Applications are invited for up to THREE posts of RESEARCH ASSITANT (RA) on a temporary basis for Chromatin Biology Project in the Soft Condensed Matter Group of the Institute. The positionisfor 1yearandmaybe extendeduptoamaximumof2 years,withregularevaluation.First 6monthsofappointmentwillbeunderprobation.Weseekmotivatedindividualswithgoodacademic backgroundwithanaptitudetoexploreandmasterthefunctioninganduseofscientificequipmentand eagernesstolearnnewtechniques.The detailsoftherequiredqualificationsandexperiencearegiven below:
JobDescription:RAwillberesponsibleforsettingupinvitroexperimentsonchromatinassemblyfor single molecule biophysics experiments. Extensive hands-on experience of molecular biology techniqueshandlingDNAandprotein,isamust.
Remuneration:AconsolidatedremunerationofRs. 31,000/- plusHRApermonthwillbe paidtothe selectedcandidates.
Essential Qualification: M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. degree in any field of Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Chemical Sciences with at least 1 year of academic/industrial research work experience in molecularbiologyandDNAandproteinbiochemistry.
Desirable: Experimental work experience in a research lab in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, cloning, recombinant protein expression and purification and microscopy imaging. Candidateswithexperiencewithchromatinassembly,DNA-proteincomplexassembly,CRISPR-Cas9 work, handling RNA work will be preferred. Hands-on experience with quantitative techniques like UV-visabsorption,white-lightand/orfluorescencemicroscopyanddensitygradientfractionationwill bepreferred.Abilitytoworkinmultidisciplinarylabenvironment,detailandmathoriented,excellent documentation skills and should have quantitative approach in research. Familiarity with Excel, Onenoteaswellasanyprogramminglanguageisdesirable.

GeneralInformation:

(iii) Candidate should be self-driven, motivated and have leadership skills to manage the personnelworkingwithhim.
(iv) Shortlisted candidates will be requested to appear for a personal interview at the Raman Research Institute. Under exceptional cases online (Zoom/Skype) interview may be considered. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interviews. Mere fulfilling the essentialanddesiredqualificationswillnotentitleanapplicanttobecalledforinterview.
