WEEK 3 FOOTINGS AND FOUNDATIONS SITE 1 lot 6 CAFÉ The Lot 6 Café was made from steel, aluminum

framed

windows,

pre-cast

concrete columns and slabs. The control joints are used between column and slabs because of the stability and in order to avoid occur cracks in the concrete.

SITE 2 South Lawn — Underground Car park The car park is very attractive, the vaulted roof is made of many big reinforced concrete shells and it supported on short columns.

This car park is under the South Lawn. In order that trees in South Lawn can grow, the architecture design the roof like a big funnel and the can be planted above it. This part is hollow so that the root of trees can have enough room to

develop. Avoid the water will seep from the roof, the concrete is covered by a waterproof membrane.

SITE 3-OLD ART This building’s material is limestone. The vaults are held in place only by stones’ weight and gravity beside a little help for mortar.

SITE 4-ARTS WEST

This structure is made of hollow steel

members,

timber

and

glasses. The end of steel member is supported by a big stone and the bottom of the structure are also supported by many beams which are made of timber.

SITE 5-NORTH COURT UNION HOUSE The center of structure is hollow so the water can drain from here and it is a low point of the structure which pulls the structure down. The bottom of fabric

is

fixed

with

a

tension/compression ring and the other ring is anchored into the ground. The top edge of the fabric is pulled by guy cables which are supported at their high points by compression struts.

SITE 6-BEAUREPAIRES CENTRE POOL This site is a rigid frame. In a rigid frame system, applied loads and rain led to shear and bending forces in bolted joints restrict. Windows constitute the walls of the building

SITE 7-OVAL PAVILION

The oval pavilion use steel, concrete and timber. Timber is used as the roof overhang which covered by the steel wire gauze. Steel is used as a support in this construction. The internal roof of building has thousands of hole which can absorb noise.

SITE 8-ARCHITECTURE BUILDING This building have been constructed using pre-cast concrete and glasses. The wall is covered by many pieces of zinc mantel sheet.

The cantilever is constructed from steel and concrete as the framework.
