CITY OF WYLIE
Welcome to Wylie, Texas!
I hope you find that Wylie offers an outstanding quality of life and hometown feel to our more than 63,000 residents, a friendly and supportive environment for businesses, and unique opportunities for visitors. The recent birth of my daughter, Chloe, has only solidified why I care so deeply about Wylie and am so proud of the place my wife and I call home.
Founded in 1887, Wylie has a rich history you can still experience today in our historic downtown district. Take a walk down Ballard Avenue and stop in one of the unique shops or enjoy a meal at the many restaurants. Downtown Wylie is also home to numerous historic landmarks and buildings featuring Victorian and Craftsman architecture. You may run into me shopping this Christmas season!
Wylie hosts many events throughout the year, including our most recent community gathering, Boo on Ballard. I enjoyed the experience of trick-or-treating with 9,000 of our “closest” friends and neighbors. We have a community spirit like no other. We truly are Wide Awake Wylie.
Wylie has been named Best Place to Live and Best Place to Raise a Family in the U.S., and is known as one of the safest communities in the country. Wylie ISD is one of the top-rated districts in the state and students now have the opportunity to finish their secondary education right here in Wylie at our Collin College Wylie campus. Wylie Fire Rescue boasts the top ISO-1 rating, our police department is recognized for its outstanding work in our community, and our parks and recreation facilities offer opportunities for citizens to get out and be active.
Wylie is proud of the relationship between our local businesses and the community. We are home to a wide variety of companies including manufacturers, assemblers, retailers, restaurants, and more! Wylie Economic Development Corporation works hard to attract the right partners to meet the needs our citizens.
Finally, I encourage you to get involved in your city by attending City Council meetings, serving on a board or commission, or volunteering for events. The City Council and I also appreciate your patience as we meet the needs of our growing city and area, especially regarding road construction. We welcome your feedback. Please email Council@WylieTexas.gov with your concerns and ideas.
