The Kenyan Boys Choir

Beyond the Barricade Brand New Show!

COOKING COMEDY Join the stars of BBC2’s The Hairy Bikers Cookbook, The Hairy Bikers Ride Again, The Hairy Bikers Come Home and The Hairy Bakers which was watched by more than four million viewers, for an evening of cooking, chatting and laughs. 2008 was rounded off with a one-hour Christmas Special, and Dave even won BBC’s Celebrity Mastermind, while Si took an admirable second place in BBC2’s Weakest Link. 2009 was busy for both with a giant 30-part series on BBC2 called The Hairy Bikers’ Food Tour of Britain. This year brings Mum Knows Best as well as the Bikers embarking upon their national tour.

MUSIC The Kenyan Boys Choir were brought to worldwide fame after performing at Barrack Obama’s inauguration. Formed in 1998 in Nairobi, the choir is made up of 24 choir boys aged between 14 and 25. The story behind the Kenyan Boys Choir is inspirational, with Joseph Muyale Inzai having given up his job in order to run the choir in the hope that it would give the boys a better start in life than he himself had. The Kenyan Boys Choir most recently had a huge success as the first ever African Choir to appear at the renowned Beijing International Music Festival in October 2009, with a sell-out show.

MUSIC Back by overwhelming public demand, the most successful and popular touring show of its kind, Beyond the Barricade returns with a brand-new 2010 production. Recreating original West End/Broadway musical hit songs with amazing authenticity, this cast of past principal performers from Les Misérables and other West End shows perform songs from Miss Saigon, The Lion King, Phantom Of the Opera, We Will Rock You, Blood Brothers and many more major hit productions, climaxing with a spectacular finale from, of course, Les Misérables! Imagination and Reginald D Modern Romance Hunter

A Special Tribute to Buddy Rich

Featuring Leee John

With the Pete Cater Big Band

MUSIC Leee John came to the world's attention with his group Imagination, which he founded in the early 80’s. Imagination's first gold record Body Talk was followed by hits such as In and Out of Love, Flashback, Music and Lights, In the Heat of the Night and Just an Illusion. Known for their outrageous costumes and stage shows they have been invited to perform for the Prince’s Trust, HRH Princess Diana and Prince Charles, Princess Caroline of Monaco, the Mandela family and even for the Russian president at the Kremlin. Modern Romance enjoyed success in the 80’s with hits such as Everybody Salsa, Ay Ay Ay Ay Moosey, Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White, Best Years of Our Lives and High Life.

COMEDY Reginald D Hunter’s uniquely non-secular approach to comedy continues to batter down the time-honoured constraints of politics, religion and so-called morality. This is comedy that doesn’t form alliances or make easy choices by playing to our comfort zones. It is comedy that attempts to make us see ourselves for what we are, without judgement. A regular performer at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe since 2002, Reginald was nominated for the Perrier Award three years in a row and for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award in 2006 as well as winning The Writers’ Guild Award for Comedy for his show Pride and Prejudice and Niggas, which he then presented in London’s West End and on a national tour of the UK.

MUSIC Britain’s greatest drummer Pete Cater presents an evening of Buddy Rich’s music. Jazz and broadcasting legend the late Humphrey Lyttelton once said on his Radio 2 show, ‘Now stand up everyone who thought that was the Buddy Rich band’. Britain’s original King of swing drumming, Jack Parnell says, ‘A simply terrific band and nobody could do a better tribute to Buddy Rich than Pete Cater.’ With accolades like these, lovers of swinging big band jazz played by the award-winning Pete Cater Big Band will enjoy a great concert. The arrangements are exactly the same as those played by the Buddy Rich Big Band and highlights will include Love for Sale, Norwegian Wood and the classic show-stopping medley from West Side Story.
