Conversion to a 4.0 system
COVID Consideration Xavier High School ceased in-person learning 90 = 3.5 75 = 2.0 on 3/12/2020 and transitioned to fully remote learning on 3/19/2020. Classes met using an 85 = 3.0 70 = 1.5 asynchronous schedule that allowed for greater flexibility and individualized pacing to meet the needs of all members of our school community. Throughout the week, teachers were available for virtual office hours allowing for personalized face-time check-ins with their students. Regarding Semester 2 grading, we merged the 3rd & 4th quarter. Students had a cumulative final assessment which was 10% of their final grade. The grades students earned reflect the same rigorous, college preparatory standards that our students are held to during regular in-person instruction. For the 2020-2021 school year, classes will begin on time on 9/10/20 in a hybrid model. With the exception of periodic virtual community days, which will deliver programming to address the total development of each student emotionally, socially, physically, and spiritually, courses will meet on a four day cycle with each class meeting 2/4 days. Numerical grading will remain in place, regardless of instructional method, and fully remote learning is available if requested.
