g BINSA Assumin Control Course Background The Brain Injury Network of South Australia Inc. (BINSA) has facilitated the Assuming Control Course since 1999. The need for the course was identified by BINSA members wanting to:
offsets the cost of the facilities, presenters’ fees, folders and handouts, tea, coffee and biscuits and so on.
Outcomes The feedback from previous participants includes •
the course has been a positive stepping stone assisting individuals to better understand the impact of brain injury

gain knowledge, skills and strategies to better manage the effects
learn (in a supported environment) from others who had similar experiences
•
increase self-esteem and confidence to develop a supportive peer and friendship group
learn strategies to take up the threads of living again.

to anticipate a positive future, empowered to assume control again!

what happens when it is injured and ways of minimizing the impact

Content The course runs for up to 10 weeks . Some of the course content is based on a similar course run at Brock University in Ontario, Canada and the balance has been developed by the BINSA in collaboration with the professionals who present the course.
Participation
Sessions run from10am-12:00noon (with a coffee break in the middle. Check BINSA for dates of the next course.

Graduation Ceremony Share your achievements with family and friends. and we welocme your guests to join you at the completion of the course
Participants are expected to attend each session if possible. A folder is provided to enable participants to keep the hand outs for future reference.
