coaching staff
bryan davis
head coach • second season
Bryan Davis was named as the ninth head coach in Wright State men’s soccer history on May 1, 2009. In Coach Davis’ first season at the helm, the Raiders went 6-10-1 and finished the season by winning four of their last six matches, highlighted by a 1-0 victory against 2008 Horizon League tournament champion and NCAA Tournament participant Loyola. Along with this on field growth, WSU experienced success on the recruiting trail. Davis’ 2009 recruiting class highlighted freshman defender Brad Bamberger,
who was selected to the Horizon League’s All-Newcomer team. Davis came to WSU after four seasons at George Washington University. While at GWU, he worked with the squad’s goalkeepers and assisted head coach George Lidster with recruiting, training, scheduling, budgeting, fundraising, alumni outreach and monitoring the team’s academic progress. A major component of Davis’ duties at GWU was heading up the recruiting efforts which landed the Colonials with the 27th nationally ranked recruiting class in 2008, according to College Soccer News. The highest-ranked class in George Washington history included Brice Carr (US U17 Residency Program), and Yoni Berhanu (2008 Atlantic 10 rookie of the year). Davis’ recruiting success, though, didn’t start with that class as one of his earliest recruits
at GWU, Andrew Stadler, on his way to being named NSCAA First Team All-Region in 2008 and 2009, was ranked in the top ten for NCAA Division I scoring in 2008 with 14 goals and ranked in the top 5 in Division I soccer in 2009 in Goals per game with 13 goals in 13 games played. Davis arrived at GWU from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he served as the head coach of Waukesha West High School from 2003-2004. With Davis at the helm, Waukesha West earned a top-five state ranking in 2004 and a ranking of 12th in the region. In Davis’ first season at Waukesha West, he mentored former Colonials Greg Yahr, Thomas Stuber and Mike Briscoe. Davis also has coaching experience with several Olympic Development Programs across the country. The Wisconsin native was on the staff of the Virginia ODP from 2005-2008, was a coach for
Wisconsin ODP in 2004 and is now involved with Ohio South ODP. Davis also worked with the Region I ODP program after coaching in Region II in 2005. In addition, Davis serves as the director of the Elite Team Camp and the Elite Goalkeeper Academy. Recently, Davis was also head coach for the U18 Potomac Academy Team and on staff with the Potomac Soccer Club. His U-15 boys’ team finished third in the nation at the 2005 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. Davis played for the University of Cincinnati in 1997 and the University of Wisconsin in 1998, graduating from Wisconsin in 2001. Davis currently holds his NSCAA National and Advanced National Diplomas, NSCAA Level I and Level II Goalkeeper Diplomas, USSF Goalkeeper License, and USSF “B” License.
Trevor Gorman
assistant coach • First season
Trevor Gorman was named an assistant coach for the Wright State men’s soccer team in July, 2010. Gorman came to WSU from Dartmouth, where he was an assistant coach from 2007-09. During his tenure, Dartmouth appeared in three straight NCAA
Tournaments and won an Ivy League title in 2008. The Big Green posted a 32-17-6 mark while Gorman helped 11 players garner All-Ivy League recognition 18 times, including First Team All-Ivy League goalkeeper Sean Milligan in 2008. “Trevor’s experience and soccer knowledge will greatly help the Raider program continue our growth we have experienced over the past year,” Davis said. “He has been there as a player and as a coach and knows what it takes for us to achieve at the highest level. I am very pleased to welcome him to our Wright State family.”
Gorman came to Dartmouth from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, where he completed his master’s degree in sports administration in 2007. He is a 2005 graduate of Penn State University, where he played for his father, Barry Gorman, on the Nittany Lions soccer team. While pursuing his degree at UNC, Gorman worked for the Tar Heels’ sports marketing division and his responsibilities included contract fulfillment, promotions and the Tar Heel Sports Network. He also coached with the Sanford Area Soccer League in 2006 and the Triangle United Soccer Club from 2005 until his move to
Hanover. He has worked numerous soccer camps including Penn State, Clemson and UNC. Gorman also has a sports publicity background, having worked for the sports information office at Penn State, assisting with publicity, media relations and advertising. He was a public address announcer for NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cups and the ACC men’s and women’s soccer tournaments. Gorman also worked as a sideline reporter for Fox Soccer Channel’s college soccer broadcasts. Gorman holds a NSCAA Premier Coaching Diploma.

jamie lieberman
assistant coach • first season
Jamie Lieberman began his college coaching career with Wright State men’s soccer team in March 2010 as an assistant coach/goalkeeper coach. “Jamie is a fantastic addition to our program. He brings to Wright State a great wealth of knowledge about the goalkeeping position,” said head coach Bryan Davis. “He has been
mentored for many years by the best goalkeeper coach I know in Stan Anderson (Associate Head Coach Marquette University). This knowledge will help our goalkeepers continue their tremendous growth they had over the past season. Jamie also fits our coaching staff philosophy very well as he has a great work ethic and passion in everything he does. We, as a staff, are excited about the impact he will bring.” The Wisconsin native recently finished his playing career with professional indoor soccer powerhouse, Milwaukee Wave (MISL). Lieberman was the starting goalkeeper for the reserve squad, capturing a League Championship, President’s Cup
Tournament Championship, and the President’s Cup Tournament MVP honor. Lieberman played collegiately for the University of WisconsinParkside, which has had 30 consecutive winning seasons and 14 consecutive conference tournament appearances. As a freshman, Lieberman was ranked #26 nationally among goalkeepers in goals against average and #1 in the conference as he helped his team to a #7 national ranking, the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship match, and the NCAA Tournament. As a senior, the Rangers were ranked #22 in the country while Lieberman was named to the NSCAA Wisconsin All-State Team,
team MVP, and finished his career seventh in program history in saves and 12th in program history in goals against average. Lieberman played high school soccer for The Prairie School from 2001 to 2004 and was named captain for the 2003 and 2004 campaigns. In his senior season, Lieberman posted 18 shutouts in 22 matches while helping his team to conference, tournament, and state championship titles. For his efforts, he was named all-state, all-area, all-county and all-conference. Lieberman currently holds his USSF National “D” License and NSCAA National Diploma.
