Representing West Virginia University, the city of Morgantown and the state of West Virginia in a charitable manner is important to the WVU women’s tennis team. The Mountaineers are constantly involved in community service activities throughout the state. The team has a continuing relationship with Habitat for Humanity, the WVU Children’s Hospital and the United States Tennis Association (USTA), which makes the team aware of any volunteer openings in the area. The women’s tennis team also hosts youth camps and clinics throughout the year in order to involve the community with the program. Each year, the Mountaineer tennis team also hosts the Martha Thorn Invitational and conducts a charitable giving initiative to benefit local outreaches and causes in the Morgantown community. Becoming successful and positive role models on and off the court are important to the WVU women’s tennis team. The Mountaineers give back to Morgantown and its surrounding communities every chance they get.
