elcome to your inside view of the ever-changing world of fashion!

I started this magazine with one thing in mind – to offer you information that may be helpful to your career in the fashion industry. On the newsstands or in bookstores you see fashion magazines with stylish girls or suave guys on the cover; you open them up and see more beautiful people. Ever wonder how those people got there? Ever wanted to know who the folks are behind the scenes making them look good? To be in the fashion industry is your ultimate goal. But how do you do it? Where do you start as a model? Where do you go to get a good photographer? How about an agency that will prepare you for other top agencies or get you work? Where do you find a good makeup artist? Can you become a makeup artist? These are the topics that we will address in this and future editions of i-Fashion Magazine. We won’t bombard you with too many fancy photos, unless it’s from one of New York’s most famous fashion shows, or shove advertisements down your throat. We do promise to be as informative as possible to better further your modeling, designer, makeup or hair stylist career aspirations. As an added benefit, we have partnered with several modeling agencies and will highlight some of their most sought after clients who will give you tips and tricks of the industry. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to use our experience to serve and inform you in your pursuit of a career in the world of fashion. Wishing you nothing but the best,

Lloyd Crawford Editor-In-Chief

Head up High, Back Arched, Suck In That Stomach, Toot That Behind Out, Arms Relaxed, Model Stance, Pose ……NOW Walk! Sound familiar? Well if you have worked with me, you’ve heard that and then some. As the Fashion Director for Xpozure Modeling and the Managing Editor for i-Fashion Magazine, I want you to experience the behind-the-scenes preparations for every aspect of the fashion industry. This would include runway training, fashion shows, model calls, go-sees, casting calls, designer competitions, hair and makeup. Every thing that could go wrong usually does even with an air tight plan. The best thing you need to learn is to be PREPARED.

most important piece of advice I can tell you is to always be true to yourself….your personality and confidence will speak volumes before you ever open your mouth. As a male in this business, you have to stay on top of your game too. You have to make sure that you stay physically fit, you have to take care of your abs, you MUST take care of your shoes….You have to take YOU seriously if you want others to do the same. The best advice I can give to you men out there is don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. There is a gig for everyone…big, small, short or tall, there is a job for you. Keep pounding the pavement! I’ve been in this business for over 25 years and I’ve had my share of lessons learned. From starting out as an aspiring model, to getting taken advantage of by modeling schools and photographers; to being a model in numerous fashion shows, to producing some of the hottest fashion shows; to training models how to walk the runway, to running an entire modeling agency…. I’ve done it all! This business we call the Fashion Industry can be the most frustrating career ever and can go all the way up to the most fabulous career of a lifetime…. It is what YOU make it! You either love it or you don’t, so as my son would say…. Go Hard or Go Home!

In this issue, you will read stories of what to do and what not to do, what to pack in your model bag…. SHOES! SHOES! SHOES! Plus hair and makeup tips. You’ll see some of the latest fashions from some of the world’s most famous designers as well as some up and rising new designers. You’ll learn how to find a really good photographer who won’t take advantage of you and some modeling agencies as well. Your best line of defense is knowledge because as in all things, knowledge is power in the fashion industry. If you don’t know, there is ALWAYS someone out there waiting to tell you their version of it and it won’t always be pretty! Be smart, be mindful, be vibrant, be fabulous…Be YOU! Smooches Diva’s and Gent’s,

As a Diva, you have to stay on top of your game, Ms.Diva, read up on the latest fashions, study the poses of the models that have made it in this industry…. Check out their magazines….make necessary changes on your body that YOU feel is necessary…. Managing Editor, i-Fashion Magazine

i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

M

ichele M. Walden brings chic to the term “Knitwear.” Through her MICHI Knitwear designs, Walden creates sophisticated knits that are easy to wear and easy to pack. With off-the-shoulder designs and hip-hugging evening attire, or loose and breezy summer afternoon wear, MICHI Knitwear makes a unique statement for all women – tall, short, large, small and in between. Walden custom designs and fits the pieces for her clients and does not call the outfit complete until the customer is satisfied. A Queens, NY native, Walden has been knitting for over 20 years. Initially hand-knitting all of her designs, Walden’s fashion statements have included jumpsuits, bathing suits, dresses, suits, two-piece outfits, sweaters, shrugs and scarves. After completing courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Walden has become proficient in using the knitting machine to create the majority of her pieces. These include what is quickly becoming one of her trademarks: knitwear adorned with cowrie shells. Each of her pieces, whether completed by hand or on the knitting machine, is either a one-of-a-kind or limited edition creation. She uses carefully selected yarns that vary from silks to rayon, wool to linen; and runs a gamut of colors from orange to muted tans, to fuchsia and olive green. In the years that Walden has been designing MICHI Knitwear, she has participated in a number of competitions, fashion shows and grant programs from New York City to Boston and San Diego.

A Little Q & A with the Queen of Knitwear Q – Why Knitwear? A – As a child I learned how to knit and didn’t realize my passion for it until I started having children. I love working with yarn and translating it into wearable art. It’s a dying craft with so much to offer. Most people can’t do it. Q – What was your inspiration? A – Colors, shapes, sensuality and being feminine. Q – How did you first get started in designing? A – Having children and wanting to make something special for them. As a stay-at-home mom, I did some piece work for a woman and realized she took structures and changed the patterns. I figured, HEY!! I could do that and I did! I entered a designer’s competition while living in Boston with my hand knits and won. It was then that I really knew I was on to something. i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

Q – What is your favorite season for fashion? A – Summer. Q – What is your price range? A – Tops start at $125.00, skirts start at $175.00 and full outfits, including dresses, start at $375.00. Q – Do you have a favorite designer? A – God, the creator of it all. Q – How are your clothes different from other designers? A – I am strictly a knitwear designer. I knit and create the fabric and outfit from scratch (yarn). My pieces are not cut and sewn. Q – Where can we purchase your clothing? A – Currently my pieces can be purchased or ordered from my website. In the coming months, I plan to be in at least 2-4 boutiques. Q – How many different sizes do you create? A – When I am doing a custom order, it is based on the individual’s measurements; so technically, I design for all sizes. However, my line will consist of sizes small to large with custom orders for any size or specifics. Q – What age group are you targeting? A – From age 25 to the you-are-no-longer-interestedin-looking fashionable age group. Q – What was your biggest hurdle? A – Realizing that I had a product that people were interested in and that I had to stop looking at what I was doing as a hobby; that I had to start treating it as a business. Also, not really being prepared, nor having the emotional and financial support. I also did not

have the business acumen and the investment to do it right. All of that and juggling raising children while trying to live my passion, and realizing that all those fashion shows weren’t bringing in clients or money. Q – How long does it take for you to create a design? A – During the slow fall and winter season, I’d say about a 2-week turn around which includes ordering the yarn. During the spring and summer, it takes approximately 3 weeks. If it’s a rush order, I generally charge a rush fee. Q – Were you school trained? If yes where? If no, how did you learn or who taught you? A – I learned to use the knitting machine at one of the continuing education courses taught at F.I.T. While in an electronics program in Boston, a woman in my class re-taught me how to knit and showed me things I didn’t know. All the rest is from me being creative. Q – What type of fabric do you use? A – Although I use mainly rayon yarn, I also use linen, cotton, silk, and bamboo. I love mixing yarns together to get a variegated look. Q – What do you dislike most about the industry? A – It’s hard to make the right contacts and get people interested in what you are doing. The media doesn’t seem to be interested unless you already have a name or a big following. Q – What advice would you give someone just starting in this industry?

i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

A – If it’s your passion, DON’T GIVE UP!!!!. Learn the business aspects of the industry. Don’t try to do it all and scrutinize your options. See what the benefits will be for your future. Don’t believe all you hear and enjoy the process of creating and seeing the finished product. Q – What was your worst experience when putting on a show? A – Having a model tell me she couldn’t wear my clothes because she was allergic to them. She told me this after fitting her for several pieces at least a week before the show and knowing that it was B.S. It was just because my pieces were hand knit fabrics. From that experience I will not put a model in a piece she isn’t comfortable wearing. Q – What don’t you want a model to do when on the runway with your garments? A – Even before they get to the runway, I would hate to see make-up on the clothes. I also don’t like when they exaggerate their walk and be too serious. I feel my clothes are fun to wear and want models to bring across that they feel good in my clothes. Q – Have you ever gotten so frustrated that you wanted to quit? A – Not quite, but I had to stop and rethink my business. What I was doing wasn’t giving me the return of my investment and my gift. I had to stop and take those business courses – Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO), which I highly recommend, and do the homework to visualize where I wanted my business to be and how to make it grow. I had to stop playing at my business and be about my business. Q – Are your clothes designed to fit a certain woman? A – I find most women enjoy wearing knits but have a hard time finding ones that fit. That’s where I come in; creating custom pieces that are made for the individual. MICHI Knitwear is for the woman who is fashion-forward, confident, creative, looking for a unique look, seeking to stand out; and may want to look and feel sexy.

Q- What is your ultimate goal? A- My Ultimate goal is to be in domestic and international boutiques and to have my pieces worn by celebrities. So for this issue, we’ve shined the spotlight on designer Michele Walden of MICHI Knitwear. You can view more of her collection and place your personalized and distinct order at: www.michiknitwear.com or by sending Michele an e-mail at: michiknitwear@aol.com.

Now you get there and the designer asks you to get dressed and wants to see the shoes you brought. “What shoes?” you reply. “I really didn’t know that I had to bring shoes.”

Also, carry thongs because most outfits For this article we are going to talk to the ladies. don’t look good with panty lines. Guys, we are going to give you love in the next issue. Until then, take notes.

Every professional has tools of the trade and those tools should follow you wherever you go. Let’s cover these things from head to toe and hopefully you will be fully prepared on your next assignment. Besides all the items we will mention, the most important thing every professional model should have is their COMP CARD & PORTFOLIO. You never know who you are going to meet and in this business, it’s all about who you know or may potentially know. 1 – Hair Products You don’t need to bring your whole arsenal of hair sprays, rollers and doobie materials. However, you should have a variety of hair clips, bobby pins and scrunchies. If the hair stylist is running behind (if there is one), be prepaid to do your own hair. Of course check with the designer because they are the ones running the show.

4 – Shoes, Shoes and more Shoes! Include heels – minimum height, three inches. Colors should be black, brown and white. They should be classy, funky or at least the latest styles. It would be a good idea to converse with the designer so they can point you in the right direction. 5 – Panty Hose Nothing fancy, natural skin color will do. 6 – Make-up I don’t know how many times I have told models “please bring your own foundation and know how to apply it.” Most good make-up artist come close as possible to your skin complexion but you should not always rely on them. You should have foundation and a variety of lipsticks, eyeliner, blush & clear nail polish (which is also good for stopping runs in your stockings.)

2 – Jewelry It’s always a plus. Again, you don’t have to bring 7 – Miscellaneous all the bling, but custom jewelry such as necklaces, Items such as lotion, nail clippers, glue (for those i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

with press on nails) and so forth should follow you where ever you go.

So, take this advise and be prepared. It’s always better to have the knowledge than to say “Ahhhhhh, I didn’t know”.

Now you know!!!

Interview By Nichelle Nelson

A

s she walks in the door and sits down for the interview, all those around stop whatever they were doing and quietly whisper “Who is that? My God she is gorgeous!” “She must be famous.” “I know I’ve seen her someplace before.” But she gives no ego. Instead, this classy young lady sits and gives a smile that makes you feel as comfortable as you do in your own home. Born in the Bronx, this Latina of Dominican heritage is one of the most sought after models in NYC. After our talk, we thoroughly understood why. Ladies and gentleman, I introduce to you Maybelline Canela. Q. Maybelline!?!? Really? How did that happen? A. When my mom was pregnant with me, she was watching TV eating grapes, (now we know why I love grapes so much.) The Maybelline commercial came on and my mother jumped up with the biggest grin and wrote the name down. She didn’t even know if I was a boy or girl yet! It would have been embarrassing if I was a boy with that name. I told her if I would have been a boy, it would have created a whole lot of issues! (Laughs) I love the name though, and I thank her for it. Q. I’m pretty sure you hear many comments about your name. A. Yes. Wherever I go everyone I know has the urge to sing the commercial song for some reason... Maybe it’s Maybelline! Q. How old are you? A. 18 Q. When is your birthday? A. November 18th. Q. That would make you a Scorpio right? A. Yes, I’m very, very, very passionate!

Q. How long have you been modeling? A. For about 4 years. Q. How tall are you? A. 5’9. Q. Do you wish you were taller? A. Yes, I definitely wish I was taller. Q. How tall would you prefer to be? A. I would have liked to be about 5’ 11but I’m thankful for being at least 5’9. Q. I hear you have a medical condition that prevented you from getting taller? A. Unfortunately yes. I have a medical condition called Scoliosis. Scoliosis is when the spine curves from side to side, like an S or a C. My spine is shaped like an S. Q. Does it bother you much? A. Not really. I take it one day at a time. Q. How did you first get started in modeling? A. I started out going to the Barbizon Chique School/Agency. They taught me a lot but after a while it was time to move on. Q. Do you ever look back at some of the things you’ve done and say “why did I do that?” A. No, because I say that everything happens for a reason. If it’s something bad then I am also glad it happened; because I learned from those mistakes. Q. I also heard, at one point you were considering quitting the business? A. I have a huge passion for what I do and I’ve worked hard for everything. Modeling and Acting ARE my dreams, goals, and my life. I love to fight hard for what I want and with clean hands as my family would say. I don’t quit until I accomplish what I’ve been fighting hard for. But at a certain point in my life, I did consider quitting. At the time I felt that I wasn’t

i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

going anywhere with what I was trying to accomplish with my career in Modeling and Acting.

A. Yes. Victoria Secret models are my favorite. To be a Victoria Secret model is also one of my goals.

Back then, I truly felt that I hadn’t met the right people yet unlike now. I cried a lot to my mom and it got very frustrating to see that I was reaching high for nothing. It broke her heart to see me hurt, but she also saw my determination and told me not to give up.

Q. What is your ultimate modeling goal? A. To become a famous Top Model and a role model to everyone else who is trying to be one.

My mother’s support helped and gave me the strength I needed to continue pursuing my dreams. I always tell myself, my dreams are fueled by my passion,” and I stick to that mantra.

Q. So you’ve worked with several great photographers, did you have any bad experiences on photo shoots? A. (Laughs) Yes I did. I once had this photo shoot in Philadelphia with a designer. I loved her clothes. It was really hot outside and for this shoot I had to climb really high rocks.

Q. Are you working more now? A. Yes, now that God has put my agents William Michael Reid and Lloyd Crawford in my life, I am definitely heading in the right direction. I seriously couldn’t ask for more. Q. Tell me about some of the work that you have done. A. Oh I’ve been blessed and really busy! I was a Presenter for the Hispanic Choice Awards in Pennsylvania. I’ve modeled for Couture Fashion Week with Andres Aquino. I’ve also modeled for Designer Henry N. Jackson, Michele Walden and I am the main model for designer Vaughn Jereaux. The list goes on and on. If you want to learn more about me and what I’ve been doing, you can visit my website at www. maybellinecanela.com. Q. So how do feel about your management team? A. They are GREAT! They are the best thing that has happened to me. Truthfully, I do not move a finger without my managers’ approval. They know this business and I know they want only the best for me. In this industry you have to be really smart, quick, and know what you want. I also think that honesty, loyalty, and trust is what keeps us closer. I don’t know how else to thank them for everything they’ve done. Q. Do you have a model or models that you look up too? i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

Let’s talk a little about your pictures in your portfolio...

I got really sick and almost fainted a couple times. It turned out to be really embarrassing because they wanted to call an ambulance. But I kept saying no so they could see that I was strong enough to continue with the shoot. After a couple of minutes of trying to be brave, my breathing started getting heavier and I couldn’t stand up. So we stopped the shoot earlier than expected. However, I did get the best picture out of that shoot! Q. Looking at your book, it seems you’re always changing your style. Why is that? A. Yes. I always want to take my style and shoots to the next level. I love going all out and using my imagination the best I can. I like to climb things or just try crazy and different ideas. I just want it to be different and better each time I have a shoot. Q. Do you always need a full team such as make up artist, hair & wardrobe stylist, etc.? A. I’m working on a movie called “Fashion Police” and also a play called “Shades of Darkness.” I’ve also done some videos and other small roles. Q. Are you taking any formal training?

A. Yes. I’ve been taking training classes for a while now. I took many training classes at Barbizon Chique School/Agency by different coaches and Actors. I’m also taking classes at HB studios. Besides Barbizon and HB studios, I have had other great coaches that are amazing like Director Steven Williams and Wendy McKenzie. Q. What did you get out of those classes? A. The success has been great with my classes. I’ve learned so many things that I wouldn’t have learned by myself. The advice of others has really helped me professionally. Q. So, are you in a relationship? If Yes (how’s that going) If No, why? A. No, I am not for now due to the simple fact that starting a relationship is too much for me. I can’t afford the stress. I also don’t have the time for it and not having time can cause pain in a relationship.

A. When people want to give up on what they love. Life has so much to offer. I believe that God is the only one that chooses where to take our lives and our limits. Live life to the fullest because you only get to live it once. I feel I honestly have experienced enough to say this and believe in it. Q. What turns you on? A. (Laughs)Ooh I have many but prefer not to talk about it. Too revealing! Q. Do you work out? A. Yes I do. I love working out, staying healthy and in shape. Q. How often? A. Well, I do have a personal trainer who is also my close friend. I try to work out at least four times a week. If not, I try to go as much as I can.

Q. What do you eat to maintain a healthy diet? A. I love salads! Salads are the main thing I eat and I keep myself in great shape by also eatI don’t want it to affect my caing a lot of vegetables, fruits, reer, myself, or the person with and seafood. I am really picky me. To be honest, I love being with what I eat so I stay away in relationships but I guess I’m from red meat. I did starve myself a lot and made myself throw-up. I started realizing it was a mental complex; and with my family and friend’s help I slowly got rid of it. I completely stopped when I promised God and myself that I was going to stop because I truly felt that it was a disease that was eating me alive.

Q. Wow, it sounds like you had a couple of things going on? A. Yeah, they kept me in the hospital for 1 week with treatment. When I got home, I stayed in bed for 3 more weeks without getting up. What an experience. I bet you thank God everyday!

Q. What turns you off about men? A. Tiny lips, no hips and no sense of humor. Q. Did you ever do something that you really regret? A. Yes and I prefer not to talk about it. Shhhhh, it’s a secret. (Laughs)

Look at yourself from head to toe.

·

See beauty inside and out?

·

Are there flaws you want to cover up?

·

What does your mirror tell you?

·

Do you feel good about yourself or does your stomach ball up in knots?

·

Can you proclaim there’s no image better than yours?

·

Does your body image look like a professional model or an everyday wanna be?

Apparently you’ve seen enough, so cover up that mirror that’s unable to straighten out anything you’re seeing in your reflection. Now it’s up to you to claim yourself as to what and who you want to be. i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

Not to say you have to starve yourself, but eat healthy and stay away from the junk food. Own your destiny without half stepping. Unfortunately, we’re living in times where people, most often, judge one another by appearance. Some may think you’re too pretty for a job then others may think you aren’t pretty enough. But if you want that job, keep going back and showing them what you have as long as the position is available. Either they will get tired of seeing you or admire you for your persistence, and who knows what can happen. A lazy model gets no work. Dedication, dedication, dedication. Most of you may think a pretty face and a nice body will get you where you want to be, but it may only get you into situations you will regret. You have to be prepared at all times. Have your comp cards and head shots on you while beating the pavement around town. Keep in mind that there are many reputable photographers who seek test subjects for new looks and will give you free photos for your time. If you’re turned away the first time or even the second, still go back to those recurring castings/clients. Requirements and model types are changing constantly because the modeling world is about to take a step back to the beginning when models were healthy, voluptuous types. Most of all, in this fickle business, love yourself, don’t take anything personal and keep pressing through the casting/agency process. Business is business and most importantly always follow the chain of command on every assignment. I was being nice this time. So for now, i-Fashion Peeps Miss Gotta Say It is signing off!

1 Peter 3:3-4 your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the warring of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self. The unfading of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

An Interview With one HOT Make-Up Artist

Pepper

i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

H

aving had the privilege to work with this beautiful and talented make-up artist, this was a young lady I felt all i-Fashion readers just had to know. Born in Boston and moved to Brooklyn when she was only days old, she considers herself a true New Yorker. Pepper shares with us some of her experiences as a highly sought after makeup artist.

with rules. I’m also an artist & I should be the one setting my limitations. I already had an intense love for beauty & fashion so I discovered my place in life was Make-Up.

Q - Tell us some of the things that you’ve done? A - I’ve done numerous amounts of Bridal shows, weddings, tons of editorial and independent films, a lot of fashion shows, Bio concepts for Fashion Week, Q - Hello Pepper, Can my own private make-up you tell us your real show cases. I have a beauname “I’ve learned to eat humble cookies, do my job ty blog that’s currently at A - Jeannette Lynae Bass and just look at the bigger picture at hand” 50,000 hits, I host a show called Lipstick Language Q - Exactly how did you every Sunday, I do ladies night out events, I’ve get a name like Pepper? done beauty pageants, make-up for performers and A -My attitude is really spicy, no holds barred, the list goes on. very edgy. On a shoot, you don’t need any season just Pepper. That does the trick :) Q - What do you feel is your best accomplishment? Q -I’m pretty sure you’ve heard all the jokes A - I’m thankful for everything I’ve done, but I about your name. don’t think I have just one and I don’t think I ever A -Yes! Too many! Nothing worth mentioning. will. I want to always feel hungry. Like I have to always out do myself and comQ -When is your birthday? pete with my latest accomplishA -August 2nd, Leo. I’m a Natural ment Born Leader! Q -How long have you been doing make-up? A -7 years, but I have always loved being beautiful and transforming my beauty. Q -How did you first get started? A -I was an art major in college, but it had too much structure and I’m a rebel. I needed something that wouldn’t have me stuck in a box

Q - What will be your ultimate goal? A - I want Composition Inc to be that go to brand. When you think of make-up and beauty, you think of me. I also want a boutique where all services can be done such as make-up, wardrobe, hair and just all those looks that I am capable of providing. Q - How did you come up with the name “Composition Inc.” for a company name? i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

When I think of composition, I don’t think of music. I think of school. Those old composition notebooks, that are black & white, and that’s me. I’m very black & white. I love it or I hate it. No in the middle. You either love my services or hate them. Composition Inc is either taking it back to basics or .. taking them to school. Q - So you’ve worked with several great photographers. Did you have any bad experiences on photo shoots A - AHHHH!!! I wont say I’ve had bad shoots because everyone is an experience. I’ve worked with models in the past on occasions, and thank goodness not often, who think they own the whole shoot & want to do everybody’s job, the stylist, make-up artist & the photographer. I’ve learned to eat humble cookies, do my job and just look at the bigger picture at hand!! Q - Looking at some of your work, it seems you’re always changing your style. A - Not necessarily changing my style but what I like to do is to use the same girl 4 times in my book and have them look like a completely different person in each photo. With my eye make-up, it’s about transforming and enhancing a face so that’s what I do... I let people scroll through my photos and by the time they get to the 4th photo I say “hey, did you know that’s the same girl?” They always reply “WOW, she looks different in each photo.” That’s what its all about... transforming and enhancing so I don’t have different styles, I just transform people. Q - How long did it take you to put your book together? i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

A - I don’t think it will ever be done. When I die, that’s when my book is done. I’m pretty sure the work I’ll be doing 5 years from now will be way more far fetched than what I’m currently doing, so my book is done when I’m done! Q - Who comes up with your ideas for your make-up on shoots? A - I actually come up with a majority of my concepts. I get crazy creativity and once I come up with an idea, I try to execute it ! Q - Did you take formal training? A - I am a certified make-up artist and I went to make-up school and took several make-up courses to enhance my craft! Q - Have you done a lot of weddings? A - Yes I like seeing the bride cry after they look at them selves and see how beautiful they are but I hate fixing all the runny mascara :) Q - What environment do you prefer; weddings, photo shoots or film? A - I like it all, but I love fashions shows and shoots. I feel like I always keep a piece of that with me. Q - Can you apply make-up quickly and accurately? A - I’ve worked in busy make-up stores which has trained me to be quick and accurate, but overall I give myself enough time to create perfection. Q - Do you have a signature look? A - For myself. I have a clean face, very flawless skin, smokey eyes and a dull lip, or the

opposite dull eyes and bold lips. All looks must have flawless brows :) For my models I love flawless skin and COLOR!!! Whether its lips or eyes. I am empty without color.

Q - What are some of your favorite products in your make-up kit? A - The HD Elixir from Make Up For Ever, FlashPots from Make Up For Ever, The HD Foundation From Make Up For Ever. Contouring Powder From Mac, Mister Light From Givenchy. The list goes on.

Q - What is your price range? A - My prices do vary depending on the job. I also teach courses. Go to my site and I have a full break down of my services and costs. w w w. m o r e c o m positionincplease. com Check it out!

Q - What is your favorite concealer? A - OMG! Full cover from Make Up For Ever. It takes you such along way and you can cover anything with that. You can cover all the dirtiest secrets with that product.

Q - What is a common beauty mistake that women make? A - I have so many but I think not taking care of there skin is one, wearing foundation that doesn’t match or wearing waterproof mascara. That’s just a few. Q - What product should every woman have in her purse? A - HD Foundation from Make Up For Ever. Flawless skin will take you way further than fancy eye shadow

Q - What do you recommend teens do to cover up problematic skin? A - I think Clear Complexion from Boscia is amazing. Its all natural, not harsh on the skin and targets all of your major concerns! Q - What advice can you give to young women who want to start preparing their skin in advance for a special event like a prom or wedding? A - Cleanse! Tone! Moisturize! Eye Cream! All steps are essential. Once you decide you want to wear make-up you have to take care of what’s underneath.

Q - What is the most important beauty advice that you can give women? A - Skin care comes first. Make up just covers the issue. Skin care corrects. You have to ask yourself, do you feel comfortable with hiding your issues or correcting them? i-FASHION MAGAZINE -SPRING 2010

A Designer’s Distress

The clock is ticking and she’s not here. Right now a no-show is my greatest fear. I know I shouldn’t be preoccupied, But all this waiting has me mortified. And other than that, will she fit into my dress? I’m going insane; this is such a mess. After all my hard work to go down the drain And for all my effort to have been in vain. A knock at the door, she’s finally here. I wait no more, but my time is still dear. She looks great and the dress fits. Looks like this will be another grand hit. To tell the truth, it was worth the wait Even if she was so very much late.
