Culture is the blood and soul of a society which carries the custom accumulated for several generations. That's also forms the values and aesthetic of local residents. Culture shock may appears when something new was invited to an ancient town, so that as a designer should balance the design and be aware of the risk of disharmony not only in the pespective of art, but also that in the culture.

Japanese tea ceremony is not only a social activity but can also be perceived as a process of Zen. They believe that every single ceremony is a 'once in a lifetime' experience and the environment plays an important role for helping people concentrate and selfcleanning so that they are able to appreciate the bueaty of this ceremony itself as well as the bueaty of nature.

Street Activation Asheville Street Reform and Landscape Design
Time : Oct 2015 ( 1st Semester, 2nd Year Graduate ) Location: Asheville, North Carolina Area : 5.8 Acre Instructor: Hyejung Chang, Associate Professor The name of my project is ‘Street Activation’ and it concerns about the urban vitality and pedestrian accessibility. In order to achieve that in the city of Asheville, the existing problems result from city sprawl and poor planning have to be solved. Aiming at the disconnection of the important streets in the core area, this design would propose a fluent flow throughout the corridor as well as making the site itself to become an attraction to draw the attention from both the residents and tourists. By increasing the pedestrian accessibility and creating interesting spaces, the downtown is able to invite people to enjoy the attractive city.

Defuse the City Core Xizhimen Square Design
Time : Feb 2016 (2nd Semester, 2nd Year Graduate) Location: Xizhimen, Xicheng District, Beijing, China Area :
4.62 Acre
Instructor: Hyejung, Chang
It's never easy being a pedestrian in some big cities like Beijing. All the crowding, congestion, disorder and safety issues are lowing user experience in every minute. City centers are overwhelmed with all of transit modes clustered, so do the tired commuters. It's the timing for the designers to do there job, like a explosives expert defuse a bomb
