Transport Africa Masters Scholarship 2013 The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), University of Leeds, is offering a fees scholarship worth £7500, to provide a unique opportunity to a student of outstanding ability, achievement and potential. The scholarship will fund 50% of the fees for a student from Africa to undertake a full-time Masters degree programme at ITS. The scholarship forms part of the ITS mission to advance the understanding of global transport, via the development of skills and best practice. It is envisaged that the scholarship recipient will take up employment in the transport sector in their home country after the Masters programme, to apply their new skills in an area of identified need.

Institute for Transport Studies ITS is recognised as one of the world’s largest and most successful University departments for transport teaching and research - as evidenced by the Research Assessment Exercise and the award of a Queen’s Anniversary Prize. The Institute offers a choice of five Masters degrees:

MA Transport Economics MSc Sustainability (Transport) MSc Transport Planning MSc Transport Planning and the Environment MSc (Eng) Transport Planning and Engineering

The programmes are accredited by leading professional bodies and equip students with the practical skills for progression to a professional-level career in the transport industries. Scholarship eligibility Applicants must first hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) of an academic place on an ITS Masters programme for the academic year commencing September 2013. They must be domiciled in an African country and be designated as ‘international fee status’ (please note that there are also ITS scholarship competitions for EU and other international students). Value of the scholarship The scholarship is a 50% fee waiver for the 2013-14 academic year, to the value of £7500. Application process Applicants should submit the ITS scholarship form and include a statement of 500 words on how a Masters degree from ITS would enable them to make a difference to transportation in their country or region, and specifically to tackle a significant problem or issue. Deadline Scholarship applications should be submitted to ITS no later than 13th June 2013.
