Metamorphosis
Hina Jamelle Studio | Structural Consultant: Arup In collaboration with Chi-Yin Lee LOCATION Tribeca | New York City PROGRAM Office and Residential AREA 557700ft2 | 51812m2 HEIGHT 475ft
Metamorphosis is a tower that transforms as one ascends the building. The transformation consists of the structure, the program, the spaces, and the form. The site strategy begins with connecting the surrounding green areas to the site and bringing in the pedestrian and car circulation. Public spaces are introduced on the ground floor and revolve around the tower. The spaces of the building changes as the program transforms from open office spaces into compartmentalized residential spaces.

Sunken Plaza Perspective The sunken plaza connects the existing subway station with the building and invites the pedestrian into the space. As the sunlight hits the stairs above, it creates radiating shadows, activating the sunken plaza. The sunken plaza space is an interesting juxtaposition between the above-below space and outdoor-indoor space. This semi outdoor/indoor space acts as an outdoor public space as well as buffer zone for the sunken plaza entrance into the building.

series of drawings studies new ideas and techniques of
landscape representation.
My
ideal city is a city where court-
yards connect to courtyards, paths intertwine and blur public with private spaces.
Through a combination of photography and
sketches, the drawings capture the essence of an idea of the place.
