suggest that the primary role and management of the Green Belt is currently not ecologically relevant and that much of the Green Belt is not even open to the public due to the complexity of land ownership and management in the UK. London's rapid development and population growth is also putting pressure on Green Belt policy, but we do not believe that building housing in the Green Belt is the answer, but rather that the primary function of the Green Belt should be changed from preventing urban sprawl to the ecological and agricultural functions of the Green Belt. By improving the ecology of the green belt, adding value to the land, developing sustainable agriculture, and managing fragmented land through an app or webpage, we hope to engage different groups of people, facilitate government and farmers to manage their own land in a situation where land ownership and management rights are confusing, and include people in activities to optimise and manage the land. Increasing the value of green belts close to low density suburbs (e.g. providing agricultural employment, increasing children's activities) without losing green belt area, exacerbating ecological anxiety, addressing practical needs and not leaving green belts in a constrained state.
