Shoulder Tear : What to do? � The muscles get swollen which can be visible. In such scenario; it would be difficult to move your arm away from the body. � Physiotherapist can help you treating the tear in a rotator cuff with some simple easy Shoulder tear exercises exercises, massage and stretching. � With his instructions the pain can be evaded. However one needs to practice the instructions of physiotherapist. � The motion & pain are closely related. � With help of exercise; once you feel like the arm can be moved easily; the pain diminishes. � Usually post -surgery; the discomfort can be felt up to 4 to 6 weeks; this is the clear indication of requirement of more exercise. � The exercises instructed by the physiotherapist are like bible. � Do not overdo it else it can badly harm your shoulders. � Passive stretching exercises are usually advised. � This allows muscles to heal faster.

When it is required to see the doctor? � When you feel severe pain the tear rotator cuff at night which makes you sleepless; it is the time to see your physician. � The doctor can diagnose the torn rotator cuff based on the physical examination of the shoulder or the X Ray of the shoulder. � Sometimes, if the diagnose is not possible through X Ray; MRI is also carried out. MRI helps to provide the detailed picture of internal tissues. � In case of complete tear in rotator cuff; surgery is essential. � The surgery repairs the torn muscles removing bone spur which causes the muscle tear. � Post rotator cuff surgery; you might feel severe pain. � The treatment of healing process takes time along with physiotherapy.

� Post 13 to 14 days of surgery; usually the stitches are removed post which you can shower or bath. However ensure to keep the incision clean & dry un till then. � Doctors advise the cooling device and take pain killer medicines during or post discharge from hospital. � Once the stitches have been removed; prior to exercise, a hot shower can help you relaxing.

Follow these simple tips to take care of your shoulders � Do not carry heavy loads on shoulders. While carrying heavy objects; ensure to keep it close like hugging to your body. � Ensure to stand in a good body posture with your shoulders straight & back. � Ensure to avoid lying over on the affected shoulder side.
