we endeavour that our children will possess high levels of social and emotional intelligence, so they are well placed to succeed in the future and take their place as well rounded, active and productive members of society. We have a well qualified and dedicated team of staff and Governors, friendly and positive parents and a wider community who are incredibly supportive of the school. Our school is at the heart of local community and we actively seek positive partnerships with all who can help us develop. As you read through this prospectus I am confident that you will see that we are a school with a difference. On behalf of myself and all the staff we look forward to welcoming you to our family.

Curriculum Implementation: At Bozeat Primary School, we provide a broad and balanced, knowledge and skills-based curriculum, with a fun and creative edge. Teachers deliver inspirational lessons using progressive, challenging objectives that build on prior knowledge. Understanding develops so that every child can achieve their aspirational potential. Our broad and balanced curriculum, combined with enrichment opportunities, enables pupils to graduate as well rounded individuals and ready for their next stage of learning. We adapt our curriculum to meet the needs of its learners and place equal importance on non-academic skills, which we believe help to prepare our pupils for life outside of the Bozeat family. Our curriculum gives children the opportunity to develop a rich and deep subject knowledge, learn within a coherent and progressive framework, develop and demonstrate their creativity, and experience the challenge and enjoyment of learning. Our curriculum enables children to make choices about things that are important to them, take part in age-appropriate discussions and activities and make a positive contribution to the school and local community. We make use of specialist teachers in Languages, Music, Maths and Physical Education to ensure our children receive the very best opportunities to help them get ahead.

Our School At Bozeat Primary School we are very proud of our school and all it has to offer. We are a small village primary school where community and a sense of family matters. Our parents describe the school as “Amazing”, “Nurturing”, “Engaging”, “Caring” and “Happy”. Located in the countryside with views of open fields, our outdoor learning environment plays as important a role in our children’s development as the indoor learning environment and includes a dedicated forest school area, tree house activity trail and outdoor gym. As a school we have committed to continually investing and developing our school environment and facilities to ensure that our children have the highest quality learning environment. We are passionate about learning and our dedicated creative teachers and support staff feel it is important to continually challenge our children so that they achieve their full potential and the confidence and self belief needed for the move up to secondary school. We want our children to grow into outstanding learners with the skills and confidence to take on all challenges that the 21st century may bring. At age 11, the majority of our children move up to Wollaston Secondary School. Bozeat Primary School is currently a named designated contributory primary school for Wollaston School and the two schools work in partnership to ensure a seamless transition from primary to secondary school.

Pastoral Care & Our Children’s Well Being We are a fully inclusive school and we welcome every single child, whatever their background or additional needs. We are proud to offer strong support for children who require it - academically, medically, socially or emotionally. We believe that every child matters in our school and strive to ensure they fulfil their potential. Within school we have a qualified ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) who’s role in school is to support the children’s well-being and emotions in a safe, calm and quiet space.

We cover a range of programs depending on the children’s individual needs. This begins with the children being able to recognise their emotions and those of others. We then look at ways to best deal with them both appropriately and independently. Some of the topics are self-esteem, managing strong feelings, social skills, respect, anxiety and friendships.

Pre-School We are exceptionally proud of our Early Years setting and our approach to Teaching and Learning. We encourage and enable all of our children to be independent, well-rounded, curious individuals. We welcome children into our Pre-School from the term after their 3rd birthday. Our priority is the children’s social and emotional wellbeing and developing confidence, as without this, we can’t start to enable a life-long love of learning. Our highly qualified and experienced staff hold the same shared belief that all children have their preferred way of learning.

9

Believe • Achieve • Succeed

Therefore, we do not believe that every child should fit the curriculum; the curriculum should fit every child. We pride ourselves on ensuring that our themed curriculum captures every child’s imagination and brings it to life the way they see it. Engaging with their personal interests effortlessly inspires and motivates every child to achieve their true potential.

Our Community All of the adults at Bozeat, whether they are staff members, parents, carers, governors, support workers or specialist providers, are role models to our children.
