European Transport Scholarship The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), University of Leeds, is offering a full-fees Masters scholarship, to provide a unique opportunity to a student of outstanding ability, achievement and potential. The European Transport Scholarship 2012 will fund the fees for an EU (non-UK) student to undertake a Masters programme at ITS, on a one year full-time basis. The scholarship forms part of the ITS mission to advance the understanding of global transport, via the development of skills and best practice. It is envisaged that after completing the Masters programme, the scholarship recipient will apply their new skills to an area of identified need within the European Union.

Institute for Transport Studies ITS is recognised as one of the world’s largest and most successful University departments for transport teaching and research - as evidenced by the Research Assessment Exercise and the award of a Queen’s Anniversary Prize. The Institute offers a choice of five Masters programmes:

MA Transport Economics MSc Sustainability (Transport) MSc Transport Planning MSc Transport Planning and the Environment MSc (Eng) Transport Planning and Engineering

The programmes are accredited by leading professional bodies and are designed to equip students with the practical skills for progression to a professional-level career in the transport industries. Scholarship eligibility Applicants must first hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of an academic place on an ITS Masters programme for the academic year commencing September 2012, be designated as ‘Home fee status’ and be domiciled in the European Union, excluding the UK. Value of the scholarship The scholarship is a full-fees waiver for the 2012-13 academic year, to the value of £4900. Application process Applicants should submit the ITS scholarship form and include a statement of 500 words on an important transport debate (policy, technical, social, economic) in their home country and how a Masters degree from ITS would enable them to contribute to that issue. Deadline Scholarship applications should be submitted to ITS no later than 29th June 2012.
