Accident prevention Please note! Refrigerants in combination with open flames or hot surfaces can produce toxic gases (fluor gas, phosgene). Even at low concentrations these gases are recognisable by their pungent odour. Serious frostbite will result, if liquid refrigerant comes into contact with skin. Therefore, always wear protective goggles (0899 102 110) and gloves (0899 430). Leather or fabric gloves are not suitable for this purpose. Gaseous refrigerant is heavier than air. Therefore, there is a danger of suffocation near the floor level or in work pits. Always provide sufficient ventilation when handling refrigerants.
First aid Always make sure of the following when handling refilling bottles: • Do not expose bottles to sunlight or heat. • Protect bottles against frost. • Transport bottles upright. • Do not drop bottles. • Always close bottles securely. Filling bottles with one valve Bottles without ascending pipe must be turned upside down for the purpose of extracting liquid refrigerant, ie filling valve pointing downwards. Filling bottles with two valves In these bottles, the ascending pipe is located inside. The bottle must not be turned upside down.
If fumes are inhaled: Move patient to fresh air location, keep warm, let patient rest. If necessary, give oxygen. Call physician immediately. In case of respiratory standstill or irregular breathing, (perform artificial respiration) Call physician immediately. In case of cardiac arrest, (perform heart massage) Call physician immediately. After contact with skin: Flush affected area with water. After contact with eyes: Flush eyes with lots of water for at least 15 minutes. Consult physician. (1895 100 010 eye wash dispenser).

air conditioning program HOW YOU CAN BENEFIT FROM IT: Servicing of air conditioning systems is one of the growth markets of the future. Almost all new automobiles will be equipped with standard air conditioning in the future. Even today up to 72% of small and medium cars come equipped with factory air conditioning. Air conditioning system disinfection and regular service checks represent additional services for you and, above all, for the health of your customers. Refrigerants must not be mixed. The refrigerant specified for an air conditioning system must be used exclusively. Air conditioning systems that are filled with the refrigerant R12, cannot and must never be topped up or refilled with the refrigerant R134a (different components and compressor oils are required). However, an R12 air conditioning system can be converted to R134a using a retrofit process.

Notes for working on air conditioning systems
Air conditioning checklist
a) It is of vital importance to collect the refrigerant in a service unit when draining an air conditioning system. Under no circumstances may the refrigerant be discarded outside or into the sewer.
The most important prerequisite when working on air conditioning systems is cleanliness. Any foreign substances, such as air, moisture or dirt in the circulation will impair the function of the air conditioning system.
1) Make certain that the valves for high and low pressures at the air conditioning service unit are closed.
b) When using the service unit, it is important to observe the operating instructions by the manufacturer.
f) Prior to loosening refrigerant hose connections and connectors, these MUST be cleaned to remove all contaminates, in order to prevent any contamination of the system.
c) Pressure may still build up in an already drained air conditioning system due to remaining refrigerant residue in the compressor oil. d) Utmost caution is required when performing welding work near an air conditioning system. Care must be taken not to expose parts of the air conditioning system to excessive heat, since this may destroy the hoses and result in danger of explosion. e) After paint work is done on the car with subsequent drying in the baking chamber, air conditioning systems filled with R134a must not be exposed to temperatures higher than 70 to 80°C.
g) All open connectors must be closed immediately with sealing plugs (0964 764 026). Sealing with adhesive tape is NOT suitable. h) Always make sure that tools, measuring devices and replacement parts are free of any contaminates. Refrigerant is highly hygroscopic, that is it immediately absorbs humidity from the air. Keep the refrigerant container closed at all times. i) O-rings must always be replaced after connections are loosened and must be lubricated with refrigerant oil (PAG) prior to installation. j) If the air conditioning system has been opened for service, always replace the dryer cartridge. k) After completion, check all connections for leaks (0964 764 025 and 0964 764 009). Loss of refrigerant between 60-130 grams per year is normal. Even after an operating time of two to four years, under filling of the air conditioning system is normal. In these cases, topping up or refilling without replacement of components is required.
2) Connect the high pressure (red) and low pressure (blue) lines to the quick action couplings of the air conditioning system. 3) For the following checks, make sure that the engine is running at a constant speed of about 1500rpm. 4) Set the air conditioning system to maximum cold setting and the blower to maximum level (recirculation). 5) Temperature check: Attach a digital thermometer (0764 000 013) within the centre air outlet on the dashboard. The temperature reading at the centre air outlet should be between 3 to 6.5°C at an outside temperature of 20°C.For reference values refer to Diagram 1. Should the measuring values deviate from the reference values, perform a pressure check. 6) Pressure check: Verify whether or not the high and low pressure values at the pressure gauges are within the reference values: • low pressure • high pressure For reference values refer to Tables 1 and 2. 7) For possible causes of errors, if values are outside the tolerances: refer to Table 3. 8) Prepare for disinfection of air conditioning system: • Check and replace micro air filter. • Check drain tube of condenser for obstructions and clean it. • Check whether the air conditioning system functions properly with recirculation air and outside air supply (air conditioning systems should preferably operate with outside air only). • Now you can apply the disinfection spray in accordance with instructions for use.

UV Leak detector lamp 12V/100W 0964 764 009
Add a leak detection additive to the refrigerant circuit. Then check the hoses for leaks with help of the UV leak detector lamp. The UV light causes any fluorescent fluid that may emerge from leaks to light up. The additive may remain in the system for an indefinite time after the leak search. Ideal for intermediate checks! With protective and effect-enhancing goggles. Goggles must be worn when working with the UV leak test lamp. Goggles enhance the illuminating effect of the additive. Compact size. Better access to tight spaces in the engine compartment, providing more accuracy in locating leaks.
Improves performance of compressors and reduces mechanical wear thanks to a TCP (Tricresyl-phosphate) additive. Ideally suited to older vehicles whose performance is deteriorating due to mechanical wear at the compressor. Compatible with ester andPAG oil. Contains no hazardous substances. Use of this product requires no air conditioning service.

O-rings for air conditioning systems must be resistant to refrigerants, such as R134a, R12, R413. These O-rings for air conditioning systems are made from EPDM. In order to prevent mix-ups, automotive manufacturers tend to use green, purple or, in some cases, yellow, colour coded O-rings. The O-rings or sealing rings of our COOLIUS range of products are all refrigerant-resistant.
