PIZZA HUT’S LARGEST U.S. FRANCHISEE FILES FOR CHAPTER 11 BANKRUPTCY

NPC International, Pizza Hut’s largest U.S. franchisee, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. NPC, which also owns nearly 400 Wendy’s restaurants, blamed its financial woes partially on poor performance by its 1,200-plus Pizza Hut stores, which account for 20% of the chain’s U.S. locations, as well as the coronavirus pandemic. The company said all of its Pizza Hut and Wendy’s stores will remain open during restructuring and that employees will continue to be paid, without any changes to their day-to-day job responsibilities.
