Design of Riverside Teahouse at Dujiangyan River Basin of Qingshui River

Designer: Huang Yangyang Time of Design: 10.06.2017 —— 06.08.2017 Project Category: Personal project, Modern Landscape Architecture Design B course Examination Score: 90 Key words: Yin-Yang, Balance Design Area: 7000 m2, Architecture Area: 800 m2 Project Background: Dujiangyan is certified as World Cultural Heritage (inscribed on the world heritage list by UNESCO in2000.), World Natural Heritage(habitat of Panda), Important Historical Monuments under Special Preservation, National Scenic Spots as well as National AAAAA Class Scenic Spot. Dujiangyan demonstrates strong regional culture covering hydrology, water relics, theology of water etc. Mount Qingcheng in Dujiangyan is one of the birthplaces of Taoism making the connection between Taoism and Dujiangyan unbreakable. This project is located at the Qingshui Riverside, between new and old city, in the middle of Dujiangyan and Qingchengshan scenic spot. Function of this area is monotonous thus existing value of this area is relatively low. But with profound cultural background of Taoism, the great potential is undeniable. Design Concept: Inspired by the concept of one pond surrounded by hills in Chinese classical garden layout and the Tai Chi logo, architectural shapes are accordingly designed with the concept of balance of Yin and Yang. Design Description: Take Qingshui River as the pond, build three hills based on the topography to form the structure of one pond surrounded by hills. The region will be divided into several areas for people of different ages. Viewing platforms and ecological floating islands can be built at best viewing positions; mist-filled landscape can be realized taking advantage of rainy summer and large temperature difference. Architecture will mainly be modernized style cut based on Tai Chi logo to form Teahouses.

Sunlight comes from south side, thus functional areas in the south is designed for customers. Kitchen and storage rooms are located in north for the quality of food. Architectural structure can take full advantage of abundant water resource, conforming to Shan-shui Culture. Areas in the northeast direction should be designed open for better ventilation because there exists northeast wind in Dujiangyan.

Mist-filled Landscape

I will try to sense the aspect of landscape and architecture from a natural and artistic point of view, to perceptually study modern landscape architecture through the marvels of nature and humanistic art and to finally rational do the analysis.

Mist-filled landscape implies fairyland on earth. Change of solar radiation, difference of water temperature, with glass walls around, vapor comes out as the thermal cycling goes.

Dynamic Space The Dujiangyan Lidui park, a visually pleasing location, best viewing areas of the project.

the pond is the Taiye Pool. Penglai: close to water resource, plain topography, landscape installation to be set, deep color plants to be planted. Implies a long living life. Fangzhang: Valley topography, broad-leaved evergreen forests in majority, demonstrates peace. Yingzhou: filled with grass, flowers and shrubs, meaning life.

Old residence community almost abandoned.

Thus, in my design, I will perceptually sense the scenery from everything to nothing and design the architecture from nothing to everything.

Chengdu Jinsha wetland park planning

Designer: Huang Yangyang Time of Design: 15.08.2017 -- 10.10.2017 Project Category: Personal Project Plan Area: 200000 m2 Key word: Ecological Restoration Project Background: Chengdu has developed rapidly in recent years, but its economic development is often accompanied by a series of ecological problems. They are air pollution, severe winter smog, ecological degradation, serious soil erosion and a large reduction of green space. The Chengdu government plans to connect six lakes and waters around Chengdu, eight ecological wetlands, to build a 28 square kilometer water system and a 105 square kilometer loop of the ring. Planning Concept: It is a landscape that enriches the site and replans the traffic in the site. It uses the collocation of different plant and put animal to restore intact wetland ecosystem, achieve the result of ecological restoration. Planning Notes: It has transformed the abandoned farmland into ecological wetland, aiming to create a landscape system for the construction of the riverbank landscape. The south side is adjacent to the urban residential area and implant some functional activities to create public space.

An exploration of a sustainable future for urban

1. "There is nearly no original wetland without being threatened by human beings in China. Wetland is very essential to the society. Without safe wetlands, there won’t be a continuously developing social economy. Immoderate opening up wetlands for farming is against scientific laws, while totally not utilizing them will go to the opposite extreme. We should take our time to research the management regulations, policy, evaluation system, and technological approach of wetlands. And ecological safety and health should also be paid enough attention to." 2. "In the wetland degenerated area, planting wetland plants such as reed, cattails, and tamarix chinensis can accelerate the restoring process of wetland plants. And we adopt planting technology to cultivate reed and cattails in swampland with high water line, ponding on surface, and available for ecological water supplying." 3. "The combination of dyke and dam forms the bank scenery an area of scenery belt. We provide vertical planting here, manage the dam and shoal, construct a belt-shape park, which facilitate the development of the city and the construction of new type of scenery."

Chengdu is constructing the “six lakes and eight wetlands” ecological circle around the city. For preventing increase of the city’s form, the project is located in the Jinsha wetland among the “eight wetlands”, in which there is the unique farmland wetland.

the Ground Turns to the Erosion of the River Bank "For an object of horizontal motion, in the northern hemisphere, the coriolis force is directed toward the right hand side of the direction of movement, in the southern hemisphere, where the coriolis force points to the left hand side of the movement direction." (Zumeng, 1985)

riverside landscape bank line

The original road is formed by the formation of farmland, and it has only the function of traffic.

2017 Because the river is affected by the deflection of the earth, the river on the north side of the site will have running water erosion northward.

eroding bank line

The original roads have a single, unbridged form, with too little entrance, and the farmland is restricted by road planning.

C

Without any protection of corrosion, if things continue this way, the original bank will be easy to lose water and soil. The resistant layer of ordinary sandstone materials is badly damaged after 100 years. The embankment of the new composite material, after 100 years of water erosion, is less damaged and the soil erosion control is good.

2117 After many years of erosion, the bank line will move northward, so the north river line will be wider, which might affect the landscape facility at the bank. eroded bank line

The planning of the site is a single ecological green space, which is rich in nature by combining with the landscape design.

2217 In order to make our design result last long, the bank should take corrosion resistant material, and north side of the bank should be lift higher.

The southern bank of the river has a little affection by the coriolis force, and it doesn’t need bank protection. As the linking part to the urban area, the northern bank of the river should be added with something like sightseeing platform. Besides sightseeing, the northern bank of the river could also be provided with some functions like scenery show for enriching the city.

Air purification

Wetland Plant Planning

Principle: the principle of industrial electrostatic precipitator can effectively precipitate particles. Trees have large canopy and dense foliage, and hairy or coarse trees secreting grease or mucus have a strong dusting force. SO2: After SO2 in the air and nitrogen oxides are in contact with water, it will form sulfuric acid and nitric acid. SO2 has moderately solubility in water, and it dissolves in water to form H2SO3, reacts with sulfite and eventually produces solid material, which can be used as the coating of haze wall. Nitrogen oxides: nitrogen oxide reacts with lye and reduces to nitrogen.

Build a terrain bubble system, which blocks line of sight and reduces noise pollution on the fringes of the native wetland, as a wetland protection barrier, it reduces the interference of native wetland biological, at the same time, it effectively improves the oppressive feeling brought by surrounding high-rise buildings.

Use different wetland plants to create a bubble water system, use submerged plant at the bottom of the water, and make a plants floating island with floating plants. In rainy seasons, it emerges the plant floating island landscape, while in dry seasons, it emerges the ecological wetland landscape.
