WORKING IN COMMUNITY SETTINGS Section 2 – Policy 4 Date of Issue: January 2013 Date of Review: January 2015
Overview The Brain Injury Network of South Australia Inc. (BINSA) recognises a portion of work undertaken by employees takes place in a wide range of community settings. Some of these are individuals’ own homes. BINSA therefore recognises that even in these settings, it has principal responsibility for the occupational health, safety and welfare of its employees.
Policy Statement BINSA also recognises that the amount of influence it can exercise, both in and over these settings, varies greatly from extensive to minimal. Furthermore, the COM acknowledges that from time to time issues that arise in this area will potentially create a situation where the rights of the people we support, community members and employee’s rights are in conflict.
BINSA recognises the need to ensure that our actions reflect the importance we place on both the people we support and our employees.
