LETTER TO YOU The INTERNATIONAL ECO COUTURE ISSUE Welcome to the fifth edition of Coco Eco Magazine; the first International Eco Couture Issue. Thank you for celebrating this historical first with us! We are extremely proud to present gorgeous, sustainable couture from three very diverse parts of the globe. In “She Weaves a Dream,” we bring you stunning pictures from The Philippines (with the dazzling VJ and model Amanda Giffin Jacobs) where making clothing from pineapple fiber has been a part of their culture for years. From the U.S. comes a “Summer Breeze” with vibrant gowns of Leila Hafzi shot in the Southern California desert. The romanticism of London is found in “Sheer Beauty,” aand under the talents of Mark Liu and Elena Garcia whimsical innovation and couture unite. We are very proud of this big issue. It has been a global collaboration of some of the best talents in the business. It reminds us that the fight against Global Warming is indeed an international once, and that the passion to save our planet is a powerful and collective force. We are thrilled to have the lovely Elizabeth Mitchell grace our cover. Not only is she one of the stars of the international cult hit “Lost,” she will be appearing in the fall in a new ABC pilot “V.” We were blessed to get her whilst she is on a whirlwind publicity tour (after our shoot, she was rushing off the Jimmy Kimmel 6
Show), and we were totally blown away by this eco-conscious beauty’s down-to-earth and easy-going nature. Our “Men We Love” column features the Humane Society of the United States President, Wayne Pacelle, who shares his passion and campaign for the tireless crusade against animal abuse. Also in this issues, we bring you Summer Sizzle: Turning Up the Heat on Beauty, and share with you beauty products and tips to get you looking and feeling your best this summer, from head to toe. Finally, we are excited to launch our first ever giveaway, the Coco Eco Fair Trade $600, and announce ourselves as a Media Sponsor of Fair Trade The White House. This initiative is aimed at raising awareness by presenting Michelle Obama with a gift basket filled with goodies from the best of the Fair Trade movement this coming October, 2009. As our awareness evolves, it seems only a matter of time before we consciously choose Fair Trade over Free Trade, and with this in mind we bring you coverage of industry pioneers, People Tree and Anti-Body. Enjoy our latest edition, and the start of your summer. We look forward to seeing you again in July for our Resort issue with bikinis, skin and plenty of summer fun!

FASHION!
She Weaves a Dream Welcome to our first International Eco Couture Issue! We are very excited to introduce some of the most innovative eco friendly designers from around the world. Representing three of the most influential fashion destinations, we think you will be captivated by our whirlwind tour! In our first fashion story, shot in the Philippines and featuring local designers, TV personality and model Amanda Griffin Jacob shows us the inherent beauty of plant-based fabrics. The Abaca plant produces fibers that are painstakingly and carefully hand woven in the Philippines to produce a textile that truly is a product of love and tradition of the Filipino people. Pina, (pineapple fiber) is also luxuriously green. The raw material source, the pineapple plant, is abundant and easily cultivated in that part of the world and we think a serious contender in the world of eco couture! Enjoy and be amazed at the talent coming out of this beautiful Island!
