TMS is registered as an independent company rendering private security services and training to all different types of ships, crafts, support vessels, port facilities, personnel and any other legal entities at sea and on shore, internationally. Today, TMS is a cutting edge provider of wide range cost effective and efficient maritime security services, managed by a highly motivated group of professionals with track record of successful vessel escorting in high risk areas. TMS has outstanding individuals at every organizational level characterized by their commitment to the task and responsiveness to our clients, but also by their extreme competence, respectful manner and determined nature. Our goal is to ensure that in each operation we deliver the optimal outcome with specific emphasis on ships’ crew, cargo and material security, enabling our clients to sail through the high risk areas with the highest confidence and minimal disturbance.

TMS is a highly professional and reliable company, founded to meet the increasing client-specific demands. Currently, TMS is supplying maritime security services to many shipping companies. We have successfully completed all the assigned voyages, with no damage to ship, passengers or crew. We fully understand all the relevant maritime industry concerns and expectations. Our personnel have deep, attested knowledge and experience of international maritime security challenges, as well as of the issues related to dangers from modern piracy.

We are specialized in providing security to merchant vessels, passengers, crew and cargo during their transit through areas where the threat of piracy and the risk of other illegal activities is increased. In the view of modern piracy threat in West Africa, Indian Ocean and the surrounding seas, TMS is offering to ships and yacht owners a comprehensive on-board security protection with a very short notice to the very highest standards. TMS is committed to provide exceptionally skilled, well-disciplined armed teams of guards. Operations are conducted mainly by ex-Navy Seals and ex-Army Special Forces with a background and multi-year of experience in maritime security. We always focus on the anticipation and the pre-emption of any potentially hazardous situation. When a threat arises our teams react quickly to confront it effectively before it becomes a serious incident. Our competitive advantages are: • Fully qualified personnel with great operational experience in antipiracy operations in West Africa, Indian Ocean and the surrounding seas. • Security Team members on board vessels are mainly former Navy or Army Special Forces, with a background and long experience in covert/uncovert operations, as well as in amphibious and maritime interdiction operations and missions, screened for their ability to adapt their military skills to a civilian shipping operation. • Security guards are well disciplined with controlled reactions due to their long common service in Special Forces and the extensive training they are receiving as Maritime Security Officers/Operatives, in a regular basis (including the use of firearms). • Security Teams use practical, effective, non-escalatory equipment and apply highly standardized procedures, conforming to the highest maritime security international norms. • Effective confrontation of an incident (piracy attack) before the need for the implementation of the last resort (Citadel). • Sufficient working English language skill, by all of our security guards.

Services

The primary service our company provides in the field of maritime security is the assignment of the necessary numbered, appropriately trained and equipped teams of armed guards on board merchant vessels, transiting high risk areas. Our Security Teams, in cooperation with the vessel’s Master and crew are taking advantage of ship’s operational features and physical characteristics, creating an inaccessible shield around the vessel in order to minimize the probability of seizure by pirates. For this purpose, special attention is given to the correct preparation of the vessel, the cooperation with ship’s crew, ensuring the effective reaction wherever and whenever is needed, abiding under Master’s permission to the Rules for the Use of Force (RUF). Besides their firearms, our Security Teams are equipped with all necessary means to successfully perform their duties and accomplish their mission, such as special uniforms, personal safety items,

communication equipment and first aid kits, helping them to confront the emergency situations. TMS can also offer a variety of other high quality services according to clients’ needs, such as planning and risk assessment of travelling through high risk areas (identification and mitigation of the risks while underway or at anchorage), maritime security training and consulting (in particular on piracy related issues), as well as VIP escorting.

Management Structure

TMS is led by General Manager, Athanasios Makris an international business graduate and cofounder of the company. He is supported by a strong Management Team, providing leadership and support to all functions in the business.

Compliance

TMS has undergone strict process of due diligence by major shipping operators. Our Operating Procedures (SOP), Rules for the Use of Force (RUF) and insurances exceed the requirements directed by the IMO guidance as well as the recommendations of other major Maritime Security Associations. Quality Management Though TMS currently operates officially according to ISO 9001:2008 certification

by TUV AUSTRIA HELLAS, we have already established an ongoing evaluation of compliance with the security management system ISO/PAS 28007 (2012), in pursuing the need for continual improvement and performance enhancement, whilst remaining consistent with our existing policies.

Operations Center

TMS maintains a 24/7 Operations Center to monitor all incoming email and phones calls (email: info@triaena-ms.com, Phone: +30 2108083674, Fax: +30 2108083679, Cell: +30 6944551188, +30 6972863823, +30 6943485072) Operations Center provides reports and intelligence updates concerning piracy activity, taking into account among other the intelligence products of UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), Maritime Security Centre Horn Of Africa (MSCHOA), NATO Shipping Centre (NSC) and Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI). Our supporting personnel understand the importance of smooth logistics to ensure the legal, timely and undisturbed deployment and support to the operational teams. We always use carefully selected collaborators for support and keep ourselves in 24/7 watch for any operation. TMS conducts Risk/Vulnerability Assessment according to BMP4 guidelines. Finally, according to our Security Teams’ Post Operations Report (POR), TMS Operations Managers provide to our clients specific recommendations for each vessel.

10.3

Personnel Recruitment

Our security guards are recruited with strict criteria to ensure the best performance and operational output during missions while maintaining flawless cooperation with the vessel’s crew. TMS utilizes English-speaking candidates with very good health/physical condition and psychological profile and prior service in the Armed Forces, mainly in the Special Forces. TMS security guards minimum criteria, on which the pre-employment process is based, are as follows: a) Valid passport, expiring not sooner than 6 months. b) Military service discharge papers (discharge certificate or certificate of service). c) CV, including previous employment history, operational experience, personal references and testimonial. d) Sufficient English Language skill. e) MSO (Maritime Security Operative/Officer) course certificate (requirement only for the Team Leaders).

f) Assessment of medical fitness (this may include written evidence from a health professional). g) Valid Seafarers Medical/Health certificate. h) Yellow Fever Vaccination Card. i) Psychiatric Certificate stating no history of any mental health issues (this may include psychometric testing and/or written evidence from a health professional). j) History of drugs and alcohol (D&A) abuse. k) STCW 95 certified all 4 modules: • • • •

Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (basic fire fighting). Personal Survival Techniques (PST). Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR). First Aid / CPR (Basic First Aid).

All applicants, before invited to an interview, they have to be sure that fully understand and accept the principles and standards of the following documents: • ICoC (International Code of Conduct) for PSSP (Private Security Service Providers). • Voluntary Principles on Security & Human Rights. • UN basic principles on the use of force and firearms by Law Enforcement Officials (1990). • BMP4 (Best Management Practices for protection against Somalia based piracy) The initial evaluation of candidates is based on their application data. Only suitable applicants are invited to an interview.

Security Teams

Seamanship, professional training, ethics and moral, combined with the operational awareness and experience of our teams, ensure the genuine and productive collaboration and teamwork with vessels’ crews. This leads to the optimal preparation and readiness to confront the piracy threats, as well as the most effective reactions during the phase of attack, abiding to the agreed with the Master TMS’s Rules for the Use of Force (RUF). Each of our Security Teams consists of: •

The Team Leader, which is highly experienced Maritime Security Operative (MSO) with a predefined number of successful transits through high risk areas.

Another 2-3 team members, which are qualified Maritime Security Operatives (MSO), trained in accordance with company’s Training Program.

10.6

Security Teams’ Training

The operational demands of providing effective shipboard security involves working long hours at maximum levels of alertness. This requires exceptional training, character, concentration and the ability to act instinctively when required. To keep these qualities, all our guards are trained regularly and are required to pass competency tests and maintain their skills when not on active duty; this routine includes fitness training, refresher training and live firing exercises to keep a continuous familiarization with their weapons. Our Maritime Security Operatives (MSO) initial and refresher courses are conducted by carefully selected experts, emphasizing on the following training subjects: • • • • • • • • • • •

Triaena MS “Code of Conduct”. Personal sea survival techniques, fire prevention and fire-fighting, personal safety and social responsibilities, elementary first aid/CPR (according to STCW). Trauma management (by certified medics). Team Leader & Security Team roles and responsibilities. Key legal concepts and regulatory framework. Triaena MS Policies and Procedures (SOP). Ship hardening according to BMP4 guidelines. Tanker familiarization. Rules for the Use of Force (RUF). Threat assessment, vessel vulnerability and risk mitigation Crisis response incident & emergency management, reaction and follow-up.

10.7

Security Teams’ Responsibilities

They are familiar and conform to all international, national laws where they operate and co-ordinate with the local authorities and agents about the transport, storage of their weapons, as well as with the Master and crew on board the vessel they are assigned to protect.

Carry out complete vessel audit/inspection in order to identify all risks and recommend to Master the areas of improvement for best vessel defence.

Advice Master with useful intelligence regarding the transit area and the equipment use policy through the high risk areas, as well as on the anti-piracy defensive methods and tactics tailored to vessel’s specific features.

Consult and assist, after evaluation, the ship’s Master and crew on the most effective reinforcement of the physical protection measures, in order to prepare the vessel to be ready and able for counter response against any potential piracy threat.

Conduct Vessel Hardening together with the crew.

Identify and set up the safest place (Citadel), as the last crew resort during a piracy attack.

Discuss the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Rules on the Use of Force (RUF) with the Master. They explain their tasks on board and how will be carried out

and agree with the Master the way they plan to operate. They ensure that the firearms cannot be used unless it is agreed by the Master and only in imminent danger. •

Test weapons and check all security equipment is in good order.

Provide the ship’s crew anti-piracy training through lectures/briefings followed regularly by practice drills, before and during the passage through the high risk area, aiming at a more effective response to suspicious activities, piracy attack and pirates on board the vessel.

Collect information, analyze the situation and assess the threat level.

Ensure that vessel’s watch and surveillance system is optimized to the threat level, for a timely detection to avoid surprise, to deter, as well as to react promptly against any pirate attempt by applying BMP4 guidance.

Under Master’s permission, act in accordance with our Rules for Use of Force (RUF) to protect the crew and the vessel, abiding strictly by the UNCLOS, ICoC and the relevant flag states’ laws.
