2020- 2022 SELECTED PORTFOLIO CUTSHEET

GEO-BEING

Theme: Data Center + Memorial Hall

THE NICHE - Waiting Room Renovation

Theme: Healthcare

GeoBeing is a data center embracing the function of a memorial hall, in which the information of the group of people in their afterlife is stored and presented through the space experiment. Three key elements form the essence of this project: the sun, the water, and the earth. With these elements, this project aims to construct an interaction between the information sources and the receivers. This interaction is based on the experience of the transition of ‘Time’.

VERTICAL FOREST

Theme: High-rise Residential + Vertical Farming

This residential project: Vertical Forest – Life in Between, deals with ecological environments, cultural diversity and food security. This project aims to explore a Semi-communal Lifestyle, in which the social fabrics created by communal spaces tie up and soften the scrupulous daily rhythm of the urban residents. A greenness utopia is made within this forest to explore a new urban communal lifestyle.

PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNER CITY

Theme: Community Marketplace

This project aims to fulfill the needs of diverse parties in the neighborhood. Scaffolding system is the key structural module in this design. The flexibility of the scaffolding modules allows them to extend from the project site into the neighborhood to create special moments in specific events. Different parties and classes in this neighborhood can find their niche in this mix-income market. Hence, the market becomes a vigor pump, a commercial and cultural vitality source to this neighborhood.

The Niche is a waiting room renovation project of UPenn’s counseling and psychological service center (CAPS). The project site expanded from the old indoor waiting room to the streetscape along Market St., aiming to conceive a more calming and welcoming atmosphere for patients with ‘Curve’ as the principal design element.

SONG - ChangShanTou Renovation

Theme: Factory Renovation + Resorts

The Chang Shan Tou Factory Renovation Project is in its schematic design phase, emphasizing the interaction between local traditional culture and the surrounding natural landscape. The project includes renovating the old sugar factory into a village cultural exhibition center and resort, and designing a reading lounge in the surrounding mountain forest.

URBAN PARK MICRO RENOVATION

Theme: Park Renovation + Installations

This art installation is a series of shell structures made from Chinese bamboo, palm tree bark, and steel. The construction details were developed based on morphological patterns. Upon completion, this urban park micro renovation project serves as a sustainable example with significant social benefits, including the preservation of traditional techniques, and commercial benefits for the underdeveloped town.
