In 2018, BAB Box, One Bangkok has opened its door for the launching of the first edition of Bangkok Art Biennale (BAB). Object. looks at the development and legacies of Minimalism from the 1950s to the present day, not only in the United States but also in Asia, Australia and Europe. RIFTS: Thai Contemporary Artistic Practices in Transition, 1980s – 2000s seeks to chronologically explore the contemporary art world in Thailand from the late 1980s, a period which arguably marked the beginning of a significant transition, well into the 2000s as the modern art movement in the country is believed to reach its zenith. Artistic phenomena of great magnitude were witnessed during that time as people started to challenge the artistic power structure in traditional institutions and conventional art practices. 05 IN SEARCH OF OTHER TIMES: REMINISCENCE OF THINGS COLLECTED ART EXHIBITION In Search of Other Times: Reminiscence of Things Collected, selected artworks, artifacts and objects from private collectors based in Thailand. The exhibition displays one-of-a-kind curiosities, rarefied historical artifacts, and progressive, modern, and contemporary artworks altogether. The curatorial approach aims to create a new dialogue between groundbreaking objects and artworks, to open up new interpretations on how to view and read these objects. The intertwined notions of aesthetic, cultural and historical values in this exhibition make it a place of knowledge, a place to wander around with pleasure, a space to search for other times. Mit Jai Inn composes the simplicity of visual elements through motifs of dots and lines. These components deliver the quality of complexity and vividness through color, presented for the viewer’s perception. The contrast of the vertical and horizontal lines on the opposite side of the canvas are rolled and forced to meet in the center, sharing a sense of serenity through its visual power. 10 DC COLLECTION FUND FOR THE ARTS 2020 GRANT PROJECT DC Collection Fund for The Arts 2020 is an open call grant for artists, curators, art workers or art organizations to apply for funding. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, DC Collection is aware of the problems in the arts scene of disruption and lack of funding for creation. The emergence of DC Collection Fund for The Arts 2020 aims to encourage art workers to continue their creativity in the current situation with a support budget of 50,000 - 100,000 THB per project.
