Fred. Olsen Fly-Cruises
WORLDWIDE 2017-19
Chairman’s Welcome It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to our fantastic holiday experiences for 2017-19. Within the following pages you’ll find our most extensive fly-cruise programme ever, with unique new holidays reaching the most spellbinding sites on Earth. There’s a world of choice, designed to exhilarate you every step of the way. Take the islands of the Indian Ocean for example. One of my favourite new destinations, they are filled with enriching experiences; I am very pleased that you can now enjoy cruising here too. The advantage of these innovative, newly-created sailings of the Maldives, Mauritius, Madagascar and South Africa is that along with stunning beaches you can discover faraway cultures, engrossing history, volcanic landscapes and spectacular wildlife, including chances to encounter ‘the big five’ of the animal kingdom. In late 2018 the recently upgraded Black Watch tours the world in style. Choose your favourite part to discover. Will it be the fireworks bursting over Sydney Opera House at New Year? Spying Komodo Dragons in their natural habitat? Walking the outstanding ruins of empire at Ephesus? Or admiring the spectacular beauty of Thailand’s James Bond Island? Within this brochure you’ll find exotic destinations galore, including Mexico and Cuba, New Zealand, the Mediterranean, Costa Rica, the Canary Islands and the Caribbean. Step aboard for the Amazon Rainforest, Table Mountain, the Great Barrier Reef and the 365 beautiful beaches of Antigua… the list goes on and on. Our passion for showing our guests the very best of every part of the world has led to the creation of this truly incomparable selection of fly-cruises. Join us for an adventure you’ll never forget. Welcome aboard!
Fred. Olsen Jnr. Chairman

The Fred. Olsen difference We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel. They might not be as new as some ships, but we don’t automatically believe that younger is better; there’s a lot to be said for having the benefit of experience. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.
Cruise with real confidence, with Fred. Olsen’s Enjoyment Promise**
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all the facilities you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.
If you favour a welcoming, home-from-home atmosphere, friendly, smiling staff and like-minded fellow guests with whom you can share a good story or two, you’ll likely find Fred. Olsen to your taste. You don’t have to take our word for it though: we’re so confident that you’ll like cruising with us that we offer our Enjoyment Promise as standard**.
With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds of others – not thousands – giving you a much more authentic experience. Whichever part of the world you wish to discover, you can do it whilst enjoying the ample space and comfort of your ‘home-from-home’ at sea.
Simply book at least 12 weeks in advance on cruises of five nights or more and if you find that it’s not for you within a couple of days of sailing, just let us know and we promise to arrange and pay for your flight back to the UK from the next port and repay the cost of your cruise (you must read the full Terms and Conditions before booking). So your relaxation starts the moment you choose Fred. Olsen.
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience. Step aboard and find out why year after year more than half our guests have travelled with Fred. Olsen before.

**The Enjoyment Promise excludes Party Nights and cruises of 4 nights or less. The Promise only applies to bookings made for departures more than 12 weeks ahead. The Enjoyment Promise only applies to passengers who have contracted with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines (“FOCL”) and excludes cruises on vessels operated by FOCL but booked through 3rd party operators. Should you wish to invoke the Enjoyment Promise, you will need to inform Guest Relations within 48 hours of sailing at the latest. FOCL will arrange and pay for a flight and/or transport back to the UK. FOCL will refund the cruise cost only but will not refund other costs. E&OE.
Award-winning holidays We always aim to give you the holiday of a lifetime – but our guests and travel industry experts are the best judges of how we’re doing. That’s why it’s so pleasing that the dedication and hard work of our staff has been recognised in many awards in recent years, including ‘Best Itineraries’ for two years in a row. Most importantly, in over 18,000 reviews from past guests, 95% rated us Excellent or Good, with independent review site Feefo awarding us a Gold Trusted Merchant Accreditation – in recognition of our excellence in customer service – for the third year in a row. Perhaps that’s why people who try us once so often choose to cruise with us again.

Your choice of rooms and suites When it comes to accommodation, there’s a range of different options, so you can pick what suits you best. An Interior Room has all the creature comforts you’d expect, while a standard Ocean View Room is great if you want to throw back the curtain and see your new destination each day, or simply admire the beautiful blue sea through your window or porthole. For a distinctly superior experience, a suite allows you to indulge in a little more relaxation with more space, so you can really unwind in style. Many suites come with Suite Dreams benefits too, including canapés, a welcome bottle of sparkling wine, complimentary pressing of formal wear and a discount on laundry services – even more valuable on longer adventures. For more information on what's included, please visit fredolsencruises.com
Food you’ll fall in love with Dining on board is sure to be one of the highlights of your holiday, combining the friendly, personal Fred. Olsen service with a range of mouthwatering options, all planned to perfection. After a day seeing the best of the world, the award-winning cuisine is a treat to look forward to, whether you’re selecting sumptuous dishes from the à la carte menu, or raiding the late-night buffet! The menus include vegetarian dishes and a range of healthier alternatives too – you may well find it hard to choose. Should you have any special dietary requests, simply let us know at the time of booking. We’ll do our utmost to make sure your needs are met wherever we can. Adding an extra special touch, The Grill on Boudicca and Braemar, and The Black Watch Room and The Poolside on Black Watch offer superb speciality dining experiences for a small supplement. Spaces at these restaurants are limited too, so dinner must be booked on board in advance. On all ships Premium Traditional Afternoon Tea is available for you to indulge in, for just £7.95 per person. It is heartily recommended to anyone who enjoys being spoilt. Prices
are correct at time of going to print, but may be subject to change.
Health & well-being Cruising with Fred. Olsen is all about well-deserved indulgences and relaxing every step of the way, whether you’re reclining on a sun lounger, immersing yourself in your latest read or watching the world go by from a bubbling Jacuzzi. There are also plenty of ways to help you stay in shape, including a Fitness Centre, swimming pools and fitness classes. And you can even walk a mile breathing in the refreshing sea air; aboard Boudicca it’s just five laps of the open deck. If you would like a little extra pampering, the revitalising Atlantis Spa is the perfect place to rest those weary legs after all your exploration. There’s a wide choice of treatments to suit you, from manicures, to hot stone massages, to seaweed wraps. All packages and treatments at the Atlantis Spa are payable in addition to your cruise price.
Days to inspire, evenings to remember Your on board experience is sure to be just as fun, memorable and enriching as your time ashore. During the day, you’ll find ballroom dancing lessons, theatre workshops, photography talks or entertaining quizzes, to name just a few examples. On top of that, enjoy insightful lectures from guest speakers and experts in their field – previous subjects have ranged from wine tasting to piloting Concorde. On each cruise there’ll be different activities, so check out the Daily Times on board. How much or how little you join in is entirely up to you. When night falls, enjoy the sparkle of cabaret, comedy and music as the evenings come alive with orchestras, pianists, musicians, entertainers and shows. Simply sit back and savour it all, while you enjoy your favourite tipple, or a cocktail made just for you.

Flexible flight options All prices shown in this brochure are based on either cruise only or fly-cruise packages. With cruise only, you’ll need to arrange your own flights and transfers to/from the ship. This option means you’ll be able to select your own flight times and the departure airport that suits you best. If you’d prefer complete peace of mind, knowing that everything is arranged for you, you can book the fly-cruise option with Fred. Olsen, which includes flights and transfers to/from the ship. Please note that cruise durations and departure/arrival dates shown in this brochure are based on cruise only. Fly-cruise departure dates and durations may change depending on flight timings, which were not confirmed at time of going to print. Please see terms and conditions on the back cover for more information relating to flights and transfers.
Extending your holiday Take your fly-cruise further with a Fred. Olsen holiday extension, giving you even more time to explore a destination in real depth, with all the arrangements carefully planned for you too. These optional add-ons are available at the start or end of a wide variety of cruises. Each holiday extension is featured on the appropriate cruise pages within the relevant regional sections of this brochure. Holiday extension programmes are payable in addition to the cruise price. Holiday extension programmes have been based on a minimum of 20 participants per programme. Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines reserves the right to cancel at least 90 days prior to departure if minimum numbers are not achieved. Named hotels may be subject to change. Transfers are by coach and unfortunately are not suitable for those who are unable to manage the steps on/off the vehicle. Packages may be withdrawn or amended at any time without prior notice. Content of programmes is subject to change due to weather or other operational reasons.
Enhancing your experience ashore with Fred. Olsen’s Shore Tours The cruise pages within this brochure feature a selection of the many diverse tours we offer to enhance your cruise experience. To make things easier, we’ve picked out the highlight Shore Tours and listed them as ‘Recommended experiences’ – chosen to give you the real essence of a particular cruise. All Shore Tours are subject to charge, service operation and availability. Shore Tours are released for sale a few months in advance of cruise departure. Please register an e-mail address via our website to ensure you get the best choice.
Formal nights and what to wear Depending on the length of your holiday, there will be one or more formal nights whilst you are on board. Men should wear either a dinner jacket or dark suit and tie. Ladies have a range of options, from a cocktail-style dress to a full-length ball gown. If you’d prefer not to dress up at all, the casual dining restaurant on each ship has a relaxed smart casual dress code every evening. The number of planned formal nights is given on the following cruise pages as a guide. These may be subject to change; final details will be advised prior to your departure. Other nights have a smart casual dress code. For men, a pair of trousers, chinos or smart (dark) jeans, coupled with a polo shirt or shirt is perfectly acceptable, though some guests prefer to wear a jacket and/or tie. Ladies’ dress can range from tailored trouser suits or stylish dresses to casual separates or summer dresses. In the daytime casual wear is perfectly acceptable. Many guests opt for shorts and t-shirt or polo shirt in sunnier climes, a pair of lightweight trousers and a sweater or jacket for cooler temperatures.

Africa & the Indian Ocean Islands
Africa & the Indian Ocean Islands Discovering some of the most exotic, far-flung places on Earth doesn’t have to be long-winded. Head straight out to your destination of choice on a fly-cruise to Africa and the Indian Ocean islands. With diverse cultures, historic landmarks and amazing wildlife, the rewards are endless. An island-hopping adventure taking in the Indian Ocean’s most fascinating, hard-toreach sites is the stuff dreams are made of. A thrilling helicopter ride over Réunion Island… indulgent relaxation on the powder-white sands of the Seychelles… searching for lemurs and giant tortoises… snorkelling in the Indian Ocean’s largest lagoon: you’ll create lasting memories at every turn. In this section you’ll find choice after choice, including an unforgettable 33-night voyage incorporating islands of the Mediterranean, and two festive sailings, complete with all the trimmings on board your home-fromhome at sea on Christmas Day. The many highlights of South Africa also feature. If you’d prefer to explore this breathtaking country in more depth, join Boudicca on a ‘Cape Town Cruise Safari’ and enjoy a raft of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Top of the list is undoubtedly a potential encounter with the legendary ‘Big Five’ on a game reserve tour. Also heartily recommended are chances to learn about traditional Zulu life, ascend Table Mountain in a cable car, explore the picturesque Garden Route, see penguins at Boulders Beach, and toast the sunset from Signal Hill with champagne and oysters. There’s even an African journey with a twist, departing February 2018 from Cape Town. You’ll cruise the west coast of the continent to Senegal, stopping at Walvis Bay – gateway to the world’s oldest desert, the Namib – and the prison island of Napoleon, impossibly remote St Helena, en route. From Senegal’s capital, Dakar, you can witness one of nature’s oddities, the spectacular ‘Pink Lake’.

Stopping first in Cádiz, take the chance to explore the pretty historic quarter, or perhaps take a trip to neighbouring Jerez – sherry capital of the world – before heading on to a string of three beautiful Mediterranean islands. Enjoy Mallorca’s stunning scenery during a day in Palma; wander around the walled city and Grand Harbour of Valletta, Malta; and delve into the ancient Greek history of Crete. You’ll then reach historic Egypt. First up is a navigation of the remarkable Suez Canal, before the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh presents breathtaking beaches and coral reefs. A stop in Salalah, Oman, will allow time to see the eye-catching Sultan Qaboos Mosque and to immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the atmospheric Al Husn Souk. The idyllic islands of the Indian Ocean are next on the itinerary, beginning with beautiful Zanzibar in Tanzania. An overnight stay means you’ll have time to see many of the sights, most of which can be found in the historic Stone Town area. The old fort, the harrowing slave chambers, the 19th century Anglican Church and the Sultana Market are all worth

exploring. Alternatively, relax on the white-sand beaches or tour to the intriguing and tranquil Prison Island, home to giant tortoises. Next you’ll visit UNESCO-listed Mozambique Island, a relatively undiscovered tourist destination where every street, house and brick has its own faded history. At just 3km long, the island is like an open-air museum. There’s no doubt a visit here will leave you feeling as though you’ve stepped back in time. A call into Toamasina follows. Experience typical Madagascan wildlife and the local way of life. Visit the Ivoloina Zoological Park for the chance to see lemurs, tortoises, chameleons, snakes, frogs and more, or explore the local attractions, which include the main thoroughfare – Boulevard Joffre – and market stalls selling vanilla, spices, fruit and souvenirs. Finally, after immersing yourself in the diverse landscapes of Réunion Island on a hike or exhilarating helicopter tour, you’ll end this epic escapade with an overnight stay in Port Louis, gateway to the stunning national parks and gardens of Mauritius.

This exotic journey of discovery begins in Port Louis, a city famed for cultural and economic diversity. To see a colourful snapshot of everyday Mauritian life, make sure to head to the lively covered market, explore the Stamp Museum, and marvel at the city’s religious structures – from the impressive Kaylasson Temple to the beautiful Chinese Pagoda. Venture a little further afield and you can explore some of the island’s breathtaking natural wonders, such as the Trou-aux-Cerfs Volcano and the ‘Seven Coloured Earth’ sand dunes; or opt for a tour to Casela Nature Park for the chance to walk with lions. Then it’s on to the Seychelles, sailing first to Praslin Island. Here you can explore the UNESCO-listed forest of Vallée de Mai in search of huge Coco de Mer nuts and rare Black Parrots, or simply relax in paradise on spellbinding Anse Lazio, a beach that’s regarded as one of the world’s best. That’s all before a magical scenic sailing past Silhouette Island at sunset – a simply unforgettable spectacle.
Zanzibar’s fascinating history is waiting to be explored during your day-long call to this beautiful Tanzanian island. Most of the main attractions can be found in the historic Stone Town area. The old fort, the harrowing slave chambers, the 19th century Anglican Church and Sultana Market are all well worth seeking out. Alternatively, relax on the white-sand beaches and snorkel the protected barrier reefs, or tour to the intriguingly-titled Prison Island. On Christmas Eve you can spend a relaxing day strolling around the dusty streets of charming Mamoudzou, or perhaps take in the highlights of Mayotte, including the Indian Ocean’s largest lagoon. It’s home to tropical fish, dolphins and over 250 different species of hard coral. Christmas Day and Boxing Day will be spent at sea, before Boudicca docks in Port Réunion, the gateway to Réunion Island’s sweeping volcanic landscapes, dense forests and beautiful waterfalls. Opt for an awe-inspiring helicopter tour for breathtaking views into the ravine of the island’s active volcano and across the surrounding countryside.

Madagascar
The Mauritian capital of Port Louis, a city famed for its mix of cultures and religions, is the perfect start to your holiday. From here you can visit the dramatic Trou-aux-Cerfs Volcano, sacred lake and the unique ‘Seven Coloured Earth’ sand dunes; get up close to lions at the Casela Nature Park; or explore the stunning Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens. Réunion Island follows, with spectacular volcanic landscapes, lush valleys and cascading waterfalls. You’ll then reach Toliara in Madagascar – a first for Fred. Olsen. Next stop is the lively Mozambican capital, Maputo. Highlights include the iconic Central Train Station, the Natural History Museum and the Eiffel-designed Casa de Ferro ‘Iron House’ – before the South African leg of your voyage begins in Richards Bay. Visit the Dumazulu cultural village to experience authentic, friendly Zulu hospitality and learn about the
traditional arts, crafts and ways of life of the Zulu Kingdom; or opt for an unforgettable experience at the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, home to elephants, lions, giraffes, rare White Rhinos and much more. Continuing on, you’ll arrive in Port Elizabeth; a perfect stop for even more wildlife adventures at the nearby Addo Elephant Park and the game reserves of Kariega and Lalibela. Nature and spectacular scenery await you at your next port of call, Mossel Bay. Take a boat tour around Seal Island, which is populated by over 2,500 Cape Fur Seals; visit Knysna, on the picturesque Garden Route; or travel to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world. The cruise comes to an end with almost two days in Cape Town, before you head for home. Africa & the Indian Ocean Islands
Discover distant destinations galore via the comfort of Boudicca on this epic three-week adventure. You’ll be taken on an unforgettable journey all the way from the captivating city of Cape Town to history-packed Senegal and Cape Verde. En route, enjoy rare calls into the beautifully isolated islands of St Helena and Ascension, while two days in Namibia are the chance to see fascinating wildlife and the world’s oldest desert, the Namib. Ascension Island
Cape Town
Boudicca will be awaiting your arrival in Cape Town, where you’ll have an evening and a full day to explore. From the stunning scenery at Cape Point and the penguins at Boulders Beach, to iconic Table Mountain – there’s plenty to see here. The chance to visit Robben Island to learn of Nelson Mandela’s inspirational life is also recommended. In contrast to this bustling capital city, the town of Lüderitz appears almost lost in time, nestled between the dusty Namib wilderness and the South Atlantic coast. On the outskirts lies the ghost town of Kolmanskop, an abandoned village that makes for a fascinating visit. Shortly after you’ll arrive in Walvis Bay, a haven for wildlife – the natural lagoon is often dotted with flush pink flamingos. It’s also the gateway to the world’s oldest desert, the Namib: a vast, unforgiving landscape, home to colossal sand dunes and fascinating endemic species. A call into Jamestown on the volcanic island of St Helena follows. History enthusiasts will enjoy hearing of the island’s links with Napoleon – the French emperor was exiled here until his death. Then it is on
towards Georgetown on remote Ascension Island. A visit here is the chance to uncover a host of natural wonders, from the verdant Green Mountain to turtles nesting on the quiet beaches. The delights of Senegal and its exuberant capital, Dakar, await you next. Venture to UNESCO-listed Gorée and unearth the island’s haunting slave-trade past; or visit a curiosity of nature – Lake Retba – aptly-named ‘the Pink Lake’ due to its unusual colour, created by micro-organisms in the water. On to Cape Verde, home to diverse landscapes, colonial monuments and thriving esplanades. First up is the bustling capital, Praia, where you can unearth artefacts at the Archaeology Museum; browse market stalls; or visit the town of Cidade Velha – once a major slave-trading post. Then in Mindelo, visit the Community Art Museum which exhibits the island’s creative side and head to Camara Square to admire the historic church and colourful vegetable market. After all the exploring, unwind with two days at sea before your holiday concludes in Tenerife.

Africa & the Indian Ocean Islands
An abundance of incredible experiences awaits you on this cruise to the Indian Ocean, where well-known holiday destinations are perfectly blended with undiscovered gems. From picture-perfect beaches in the Seychelles, to the lush, volcanic interior of Réunion Island, a contrast of landscapes awaits your discovery. There’s also the opportunity to explore tropical forests, seek out giant land tortoises, snorkel coral reefs and discover diverse cultures.
After joining Boudicca in Colombo you’ll head southwest to the slender chain of coral islands that make up the Maldives. First stop is Uligamu, where you can observe local Maldivian life and browse the markets, before a visit to the capital, Malé, showcases a more energetic side to the Maldives. The city’s bustling streets lined with skyscrapers blanket the entire islet that they sit on. From here you can tour to the gorgeous tropical island resort of Kuda Bandos; feel the sand between your toes on a stroll along the picture-perfect, white-sand beaches. Next begins your exploration of the Seychelles, a stunning archipelago made up of 115 islands. With a full day on Mahé and almost two days on Praslin, you’ll have time to tick off the unmissable ‘must-do’ experiences. Explore the tropical forest of Vallée de Mai, home to huge Coco de Mer nuts and rare Black Parrots; encounter Moyenne Island’s famous giant land tortoises; and take your pick from the many quintessential Seychelles beaches, most of which boast powder-white sand lapped by crystal-clear waters. Some of the best can be found on La Digue Island, while the beaches of Anse Lazio and Cote d’Or
are equally appealing. Sandwiched between these calls is an unforgettable sailing past tropical Silhouette Island. Réunion Island, a republic of France, follows. The sweeping volcanic landscapes, dense forests and beautiful waterfalls are just begging to be explored, as are the southern villages which appear to be frozen in time. The charming Creole houses here remain as they were fifty years ago. Opt for an aweinspiring helicopter tour for breathtaking views into the ravine of the island’s active volcano and across the surrounding countryside. Last, but not least, you’ll have a day to explore Port Louis. Here you can sample the cultural diversity of the Mauritian way of life, from tea tasting in the beautiful Chinese Pagoda, to exploring the colourful central market. Outside the city you’ll find the stunning Pamplemousses Botanical Garden and the Casela Nature Park. Alternatively, a tour of the south of the island showcases breathtaking natural wonders, including the Trou-aux-Cerfs Volcano and the ‘Seven-Coloured Earth’ sand dunes.

a slice of the paradise lifestyle.
Callao is not only the starting point for this epic journey of exploration, but also your gateway to the Peruvian capital, Lima. Before setting sail you will have the chance to savour Lima’s Spanish colonial structures and experience all the hustle and bustle of the busy Indian Market. From Callao your ship will cruise to the thriving deep water port of Paracas. Situated just a short distance from here are the beautiful islands of Ballestas – affectionately known as Peru’s ‘mini-Galápagos’ – which can be reached via boat. Alternatively, you can head off on ‘The Pisco Route’ to learn about and sample varieties of the famous Peruvian brandy.
Next you’ll step ashore at unspoilt Rarotonga, following in the footsteps of Captain James Cook, before finally sailing onwards to New Zealand. Top of the wishlist for many, it’s packed with variety. Contrasting sights and experiences can be discovered during a day in Auckland. See the soaring Sky Tower which dominates the manmade cityscape and indulge in a little retail therapy on Ponsonby Road. Or perhaps visit natural attractions nearby: highlights include the unique Waitomo Glowworm Caves and the laid-back island retreat of Waiheke.
Black Watch will then glide across the Pacific Ocean, stopping at a string of stunning islands along the way. Hanga Roa is the stopping point for taking in Easter Island’s fascinating archaeological sites and remarkable Moai head statues; a scenic cruise past the volcanic island of Pitcairn will be an equally memorable experience. Countless photo opportunities await you in the spectacular French Polynesian islands of Tahiti and Bora Bora: lush landscapes, breathtaking white-sand beaches and
The naturally and historically important Bay of Islands is also yours to explore. Here you can choose to join a tour to the Waitangi Treaty House – the symbol of New Zealand’s birth as a nation; see gigantic Kauri Trees up close at a protected reserve; or even paddle in a traditional Maori canoe. If you choose to take a boat trip to the famed ‘Hole in the Rock’, keep your eyes peeled as you may spot dolphins and other magical marine fauna. This incredible cruise will then come to an end in the iconic Australian city of Sydney.

Sydney Great Barrier Reef
There’s nowhere better to start your time on 'the other side of the world’ than Sydney, Australia’s most iconic city. Tick the world-famous Harbour Bridge and the Opera House off your ‘must-visit’ list, or perhaps while away a few hours exploring the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens before sailing to charming Brisbane. Elegant colonial structures and modern glass office blocks stand side-by-side here; the ever-changing sights can be admired on city tours or a boat ride along the Brisbane River. The rapidly developing urban area is home to the world’s first Koala sanctuary and gateway to the inviting, sandy beaches of the Gold Coast. Idyllic Hamilton Island is the perfect place to soak up the Australian sunshine. You can tour to stunning Whitehaven Beach, ideal for a lazy day, with its soft white sands and warm, crystal-clear waters. Or for a simply unforgettable experience, you can snorkel or scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World – on an incredible excursion. See many species of coral and tropical fish up-close in their natural environment. After departure from Hamilton Island there will be a
memorable scenic cruise along this mesmerising, UNESCO-listed wonder of the world, offering inspirational views and photo opportunities galore. The Australian leg of this adventure ends in Darwin, which is a delight to explore thanks to the tropical climate, diverse sights and extensive list of attractions found in and around the Northern Territory’s capital. Whether you choose to wander the pretty streets, enjoy a relaxing cruise around the harbour or visit the Territory Wildlife Park in search of crocodiles, you won’t be disappointed. There’s also the chance to take a short flight to Bathurst Island to delve into Aboriginal history and the culture of the Tiwi people. Then it’s onto Asia, stopping first at Komodo Island. Go ashore and seek out Komodo Dragons in their unspoilt natural habitat. Or, if encountering the world’s largest lizards isn’t for you, head to the pretty Pink Beach and stroll along red coral-tinted sands. Before finally disembarking in Port Klang, you’ll also get to see some of the highlights of Singapore, including the spectacular Gardens by the Bay.

The intoxicating wonders of Arabia and India are yours to explore in 2018/19. Get under the skin of these regions with a choice of two authentic, exotic expeditions that are new concepts for Fred. Olsen. Or combine both – with the Lost City of Petra and the Pyramids of Giza mixed in – on a 34-night adventure that ticks all the boxes. There are opportunities to… see the birthplace of Gandhi; go ‘dune bashing’; marvel at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque; discover the stunning contrasts of Mumbai; experience the Musandam Fjords on a Dhow boat; and more besides. These ‘world wonders’ are joined by two more, the mighty Colosseum and beautiful Taj Mahal, on Black Watch’s incredible voyage ‘Exploring the World’s Ancient Icons’. There’s the unique chance to unearth mysterious sites left behind by ancient civilisations as the same ship heads off in search of Petra, Pompeii, Ephesus and Ubar the following year. That’s not all. The unmistakable icons of Petra are also available on an evening tour as the spectacular finale to Boudicca’s island-hopping cruise to Jordan. An itinerary with an alluring Mediterranean flavour, it also features an unforgettable day in Cádiz, where the Fred. Olsen fleet will converge to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the Olsen family’s first foray into shipping. For a shorter journey that packs in the inspiration, take your pick from two week-long European fly-cruises: one takes in the sun, sea, sand and scenery of the Canary Islands; the other uncovers architectural highlights and picturesque coastal towns in mainland Spain and Portugal.

This exciting holiday is packed with diversity. As you make your way to Jordan, you’ll discover Portuguese and Spanish heritage in two stunning cities. Be part of the celebrations in Cádiz, where the fleet will reunite to mark the 170th anniversary of Fred. Olsen's beginnings in shipping. Uncover ancient wonders as you island-hop the Mediterranean. And a transit through the Suez Canal will follow, leading you to Aqaba – gateway to the Lost City of Petra. Ibiza
Cádiz
Easily accessed from Leixões, your first port of call, is Oporto – a city famed for its port wines. The charismatic Douro River flows through the centre, amongst many wine cellars and cobbled lanes that are perfect for exploration on foot. From port wine to delicious tapas, it’s then on to the Spanish leg of your holiday. Cádiz is an eye-catching city as well as host for a magnificent day of celebrations, where the Fred. Olsen fleet will be reunited for only the second time in history. To commemorate 170 years of the company’s heritage, special celebrations will take place on board and on the quayside. Savour unique menus and performances from the ships’ Show Teams and local entertainers. Each of the ships will be open to Fred. Olsen guests to visit while in port. Venturing into the city, you’ll also have the chance to discover its history, including the Torre Tavira, the Plaza de España and the ancient centre. Ibiza is another destination full of heritage and beauty. The UNESCO-listed Old Town, Dalt Vila, features cobbled streets surrounded by 16th century walls. Both Spanish spots are excellent for relaxing on sun-kissed
beaches too, if that’s what takes your fancy. Known as one of the most beautiful places on Earth to sail into, Valletta sits in the heart of the Mediterranean. Built by the Knights of St John, it’s a must-visit when cruising this region. Don’t miss the chance to uncover the island’s epic history with a horse-drawn carriage ride through the medieval city of Mdina. From one capital to another, Crete’s Iraklion is next. A perfect fit for this itinerary of historic destinations, the Cretan capital is home to archaeological artefacts and monuments that date back as far as 3,000 years ago. Just outside the city is the ancient archaeological site of the Palace of Knossos. The Suez Canal is one of the world’s great cruise experiences. A transit of this famous waterway will lead on to Jordanian Aqaba where you’ll disembark. Before flying home don’t miss the chance to join a night tour to the world-famous Lost City of Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Or, experience sunset in the desert landscapes of Wadi Rum – a wonderful way to conclude your holiday.

The story of India’s European influence is told in the Portuguese colonial architecture of Old Goa and the UNESCO-listed Latin Quarter. The port of Mormugao is your gateway to these historic centres, where you’ll find colourful old houses, beautiful churches and striking cathedrals. Your time in India will come to an end in Kerala state, with two enticing ports. Intoxicating Kochi has been attracting traders, explorers and more for centuries. Here you’ll have the chance to see the famous fishing nets and the British Commonwealth’s oldest synagogue during an overnight stay. Then in Thiruvananthapuram an array of mosques, churches and temples will be unveiled, along with the brightly coloured Kovalam Lighthouse. Your awe-inspiring adventure concludes in Colombo, a spectacular Sri Lankan city packed with beautiful Buddhist and Hindu temples, mosques, museums and busy bazaars.

There are countless iconic and inspirational sights to encounter on this memorable adventure aboard Boudicca. Take in an incredible list of destinations in Arabia, India and the Med. Porbandar, the birthplace of Gandhi; the beautiful Musandam Fjords and the Lost City of Ubar in Oman; Jordan’s Lost City of Petra; and the world’s oldest ancient wonder, the Great Pyramid of Giza – these are just a few of the unforgettable highlights you can discover. Mumbai
Valletta Pyramids of Giza
Musandam Fjords
Where better to start this memorable voyage than the stunning Sri Lankan city of Colombo? From here – after settling in on board Boudicca – you will sail on to India. Kochi is the first of three diverse Indian cities on the itinerary, where you’ll have the chance to see the famous Chinese cantilever fishing nets and the British Commonwealth’s oldest synagogue. Next you will call into bustling Mumbai. There are seemingly endless attractions to discover in India’s largest city, including a number of impressive Hindu temples and the grand Victoria Railway Terminus. Opt for an early morning tour to take in the unique Dhobi Ghat laundry site and the beautiful colours at the Dadar Flower Market. Sailing onwards, you’ll then reach the spiritual city of Porbandar, the birthplace of Gandhi. In Arabia, a day of shopping and sightseeing in Dubai – the home of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building – is well recommended. This glamorous Emirati city is then followed by an enlightening exploration of Oman. There are opportunities to explore the spectacular Musandam Fjords aboard a
Dhow boat tour from Khasab; and admire the modern Arabic architecture of Muscat, including the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace. Alternatively you could venture from the Omani capital to the pre-Islamic Nakhal Fort and hot springs. The Lost City of Ubar, which is believed to pre-date the writing of the Qur’an, will await your discovery from Salalah too. In the Jordanian city of Aqaba, an overnight stay is planned for tours to the Lost City of Petra – one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Don’t miss the chance to discover the huge tombs and temples carved into sandstone over 2,000 years ago. Four exciting days in Egypt follow, where memorable scenic cruising along the Suez Canal is sandwiched between an overnight stay in Safaga – your gateway to the remarkable Valley of the Kings – and a call into Alexandria, from where you can visit the Great Pyramid of Giza, the world’s oldest ancient wonder. Finally you’ll visit Malta and cruise the Grand Harbour into Valletta; and sail to Spain, stopping at the beautiful island of Mallorca and pretty Cádiz.

Asia, Egypt & the Med
There’s much more to this exciting cruise than the incredible port towns and cities. Venture a little further and you’ll discover some of the world’s most famous and awe-inspiring ‘lost cities’, including Oman’s Lost City of Ubar, which is mentioned in the Qur’an; the Lost City of Petra, one of Seven Wonders of the Modern World; ancient Ephesus; and the preserved ruins of Pompeii. Each will be as fascinating as the next, with extraordinary history to uncover.
Petra
The ultra-modern city of Dubai – home of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa – is the departure point for this unforgettable voyage through Arabia and the Mediterranean. From here you will sail to Khasab, the first of three stops in Oman. Don’t miss the chance to take in the spectacular, unspoilt scenery of the Musandam Fjords aboard a traditional Dhow boat before sailing onwards to Muscat. The marvels of the Omani capital can all be discovered at your leisure. Perfect examples are the striking Qasr Al Alam Palace and the glorious Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, which is one of the world’s finest examples of modern Arabian architecture. The Lost City of Ubar awaits your discovery during your call into Salalah. Although this historic frankincense shipping settlement was only rediscovered in the early nineties, it is mentioned in the Qur’an and it’s believed that the large fort and tall towers found here may pre-date Islam’s holy book. The Jordanian city of Aqaba is your gateway to another of Arabia’s lost cities. Make the most of an overnight stay here to tour to Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, and marvel at the
huge tombs, archways and stunning temples that were carved into the sandstone over 2,000 years ago. In Kusadasi, the beautiful golden-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters of one of Turkey’s best holiday resorts may tempt you, however, you won’t want to miss the chance to visit the archaeological site of Ephesus. Discover the highlights of this remarkable lost city, including the Library of Celsius and the Temple of Hadrian, and enjoy an in-depth look into its fascinating history. The final lost city to tick off your list is arguably the most famous of them all, Pompeii. From Naples, take a short journey to this remarkable UNESCO-listed settlement and uncover the ash dusted Greco-Roman remains of the ancient city, which was devastated by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79CE. Before sailing to Southampton you will also enjoy a day in Gibraltar, the Mediterranean’s ‘little bit of Britain’, where you can take in superb sea views from atop the famous rock. Plus, a call to La Coruña is the chance to tour to Santiago de Compostela and see the spectacular cathedral.

Latin America & the Caribbean
Latin America & the Caribbean Most of us have probably fantasised about an island-hopping holiday in the Caribbean, with sun, sea and sand all the way. On a Fred. Olsen fly-cruise to this region you’ll unearth the essence of every destination too, with each blending its own highlights into the mix. Your time ashore in sun-kissed paradise can be as exhilarating or as relaxing as you wish. Seek out Sea Turtles in the waters of Barbados; hitch a ride on the St Kitts Scenic Railway; uncover the pirate history of Tortola; glide through St Lucia’s rainforest on an aerial tram; unwind on the endless beaches of Antigua; and more. Within the incredible selection there’s a special opportunity to visit the Caribbean during the festive season too, complete with Christmas Day at sea and New Year’s Eve fireworks lighting up the skies over St Maarten. The choice is all yours. Opt for a fully immersive exploration, with flights to and from your destination. Or perhaps choose an itinerary that includes more quality sailing time aboard your home-from-home at sea, either to embrace the excitement building ahead of your first port of call or to share memories of your adventures with friends old and new as you return. The wonders of the Amazon region feature too. On the following pages there are three chances to tick this awe-inspiring part of the world off your wish list. Caiman-spotting under the cover of darkness, witnessing the ‘Meeting of the Waters’, trekking through the rainforest to see flora and fauna up close… the list of unforgettable experiences goes on. In 2019 you can even have the best of both worlds as Braemar combines the Amazon and the Caribbean to stunning effect. Branching further north, in January 2018 Black Watch ventures into Latin America on a 24-night sailing from Southampton. After relaxing on the pink sands of Bermuda, the classic cars of Cuba, the ancient Mayan ruins of Mexico, and the engineering feats of the Panama Canal await.

Martha Brae River
Your Caribbean escapade begins in Barbados, where you’ll join Braemar before heading on to St Lucia. The island is home to many spectacular sites, including the soaring Pitons, the Diamond Botanical Gardens and Falls, and the bubbling sulphur springs at Soufriere. Afterwards, you’ll visit Grenada, the ‘Spice Island’. From St George’s, a fun-filled journey aboard a Rhum Runner boat awaits. Alongside volcanic crater lakes and an array of idyllic beaches, the island is home to a natural paradise, the Grand Etang National Park. Oranjestad, on the beautiful island of Aruba, is the gateway to the unique Casibari Rocks and the shipwreck of the German freighter, Antilla. You can also admire the colourful, Amsterdam-esque buildings that line the waterfront, visit the island’s butterfly farm, or simply relax on the glorious beaches. In Ocho Rios you’ll have the chance to visit Jamaica’s most famous waterfall, Dunn’s River Falls. Alternatively, you may choose to enjoy a rafting experience along the Martha Brae River. This picturesque waterway is lined by whispering groves of bamboo and ferns.
In contrast, a visit to Santiago de Cuba presents the chance to uncover bustling streets and captivating history. The city is regarded as the root of the Cuban Revolution, with the Moncada Barracks and the Plaza de la Revolución key landmarks in Fidel Castro’s rise to power. Elsewhere, head to Céspedes Park and you’ll experience a slice of typical Cuban street life amid an abundance of colonial architecture. In Tortola you can uncover the swashbuckling legends surrounding the area; taste authentic Caribbean rum in Road Town’s renowned Pusser’s Bar; or simply unwind on the vast sugar-white sands. On the following day you’ll have the chance to ride on the St Kitts Scenic Railway, before Antigua’s 365 beaches, stunning English Harbour and historic Nelson’s Dockyard beckon. Martinique’s Fort-de-France is home to the St James Rum Distillery and is the perfect place to sample typical Creole cuisine. Back in Barbados, before you depart, you’ll have time to enjoy some of the highlights, perhaps the beautiful Hunte’s Gardens or going in search of Sea Turtles in the azure waters.

Latin America & the Caribbean
Exploring the Amazon is endlessly rewarding: the people, culture and fauna will show you a way of life so very different from home. On this adventure you’ll have the chance to walk rainforest trails, tour local communities and go in search of elusive wildlife, such as caimans and Pink Dolphins. There’s also the chance to witness a natural phenomenon at the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ and to see a private theatrical performance of the Boi Bumba Festival. Manaus
Boi Bumba
After setting sail from beautiful Barbados, you’ll make your first stop in the diverse city of Santarém. You can visit the 2,000 kilometres of beaches in the Alter do Chao district – considered the ‘Caribbean of the Amazon’ – and get a taste for traditional local produce at the Mercado Modelo (city market). However, the must-see attraction here is undoubtedly the famous ‘Meeting of the Waters’, where the different coloured Tapajós and Amazon rivers flow side-by-side without mixing – a fascinating natural phenomenon that has to be seen to be believed. Continue your exploration with a visit to Parintins. The city is host to Brazil’s second biggest festival after Rio’s Carnival – an explosion of colour, culture and sound that is the Boi Bumba. Although the celebrations take place in June, you can still enjoy the carnival atmosphere with a private theatrical performance of the show, where the carnival costumes, tantalising music and alluring story are sure to have you on your feet. Alternatively, admire the cathedral and pick up some souvenirs from the colourful floating market.
Heading deeper into the Amazon, you’ll next visit Manaus, a lively urban sprawl encompassed by rainforest. It’s the gateway to the wonders and wildlife of the Amazon, and with an overnight stay there’s opportunity to really explore in depth. For a real encounter of the tropical sights, sounds and scents, join a jungle trek to explore one of the world’s most important rainforests. Or, perhaps wait until darkness and glide into the flooded forest on a motorised canoe as you search for the elusive caiman – a truly exhilarating experience. There’s also the chance to meet an indigenous Amazon tribe and encounter wild Pink Dolphins. Some relaxing time at sea will follow as you make the journey back towards the Caribbean. Before heading home from Barbados there will be time to make a stop in Scarborough, Tobago. This animated city boasts bustling shopping streets and a colourful market. Seek out the calmer side though and you’ll uncover many places to relax and grab a bite to eat or soak up the sunshine. The main historical attraction is the Fort King George, which affords superb views of the city and the sea.

Latin America & the Caribbean
Explore four of the finest West Indian islands before sailing across the Atlantic via the emerald-green Azores. Revel in the warmth and classic Caribbean feel of Barbados; savour spectacular views of Antigua from Shirley Heights; uncover St Lucia’s flourishing rainforest; and hitch a ride on the unforgettable St Kitts Scenic Railway. All this before stopping in Ponta Delgada, home to lush valleys, hot springs and the extinct Sete Cidades Volcano. St Lucia
Barbados
After arriving in Bridgetown, there’ll be time to settle in before you explore Barbados. Go for a wander and you’ll find shops, street vendors, bars and cafés vying for your attention while friendly locals go about their daily business. Awe-inspiring experiences are aplenty too; admire the impressive stalactites and stalagmites in Harrison’s Cave, or sail the calm, azure waters in search of Sea Turtles. For something typically relaxed, soaking up the rays on a sandy beach or two is always well recommended. Continuing on to St Lucia, you’ll be greeted by the impressive sight of the towering Pitons. Among the many wonders of nature within reach are the bubbling volcano of Soufriere, and the Diamond Botanical Gardens & Falls – the vibrant exhibits here starred in Superman II. Alternatively, for unique views of the island, discover rich swathes of rainforest as you glide smoothly through the treetops on an aerial tram. Antigua is next, with its impressive collection of 365 beaches – one for each day the year, if you ask the locals. In St John’s, the Public Market is ideal for
people-watching and a sprinkling of quintessential Caribbean culture. Or take in an array of highlights in one fell swoop from Shirley Heights. It affords sensational views of the historic English Harbour, Nelson’s Dockyard and more. The spectacular landscapes continue in Basseterre, proud capital of St Kitts; simply head to the Brimstone Hill Fortress or hitch a ride on the inspirational St Kitts Scenic Railway – you won’t regret it. Elsewhere, there’s everything from botanical gardens to bronzed beaches, all infused with a typically balmy climate. A momentous crossing of the Tropic of Cancer follows to conclude the Caribbean part of your journey, but Braemar still has one more beautiful destination for you to experience before heading back to Southampton. In the midst of the volcanic Azores, Ponta Delgada boasts a fine array of attractions. The surrounding scenery of São Miguel Island – especially the crater lakes of the Sete Cidades Volcano and the hot springs of Furnas Valley – is sure to take your breath away. The town itself oozes charm and boasts a tempting selection of parks, squares, waterside cafés and a modern marina.

Latin America & the Caribbean
Round off the year in style with a relaxing and rewarding escape to the sunshine of the Caribbean, all the while enjoying the comfort of smallerscaled Braemar. Sample the flavours of Portugal en route, before discovering a string of diverse islands, each with much to recommend it. From catamaran tours and sunset cruises to the St Kitts Scenic Railway – you’re sure to be enthralled until the very last moment.
First on your itinerary is Lisbon, where a combination of charming, tram-lined streets, historic monuments and fascinating museums makes for a fantastic day of discovery to kick off your holiday. During your stay, don’t miss a visit to Pasteis de Belém for one of the famous egg tart pastries. The Portuguese flavour continues in Madeira, with sweet-smelling gardens, leafy levada network trails and a benign climate to really set you up for your Caribbean adventure. There’ll be plenty of time to relax and take advantage of the facilities on board Braemar before you reach Antigua, the first of a string of highlyrated islands. You’ll call into the capital, St John’s, where the highlights include the historic English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard, both of which can be viewed in style from the 490ft-high lookout at Shirley Heights. That’s not forgetting a choice of 365 beaches – one for each day of the year, if you ask the locals. An extended day on St Maarten is next. Docked in Philipsburg, you’ll be able to unwind on golden beaches; enjoy fine panoramic views over the town
from the historic remains of Fort Amsterdam or Fort Willem; discover the island in style via Harley Davidson; or take a sun-kissed catamaran cruise with red carpet treatment all the way. Then Braemar heads to Road Town, Tortola, perhaps the best place in the Caribbean to sample authentic rum. A full day here affords ample time to uncover the area’s swashbuckling pirate legends on a scenic boat cruise with an open safari bus tour. In St Kitts, the icing on the cake is an unforgettable ride on the St Kitts Scenic Railway, though the streets of Basseterre feature many landmarks too. Keep an eye out for the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral; its barrel-vaulted wooden ceiling is reminiscent of a ship’s hull. And last up is Barbados. Revel in Bridgetown’s laid-back atmosphere – ideal for a final bit of relaxation – or indulge in a tropical sunset cruise with champagne and Caribbean cuisine. The following day there’s even time for a farewell tour. You’ll experience coastal views, a typical Barbadian lunch and highlights including the legendary Concorde Exhibit, before heading home.

Grenada
Arriving in Bridgetown, there’ll be time to settle in to your friendly home-from-home, Braemar, before you head to St Lucia. The island is home to an array of spectacular attractions, particularly the soaring Pitons; bubbling springs of Soufriere; and Diamond Botanical Gardens & Falls – a starring location in Superman II. In Grenada meanwhile, top experiences include exploring the stunning Grand Etang National Park and a scenic adventure aboard a Rhum Runner boat, complete with rum punches, calypso music and a steel band. The Dutch-influenced island of Curaçao presents a chance to uncover the UNESCO-listed centre of Willemstad, which is packed full of colonial architecture and pastel-coloured buildings. You’ll then enjoy a relaxing Christmas Day – with all the trimmings – as Braemar sails the tranquil waters of the Caribbean Sea en route to St Kitts. The undoubted highlight is sure to be an unforgettable ride on the St Kitts Scenic Railway. Specifically built to transport sugar cane, this route passes old sugar estates, mills, windmills and more, giving real insight into Caribbean history.
Next is Tortola, an island famed for its pirating history. There’s the chance to uncover these legends on a scenic boat cruise followed by an open safari bus tour. Grand Turk follows, from where the white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and tropical reefs of the uninhabited Gibb’s Cay are hotspots for sunbathing, snorkelling and swimming with stingrays. A full day on St Maarten, docked in Philipsburg, ends the year in real style. You’ll be able to unwind on golden beaches; enjoy fine panoramic views over the town from the historic remains of Fort Amsterdam or Fort Willem; or discover the island from a completely different perspective – on a Harley Davidson. That’s not all – a rousing fireworks display will paint the skies over the island to welcome the New Year. It’s an event you won’t forget. A day at sea to relax and catch your breath kicks off 2019, before you arrive back in Bridgetown, your final destination. During your time in port before disembarkation, chances to admire floral displays at Hunte’s Gardens and go in search of Sea Turtles during a catamaran cruise are not to be missed.

Latin America & the Caribbean
Start your year in style and visit nine islands of the sun-kissed Caribbean in just two weeks. On an authentic journey of discovery, you’ll uncover the true essence and character of every destination and find out what makes each one unique from the others. From Sea Turtles and rum to privateering and sugar cane history, there’s so much more to the region than sun, sea and sand – though there are plenty of opportunities to indulge too.
Arriving into Barbados, you’ll have some time in Bridgetown to explore before proceeding onwards. The chance to go in search of Sea Turtles during a catamaran cruise is one that’s not to be missed. Then in Grenada, the ‘Spice Island’, you’ll be greeted by an array of colourful buildings and an infusion of rich spices. During your time here, choose to explore the stunning Grand Etang National Park or embark on a scenic adventure aboard a Rhum Runner boat, with rum punches, calypso music and a steel band. Braemar will make two stops at the ‘ABC’ Islands for you to sample Caribbean destinations with a Dutch flavour. First, on Curaçao, you’ll get the chance to uncover the UNESCO-listed centre of Willemstad, which is full of colonial architecture and pastelcoloured buildings. Then Kralendijk, capital of the beautiful and unspoilt island of Bonaire, offers plenty of unique ways to explore, from an exhilarating Harley Davidson ride to a Tuk Tuk adventure. Next on the list is Tortola. This island is famed for its pirating history and you can take the chance to uncover the legends on a scenic boat cruise
followed by an open safari bus tour. A pause to experience the sun-drenched white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and tropical reefs of Grand Turk follows, and then it’s on to St Kitts, where the undoubted highlight is sure to be an unforgettable ride on the St Kitts Scenic Railway. Specifically built to transport sugar cane, this route passes old sugar estates, mills, windmills and more, giving real insight into Caribbean history. The island-hopping continues as you reach Antigua. Among the historic landmarks, such as Nelson’s Dockyard, there are 365 beaches on the island for you to choose from – one for each day of the year so say the locals. Lastly, Dominica awaits your discovery, named as one of Lonely Planet’s Top 10 countries to visit in 2017. The big draw here is the exotic tropical interior, a landscape unlike any of those on the neighbouring islands. Much of this is encompassed within the UNESCO-listed Morne Trois Pitons National Park, and it is here you can take a swim in the cool waters of the enchanting Emerald Pool. Once the day is over, you’ll enjoy one last night on board before disembarking in Bridgetown.

Latin America & the Caribbean
Take advantage of the last chance to get to the Caribbean in the 2018-19 season by flying out to join this voyage in paradise. Exploring the islands can be as exhilarating or relaxing as you wish: go in search of Sea Turtles; uncover sugar cane history aboard the St Kitts Scenic Railway; join a boat cruise around Tortola; and unwind on the beaches of Antigua. Then enjoy the comfort and space of Braemar as you head home via the Azores and Spain. Barbados
Antigua
Tortola
After arriving in Bridgetown, Barbados, there’ll be time to discover this very British Caribbean island before moving on to your next destination. You may opt to explore the streets on foot, observing typically laid-back Barbadian life first-hand, or pick from a raft of awe-inspiring experiences. Admire impressive stalactites and stalagmites in Harrison’s Cave; venture out on to the shimmering waters in a catamaran in search of Sea Turtles; or savour the collection of rare and exotic plants at Hunte’s Gardens. Antigua is next, where there are no less than 365 beaches to choose from – one for each day of the year, if you ask the locals. Elsewhere, the Public Market in St John’s is ideal for a spot of peoplewatching and a slice of authentic Caribbean culture. Or if you’d prefer to take in all the highlights in one fell swoop, the 490ft-high lookout at Shirley Heights affords sensational views of English Harbour, Nelson’s Dockyard and much more. The island-hopping continues as you reach Tortola, where in Road Town you can learn about the island’s fascinating pirate history on a scenic boat cruise with
an open-sided safari bus tour. What’s more, at Pusser’s Bar you’ll have the perfect opportunity to try some authentic Caribbean rum. Then, Braemar glides in a south-easterly direction towards St Kitts, presenting you with the chance to explore Basseterre, the easy-going capital. Bask in the balmy climate as you wander round the botanical gardens, observe the local way of life at Independence Square, or truly unwind to the full – and be sure not to miss the chance to take a ride on the incredible St Kitts Scenic Railway during your time in port. Though St Kitts is the conclusion to your Caribbean adventure, Braemar still has two enticing destinations up her sleeve before heading back to Southampton. A call into Ponta Delgada of the emerald-green Azores archipelago presents captivating natural wonders – including crater lakes and hot springs – that are sure to take your breath away. Uncovering La Coruña’s galleries, impressive seafront promenade and compact Old Quarter is a great way to cap off this holiday of a lifetime.

Latin America & the Caribbean
With Cuba’s culture, Bermuda’s pink-sand beaches and Ecuador’s national parks, there’s a string of unforgettable experiences awaiting you. Let Black Watch be your guide to discovering an array of incredible sights, from Mayan ruins and coral reefs, to picturesque lakes and exquisite architecture. You’ll also visit the remote islands of the Azores, enjoy an overnight stay in the city of Havana, and transit the engineering marvel that is the Panama Canal.
Temple of Kukulcan, Chichén Itzá
Your holiday begins with the diverse, emerald-green islands of the Azores. First stop is Ponta Delgada, the gateway to the extinct Sete Cidades Volcano. Marvel at the two spectacular crater lakes – one is blue, reflecting the sky, and the other is bright green due to the beautiful rich vegetation that surrounds it. Alternatively, venture into the Furnas Valley to see hot springs and steaming fumaroles, or explore the subtropical gardens of Terra Nostra Park. Horta is an unspoilt treasure on the hard-to-reach island of Faial. It is home to beautiful landscapes of craters, lakes, sheer cliffs and lush valleys, as well as the intriguing volcanic structures, Caldeira and Capelinhos. Bermuda is where you’ll find some of the best beaches in the world. Blessed with soft pink sands and azure waters teeming with life, they’re a haven for snorkelers and sunbathers alike. The spectacular Crystal Caves – home to an array of crystallised stalactites and stalagmites – are also a must-see. What follows is sure to be one of the highlights of your cruise. The fabled city of Havana is doused in history, most notably from the Communist
Revolution. Scattered around you’ll encounter exquisite architecture, colourful vintage cars and cobbled streets, while the squares are alive with the irresistible rhythms of mambo. Take a stroll around UNESCO-listed Habana Vieja (Old Havana) to soak up the Latin atmosphere; see the city’s main sights from the back seat of a classic American car; or discover the history of rum and cigars – two of the products Cuba is famed for. Cozumel then presents you with a plethora of sights, from Mayan ruins to coral reefs and sandy beaches. Extended tours offer the chance to step back in time on a visit to the Mayan city of Tulum, or see one of the New Seven Wonders of the World – the Pyramid of Kukulcan – in the legendary ruins of Chichén Itzá. Next Black Watch will transit one of Earth’s greatest engineering marvels, the Panama Canal, before heading to the Ecuadorean city of Manta – your final port of call. You can opt for a trip to Montecristi, home of the Panama Hat, or visit the tropical Pacoche Forest, which is bursting with flora and fauna. Enjoy all this before ending your adventure in Callao, Peru.

Latin America & the Caribbean
Escape the onset of the British winter and join Black Watch as she sets sail for paradise. A concoction of floral blooms, glorious architecture and natural wonders in Lisbon and Madeira is sure to set you up for Caribbean island discovery. Calls into Antigua and Dominica present a diverse array of experiences, from the invigorating to the exhilarating and, in true Caribbean style, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to unwind until your heart’s content. Sintra
Emerald Pool, Dominica
After two days spent enjoying all the comforts of Black Watch, you’ll reach stylish Lisbon. During your day here, you’re sure to discover why it was named among Lonely Planet’s Top 10 cities to visit in 2017. Fascinating museums, captivating backstreets, architectural wonders, Art Nouveau cafés and more await, or you can venture further afield to the pretty towns of Óbidos or Sintra. In the city, be sure to visit Pasteis de Belém for a famous egg tart pastry too – the recipe has remained unchanged for nearly 200 years.
Public Market is ideal for absorbing local culture. Alternatively, from Shirley Heights you can savour views of the historic English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard. The island is famed for its 365 beaches – one for each day of the year say the locals – and your visit would not be complete without pausing to soak up the sun on at least one. Meanwhile, more adventurous experiences include swimming with stingrays, a thrilling speedboat ride, and an off-thebeaten-track 4x4 adventure.
Madeira is affectionately known as the ‘garden island’. In the capital, Funchal, there’s so much to see and do: admire the stunning landscapes via the unique levada walking trails; take in the enchanting gardens; or indulge in afternoon tea at the world-famous Reid’s Hotel. For a unique experience, head to Cabo Girão where the sea cliff – one of the world’s highest – can be viewed directly beneath your feet from a glassfloored platform. Feeling enriched, you’ll then set sail for the sun-splashed islands of the Caribbean.
Finally you’ll head over to Dominica, one of Lonely Planet’s Top 10 countries to discover in 2017. The big draw here is the exotic tropical interior, a landscape unlike any of those on the neighbouring islands. Much of this is encompassed within the UNESCOlisted Morne Trois Pitons National Park, and it is here you can take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of the enchanting Emerald Pool too. You’ll be spoilt for choice of other attractions and experiences: embark on a whale and dolphin safari or opt for a wander round the beautiful Botanical Gardens of Dominica. Once the day is over, you’ll enjoy one last night on board before disembarking in Bridgetown.
After a relaxing crossing of the transatlantic, Black Watch will call into Antigua, where in St John’s the
