Catholic, Co-Educational

AT XAVERIAN, YOU WILL FIND A SCHOOL WHERE EVERY STUDENT MATTERS.

Catholic Identity Matters.

Molding Christian leaders who convert their faith into action. Our Catholic identity is the foundation for everything we do at Xaverian. It is our goal to mold our students into Christian leaders who convert their faith into action. This transformation occurs through daily prayer, school-wide masses, retreats at every grade level and Kairos retreats for upperclassmen, community service initiatives, and a rigorous, academic religion curriculum. Students are welcome to speak with our campus ministers, focus on their service initiatives, or find space for their continued prayer and reflection in our new campus ministry center.

Xaverian’s religion curriculum develops each student’s intellectual, moral, and spiritual potential, consistent with each one’s dignity and religious tradition. We strive to enable students to grow in the Catholic faith and to develop an appreciation and respect for other religions. A strong emphasis is placed on the concepts of social justice, service to the community, and the conviction that Catholic education is an expression of the mission entrusted to the Church by Jesus Christ. Xaverian is proud to have Fr. Sean Suckiel and Msgr. Peter Kain as our Chaplains, along with the Very Rev. Eugene Pappas, a renowned ecumenist, educator, missionary, and social activist, as our Christian Orthodox Chaplain. Twice monthly, Xaverian’s Christian Orthodox students gather to grow in their faith and pray together. Students are religious leaders within the school community; having the opportunity to organize and lead retreats, and serve as leaders at the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored School Retreats, where they meet students from the Xaverian schools in Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, and Massachusetts.

Ser vice Matters.

“Falling in love with the service of God.” Xaverian’s Campus Ministry program provides students with many opportunities to fall in love with service, from volunteering at a local soup kitchen to hosting local senior citizens for a fun-filled day of cheer near the holidays. Service efforts culminate in the Senior Involvement Program, where each senior dedicates a part of his/her week to volunteering at schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and soup kitchens as a means of living out our Catholic faith.

The beauty of Bay Ridge, combined with the opportunities of NYC. Located on the waterfront in beautiful Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, the fields and parks of Shore Road serve as our extended campus. Our proximity to Manhattan allows for museums and other cultural institutions to serve as our classrooms.

Opportunities Matter.

Access to the World Xaverian’s music, campus ministry, and extracurricular programs facilitate global travel for our students to locations such as Belgium, Germany, Italy and Spain. Xaverian offers an exchange program with the first Xaverian school, located in Bruges, Belgium - The Xaverian Institute of St. Francis. Students visit each other’s schools to learn about the other’s city, country, and culture. Xaverian’s Model United Nations Club travels annually to BERMUN, a threeday, international Model UN conference with more than 700 participants in Berlin, Germany. Students in Xaverian’s music program travel bi-annually to Japan to perform as part of a cultural exchange program called the “B Bridges.” Students also have the opportunity to travel to Italy or Spain for cultural enrichment. An Easter Break cultural immersion trip is available for students and their parents. The trip rotates it’s destination annually, with Italy and Spain being recent experiences.

cultivate the talents, interests and scholastic aptitude of its students through an interdisciplinary approach to academic study. Through a study of the core curriculum, students in the program will have the opportunity to view the connections among distinct subject areas via complementary experiences integrated through enhanced exercises in critical reading, creative writing and the use of technology as both a research and writing instrument. Students who successfully complete the Honors Program are expected to continue into one of the AP Honors Programs which offer multiple Advanced Placement courses in various subjects, allowing students to study at the college level and earn credit that they can take with them into their future studies. We also offer “dual-enrollment courses through our partnerships with St. John’s University and Syracuse University.

Experience Matters.

Internship program takes learning to new heights. Xaverian offers a unique internship experience for those students in the Honors Program. Based upon their preprofessional pathway, students are enrolled in IPAX, Internship Program at Xaverian. Relying on the resources of an alumni network of over 18,000 Clippers, students are paired with an alumnus in their desired field of study. Whether it be NYS Supreme Court Justices, doctors, advertising executives, or a Major League Baseball executive, students are able to experience their passions in the real-world, getting real-world advice and insight from their fellow Clipper.

“My internship with TradeMas Inc. was way more than just fulfilling hours for a school assignment. I never thought I would ever be able to say that at 17 years old I would be on the floor of the stock exchange, shadowing my mentor. Getting that real-life experience is something that has really only made me realize that this is what I want to pursue after high-school – and it has provided me with experiences that truly set me apart from other candidates when it comes time to apply to college.” –Logan Deitchman ‘20

College Prep Matters.

Preparation for college begins the minute you become a Clipper. Xaverian’s school counseling program works closely with each individual student on a variety of topics, but with a constant eye towards a successful college application process. Xaverian’s counselors assist all students in assessing and understanding their abilities, interests, and educational needs to prepare them to make informed, positive decisions as productive members of an ever changing world. A newly remodeled Student Counseling Center allows for students to work collaboratively with their Guidance counselors. In addition, two College Counselors are on staff to oversee the rigorous application process that students face in today’s world. The Class of 2020 was awarded over 90 million dollars in scholarships. Within the graduating class, there were 30 student-athletes committed to play on the collegiate level, 12 Ivy League Acceptances, 6 Macaulay Honors Scholars, 3 B.A. - M.D. Program Acceptances, and 1 National Merit Scholarship Award Winner.
