ACCESS POLICY Section 2 – Policy 1 Date of Issue: January 2013 Date of Review: January 2015

Note: this policy incorporates previous individual program policy

Overview BINSA actively orientates services to people impacted and effected by an acquired brain injury and their families, carers and significant others and will ensure that appropriate services are provided to people who need them. This can be achieved by carefully defining our target client group and then identifying, minimising and, wherever possible, removing barriers to access. It is the intention of BINSA that all people in our target group have equal access to our services.

Policy Statement BINSA is committed to maximising access to our services for everyone within our agreed target group. We identify and reduce barriers to access and provide equal access for people who need our services. We endeavour to optimise access to our services and activities within available resources. BINSA is committed to a client/participant centric approach to each individual and will ensure that each client receives services that meet his or her individual goals in the programs/services provided by BINSA. BINSA acknowledges that each individual will make personal choices about the way services are delivered to them within the scope of that program/service. Each individual requires the level of support tailored to his or her need when accessing services from BINSA.

Access Obligations Specifically, we will: 

Plan our services, activities, facilities and premises to maximise physical and cultural accessibility for our clients

Support clients to achieve the highest level of independence possible and that is consistent with the organisation’s duty of care requirements

respond to each client’s rehabilitation, learning, counselling or advocacy needs and goals as determined on entry to the Program or service and will review these needs or goals regularly

Regularly review with our consumers how accessible our services are to our target group, and based on what we learn we take action to improve access wherever and whenever this is possible

Promote our organisation by producing information in a range of formats suitable for our target group. We distribute and present this information in ways and places that will reach those most in need of our service.
