Jan. 22, 2023: On January 22, 2023, Mumbai's Orange Line achieved a crucial milestone when the 550-meter viaduct's final span was placed over Kasheli Creek. It is a significant accomplishment because Mumbai Metro Line 5 will feature the city's first Metro viaduct to be built over a body of water. The Kasheli Creek Bridge contains 15 segments and 13 spans, nine of which are submerged, and is 15 metres above the water. Afcons, a Mumbai-based infrastructure firm, used launching girders to deploy each bridge, which measures 42.23 metres. In 123 days, the company completed this challenging engineering task.

March 22, 22022: To avoid razing many buildings, MMRDA announced a new proposal in March 2022 that involved building a 3-kilometer underground track. The entire project cost will rise by Rs 1,727 Cr as a result of this revised phase 2 plan.
