Sponsorship Packet The Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MAEOPP) will hold the 41st Professional Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, November 15-18, 2015 with expected attendance over 450 members. The conference will feature keynote speakers discussing innovative and research-based concepts to improve program management, informative workshops and networking sessions that build capacity to complete program objectives and evaluate program effectiveness, dynamic motivational speakers that will inspire life-changing work, and opportunities to celebrate student achievement and success. MAEOPP's Professional Conference is one of the largest gatherings of College Access and Success/TRIO professionals in the Mid-West and offers a great value in education opportunity program professional development and networking.

What is the Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel? The Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MAEOPP) is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit consortium of professionals with the specific purpose of leveling the playing field of educational opportunity for first generation, low income, and disabled students. MAEOPP is the representative body of those persons who have an active interest in or who are professionally involved in broadening accessibility to and success in formal postsecondary education. Formally established in 1975, MAEOPP advocates on behalf of those persons least likely to enroll in and obtain a college degree at our nation's higher education institutions and is a member organization of the internationally recognized Council for Opportunity in Education (COE).
Who are MAEOPP Members? MAEOPP has a membership base of approximately 900 members in the ten state region and is arguably the largest in the nation. Members are persons involved in the work of college access and success, are working in roles where their job responsibilities support TRIO or TRIO eligible students, or professionals who support the work of college access and success.
What is TRIO? The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO includes eight programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to postbaccalaureate programs.
What services does MAEOPP provide? Professional Development and Training The MAEOPP Annual Conference, usually held in November, provides the membership with opportunities to sharpen their skill sets in administration, student service delivery, program evaluation and leadership. Opportunities for trainings on specific program components are available as well. MAEOPP also offers specialized development thru the Emerging Leaders Institute and the Institute of Advancement of Leadership Management. Webinars and networking are also provided.
Student Support MAEOPP also extends service to students served by its professionals. Student Leadership Conferences (McNair Scholars Research Symposium, MAEOPP Young Women in STEM and the MAEOPP 100: Young Men of Excellence Conferences) and a robust scholarship program run by the MAEOPP Educational Foundation are key to this strategy.
Advocacy MAEOPP members are encouraged to actively advocate on behalf of program participants. Advocacy is the work of sharing the good news of what TRIO and the college access/success movement means to America.
