INTERTWINED Shared Maker Hub
Type:Educational Size:1283 ㎡ Date:March 2017 Site:Tongji community in Zhangwu Road in Shanghai Tutor:Prof. Yanbo Li Personal Work Project Description: The site is located in a corner of the residential area of Tongji New Village, and the current situation is the living condition of the city where residents come and go frequently. At the same time, the surrounding area is close to the main campus of Tongji University, Tongji University subway station, and office buildings. The diversity of people around the site provides new ideas for the design of the Maker Community. The design starts from the two roles of the public and the maker, and integrates the public space that the public can participate into the fourstory maker hub. On the one hand, the maker can fully communicate with the public and inspire new creative ideas. On the other hand, for the public, the placement of public space provides a place for leisure activities for the public. The closer the ground floor space is, the more open it is, the higher the public participation, and the original atmosphere of market life on the ground floor space is retained.

Subway station-Travelers STEP 1: Maximize the massing based on the footprint.
STEP 2: Raise the groundfloor space to open to public, and at the same time create shared space in the vertical direction.
STEP 3: Integrate the open space in groundfloor with the shared space in vertical direction to form a system that gradually shrinks from the bottom to top.
STEP 4: The system is organised as a superposition of different layers of boxes. And a continuous spiral staircase is placed in the middle.
STEP 5: Move the position of the boxes slightly according to the function. And put small boxes with different functions in the groundfloor.
STEP 6: A triangular space is designed at the main entrance. And the facade is also treated with a triangular shape to match the entrance.

SUPER LINEAR PARK Horizontal Extension of Greenery
Type:Educational Size:40451 ㎡ Date:March 2020 Site:Kuanzhai Alley Street in Chengdu Tutor:Prof. Yi Wang (Tel: +8613901957309, Email: wangyicaup@tongji.edu.cn) Personal Work Project Description: This is an urban design project. The site is close to the tourist attractions of Kuanzhai Alley in Chengdu, and the target audience is diverse. On the one hand, there are many tourists, on the other hand, there are a large number of local residents of Chengdu. Most of the surrounding areas of the site are residential communities. Except for a few rare modern communities, the others are mostly high-density neighborhoods. The crowded community environment, lack of community greening, insufficient activity space, and random commercial facilities are a true portrayal of the surrounding communities. How to solve the real needs of a community while relying on tourism resources for urban renewal is worthy of our in-depth discussion in the design. The northeast corner of the site has a piece of green space and river resources. The design is based on natural resources and introduced the concept of landscape urbanism to create a W-shaped green park. The linear space connects various functional buildings placed around it and creates a green public space in a high-density space.

STEP1: Extend road axis
STEP2: Extend greenery
Select the road with the largest flow of people and extend the original road axis to the base. The road axis form a node with the boundary of the site or with the subway station inside the site.
Starting from the existing greenery on the one side of the site, and ending with the exsiting community committees on the other corner of the site, connecting all the nodes to form a "W" linear systeem.
STEP3: Up and down
STEP4: Set up greening and building
The "W" linear system is raised and lowered to form a continuous walking ramp.
Set up large areas of greening and building around the linear system. The greenery can be on the ground or on the building.

BUILDING PARK Vertical Extension of Greenery
Type:Educational Size:15900 ㎡ Date:May 2020 Site:Kuanzhai Alley Street in Chengdu Tutor:Prof. Yi Wang (Tel: +8613901957309, Email: wangyicaup@tongji.edu.cn) Personal Work Project Description: This is one of the buildings in the super linear park. In the design process, on the one hand, we uphold the concept of functional integration and crowd integration. The three buildings have different architectural functions for different groups of people (residents, tourists, workers). Specific building units include the flower and bird market in the far north, the community activity center in the middle, and the high-rise office SOHO in the south. In addition, it also adheres to the concept of green and openness, so that the natural resources of riverside greening can continue in the vertical buildings. The three buildings retreat at different heights to form green platforms of different sizes, ensuring the continuation of green resources in the vertical direction, so that the building has strong openness and publicity. In addition, in order to promote communication and symbiosis between different groups of users, the outdoor greening platforms of the three buildings are fully utilized, and the segments of the platforms are connected with corridors, so that the three can have corridor spaces that can accommodate each other at different heights to ensure Interpenetration, communication and integration .

BUILDING PARK--Vertical Extension of Greenery
Section A-A Starting from the existing river green space on the site, a green ramp was created between the two buildings to slowly introduce the flow of people from the public space into the building, increasing the accessibility of the building.
Section B-B The green ramp extends to the bottom of the building on one side, forming an open ground floor space. At the same time, the buildings around the ramp form concessional green platforms on different floors to increase the publicity of the building.

COLLECTIVE HOUSING Architecture as a Process
Type: “Beautiful Village” Youth Creative Design Competition The First Prize Size:3600 ㎡ Date:July 2019 Site:Sanxing town in Chongming Island in Shanghai General Manager of the competition: Peng Du( Tel: 86+13795433099 Email: shanghai_join@126.com) Team Work: This is part of the complete rural planning competition, which I and Jiazhen Li (my classmate) were invited by Peng Du ( our senior classmate and the founder of the Join Architecture Design Company ) to take part in. I created the collective housing mentioned in the portfolio and finished the related drawings and made the physical model. Other works made by teammates are not shown in the portfolio. The teammates like Jiazhen Li maked the related diagrams of the rural panning. Qilin Zhu, Huimin Pan, Xuewei Zhang and Denghong Cheng created the villas and high-rise residengtal in the works. Huadong Zhou was our technical specification consultant. Ziyi Huang was the secretary of the contest. Peng Du was the general manager of the competition and under his guidance we gained the first prize in the competition.
Project Description: The Beautiful Countryside Competition is located in Sanxing Town, Chongming Island, Shanghai, re-planning the entire village. As one of the many building units in rural planning, the collective housing is designed mainly to preserve the lifestyle that farmers are accustomed to, integrating planting farmland, daily communication courtyards, and social public spaces into the multi-storey collective housing. Taking into account the serious aging trend of Sanxing Town, the collective housing with sufficient public space provides the possibility for the replacement of users and functions of buildings in the future.

As time goes by, the person who use the building will change
Sanxing Town on Chongming Island is located on the outskirts of Shanghai, a 1.5-hour drive from the center of Shanghai. The local area has long been mainly based on the development of agriculture, and the economy is underdeveloped, which has caused a serious loss of youth population. In recent years, the government has made great efforts to develop tourism by making use of the local rich natural resources. It wants to attract more people from the city center to spend a holiday or work here, enhancing the significance of the entire rural planning.

Third floor plan in Phase Ⅲ In PHASE Ⅲ , the residential building will be replaced with office building. By removing part of the partition walls in the building, the previously small residential units will become large and spacious office spaces. Corridors and hollowed-out platforms in the building provide a large amount of communication space for workers. The supporting elevators located in the four corners ensure the daily operation of the public building.
