Hall Of Light
This architecture model is inspired by the arch hallway of churches. The arch roof creates an extended vision for viewer, and it merges perfectly with the wall, creating no extended edges. One side of wall has slits with the same width, the other side is opened with rectangle windows of various size. The model is made mainly with white paperboard, and I used transparent plastic sheet for the floor to reflect the upper structure, adding a little more color in it.

motions of_ folding an origami crane (36 excerpted frames )
1) 手部動作出現頻率分佈 (以筆刷長度和粗細顯示) hand-gesture appearing frequency (shown by width and length of brush)
3) 1) 及 2) 之合併分析 combine analysis of 1) and 2)
4) 摺紙不同階段的手部高度分析 analysis of hand-gesture in Z plane (in different stages of folding)
I created several lines from the observation of my hand movements in folding the paper crane. The distance of the lines show the frequency of my hand appearing in certain positions. Then, I lofted two or three of these lines to show the flow of my hand moving from one gesture to another. This action is repeated until the combination of surfaces show the folding and turning of the hand in folding a paper crane. The other hand repeats the previous actions. However, because of the asymmetry of the folding movement, the outcome will not be completely identical.

This project starts from a nine-square grid, the side of each square is 8 centimeters long. I started with drawing rectangles with the width of 0 (which is actually just an 8 cm line), 1, 2 and 3 centimeters, all with the length of 8 centimeters. Then, I used points on the grid or rectangles as a center point or point of tangency to draw circles with the radius of 1, 2 and 3 centimeters. With the circles and rectangles overlapping and cutting each other, I redrew the sketch and the results can be seen in picture 2. I then used this sketch as the top view of my arichitecture model and started my design.

The areas divided by the circles and rectangles don't actually stick to each other, which reminds me of a holiday resort or a villa with different little houses or structures. I choose white and light wood as the main color of the architecture, in order to make people feel relaxed and fresh. I called it the "Vanilla Villa."

start
I follow the rules as above to contruct 26 kinds of alphabet bricks. I start from the upper left corner, if the same symbol appears twice or more in a row (eg: ---), and the symbol is ・, then it sticks together and grows along the y axis, if it is -, then it grow along the x axis. If the symbol changes, the unit rotates 90 degrees along the z axis and centers itself with the previous unit. The same process repeats as the intructions show above, and result in 26 different blocks, one block representing one alphabet.
I choose oak wood as the material of my Build-ing Words blocks, and I intentionally keeped the original wood color to add a little warmth to this toy.
There is no limitations on playing this set of blocks, you can play them as regular blocks and stack them together, you can also put certain pieces together to create words or sentences. If you want to add a little difficulty to the game, you can prepare a box (eg:10 x 10 x 10 cm), find a partner, and try to beat the other person by putting together as many words you can. As long as it does not exceed the box, you can elaborate your imagination. To excel this game, you need enough vocabulary and good spatial sense. Build-ing Blocks can be used to build and to read, it is the perfect toy for all ages. Enjoy!
