PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS 1. Utilize 75 - 90% of the frame. This eliminates background “noise” in the shot and puts more focus on the hairstyle. Use the circle and rectangle rule as guides.

2. Having the client face front forward is usually not preferred unless from a side or high angle. Having the client positioned diagonally, sideways, or from the back will draw more attention to the hairstyle and the work of the stylist. Exceptions to this are client selfies, professional photo shoots, and unique, impromptu/off-guard shots. 3. Don’t be square! Instagram enables portrait style photos, which means you can take up more space on the screen and grab people’s attention with your post. Opt to use 3:4 ratio frames to capture photos in Rookie Cam.
4. Quality is key. Make sure lighting and sharpness of the photo is at it’s best. Natural lighting from the salon window or shooting outside is good. Shooting with brick as the background is okay as long the hairstyle takes up 80% or more of the frame. Beware of too much light or “washed out” photos. Avoid blur. Lighter color or non-competing backgrounds will showcase the style best.
