Ebay - No Contact Information Would Be Seen On Business Seller Information Now eBay has decided to remove the seller contact information from the Business Seller Information section of its product pages across the EU countries. According to eBay’s announcement, they will continue to show the seller’s VAT number, Terms and Conditions, and policies. The new change will not show the contact information like Address, phone number, email address of the seller. The mobile version of the eBay site already had this view where it did not show the seller contact information. Now, with this change, the desktop site will get aligned with the mobile views.

How

would

your

customers

find

your

contact

information now? After the new change, the only way your customers will be able to find your contact information is by clicking on the seller's user ID at the top of the seller information block. This will open the seller profile page where the information can be found in the Business Details section. Here is an example from eBay UK listing:

Has it happened all of a sudden? No, I guess. eBay announced regarding this in their Spring 2017 release itself. The exact words of eBay were: “From September 2017, you’ll no longer be allowed to share contact information in your item descriptions, images, eBay Shops or seller profiles. This does not apply to Classified Ads. Your contact details will continue to be available to buyers in the Business seller information section. ” Sellers took these words as they won't be able to add the contact information in product descriptions but it will automatically show up in the Business Seller Information Block on the product page. However, it's not like that exactly. The contact information would not be shown in the business seller information. In fact, it has moved two clicks away from the product page. The user needs to first click on the seller's User-Id, and then on the "Business Details" on the next page that opens.

How will it affect our eBay PrestaShop integration module? More likely there is no effect on our PrestaShop eBay integration module of this new change. The module remains in complete sync with your eBay Merchant account. So, any thing that you cannot do on your eBay merchant account will obviously be not present on the module too.

Moreover, the module deals with the product listing, category mapping, Attribute mapping, and order synchronization etc, it has nothing to do with the seller contact information. So, if you are using our PrestaShop eBay integration module, be assured you won't face any issue. Just keep your eBay Merchant account updated as per the new rule and avoid writing contact information in the product description.
