Historical Area
Statement adaptive reuse The historic area is located in Huangwu village on the edge of Guangzhou. The space has over 60-year history as a theater for Cantonese Opera performance. Nowadays, It has been damaged and abandoned, leaving only the traditional building face and memory. This adaptive reuse focuses on the cultural value and interaction with local residence and visitors. The reconstruction of traditional Chinese architecture has promoted the vitality for this abandoned village.

As lost generation growing up in the modern city and living in the modern cubicle, We are suffering from alienation, loneliness, torment and depression. The typical form of modern architecture would be the root of the phenomenon. Commodity Fetishism
The complicated decoration of the Gothic church shows a complicated inner world, just like the big eyes staring at us.
In the context of the consumptive society, the ancient mythology and faith has gradually given their place to commodity fetishism. Jean Baudrillard's theory of sign consumption and Marx's commodity fetishism both represent that the great function of consumer society bring people a mysterious sense that consumption is omnipotent, just as the religion adoration.
Symbol of architecture and interior decoration has a profound influence on culture.
Advertisments and symbolic goods control our brains, as controlled by symbolization of religion in the medieval age. I create these collages combining the religion scene and commodities environment, thereby explaining that we build an iconological consumer society without meaning.
