The Nocturnal Fantastic They agreed, sitting beneath a glass bridge, behind the vines, their voices echoing against the wall in front of them, that they enjoyed how the bridge filtered sunlight. They agreed in the enjoyment of watching students gather round newspaper clippings, talking amongst themselves. At night, in whispers, they agreed that the projection of silent films on the building’s glass facade provided a place for students to sit on the steps, relax and enjoy cinema. They agreed that the glow of the bridge drew students into the building. They noticed moths flying round the lights of the bridge.

View of theatre space A place for the enjoyment of quiet conversation at night. The bridge serves as both beacon for nocturnal students, a place of pause to sit and read between classes and a shelter from the elements.
View of bench behind the vines They sit beneath the bench, glad to be away from the noise of other students. The light from the glass bridge above illuminates the space underneath. The vines which grow on the side of the bridge provide privacy from students on the steps.
View of up lights [night] At night recessed lights in the ground guide nocturnal wanderers. The beams define the space as volume.
View of up lights [day] They stand around newspaper clippings embedded in the ground, gossip about the latest news and enjoy each other’s company.
