The luxury real estate market started out on a reasonably strong note. Then came the total shutdown in March and April. It looked like a movie rerun from around 2009, except there wasn’t the crazy lending occurring.

Dear Luxury Aficionados,

Fast forward to May, and sales started picking up. By June, things were very strong, and we thought the rest of the year might qualify as “normal”. Wrong. July, August, and September have been the strongest summer real estate market in our history, and we’re the oldest brokerage firm in the area. In those 3 months, that are traditionally the slowest of the year, the demand for houses and condos in our area has been amazing. Name almost any big city in the Northeast or Midwest, and we were seeing residents flocking to this area to get away from Covid and to find a lifestyle they could enjoy all year long. Even places like Miami, California, and Texas were sending buyers our way, albeit not intentionally, I’m sure. In particular, the luxury market is very strong, with the $2 million and up category showing a very strong increase in 2020 as compared to 2019.

Today, buyers still want all of those spaces, but they also desire private amenities to experience joy and relaxation on their own terms. Supporting Young Adults with Autism Veteran Realtor Anita Colletti proudly donates a portion of each closing proceeds to charitable organizations. Among those she and her musician husband Bill support is Meristem School, introduced to them by Jazz trumpeter/ artist/producer Rick Braun, his wife Christiane and their autistic daughter Emma. Meristem is dedicated to preparing young adults on the autism spectrum for a life of greater independence and fulfillment. Their program serves students ages 18-28 from all over the US, preparing these young adults to socialize and self-advocate, build a strong sense of self, and create a life of increased social and economic independence.
