Louis D. Meisel Award

The Louis D. Meisel Award is presented by the WVU Alumni Association to the senior football letterman with the highest academic average. The award was renamed in 1973 from the 1928 Team Award when Louis Meisel, a member of the 1928 team and organizer of the award, died.

Curtis Jones Jr. Award

This award was presented annually to the Mountaineer football player who demonstrates excellence in all facets of his collegiate career, including academics, athletics and community service. The award was presented in honor of the late Curtis Jones Jr., associate athletic director for academic support at WVU, who died suddenly in September 2013.
