Inspiration

I was inspired by the bright coppers & reds that are trending. Lots of my clients are asking for warmer colours so I thought I’d go bold & incorporate them all together into this fiery sunset look. It fits well with the autumn, representing how leaves take on shades of yellow, orange & red, I

Method

Model is a natural Level 3.

Lightened to about a Level 9 with System

Blonde Ultra-Lifting Powder Lightener, Vitaplex 01 & Anti-Yellow Additive.

I used a colour melting/blending technique & placement was inspired by a California sunset blending from a blue sky to a purple-pink with the most of the middle being orange with bright yellow ends. I wanted to keep the underneath & front blue & yellow to add a large contrast of colours.

The colours used were all Dynamics, mixed together to create personalised/ custom colours.

Method

My model had a 3 inch regrowth of a level 5. Her mid lengths and ends were mainly a base 7 copper, however she did have a base 6 red panel underneath.

To start with I wanted to add some brighter pieces to disguise the darker panel, so I did 10 thick weave balayge foils scattered throughout the hair, leaving a halo section on top out of the foils for dimension. I took diagonal sections in order for the brighter pieces to lie seamlessly with no foil lines. I then added a face framing money piece using fine weaves to add lightness around the face, using diagonal sections back from the parting to create perfectly blended highlights. I feel this is the most important part for the client as it’s the first thing they see when they look in the mirror.

I used the System Blonde High Performance White Powder Lightener with 3% on the regrowth & Converter to clean up the ends, as we were only needing a Level 9 Yellow to get the desired tone. After I went over the regrowth, left out of the foils with INFINITI 6.666 & 3%, 1:1.5, to ensure we didn’t get root glow. I then melted in

BRed Red Copper with 6%, 1:1, through the mid-lengths of the hair & finishing with BRed Copper with 9%, 1:1, blended into the ends for brightness. This gave the seamless sunset bleed e ect I was looking for.

I let this process for 35 minutes, regularly checking strength of the hair in the foils to prevent any damage. When I took my client over to the basin I removed the foils & rinsed the colour, shampooing with ColourCare shampoo.

To tone the money piece, I used 5g of Colour Mango Smoothie with 2g added of BRed Copper refresher as a root melt. Then Mango Smoothie over the ends & for the rest of the pre-lightened sections. I let this sit for 10 minutes, then rinsed & conditioned with ColourCare conditioner.

To finish I used Kitoko Oil before detangling, MODE Root Boost & Kitoko Arte Sou é to create a gorgeous voluminous blow dry. After I curled & gave a generous spray of MODE Work-It to ensure my model has lots of movement to her bouncy curls.
