PEACH BLOSSOM SPRING Spatial Typologies Individual Work Instructed by Wang Xin Winter 2012
This project is an attempt to explored a way of architectural design starting from the study of Chinese traditional paintings. The name of this project is coming from a famous prose writing by the Six Dynasties poet Tao Yuanming. It tells of a fisherman, rowing past a blossoming peach-tree grove, who discovers a gap in a cliffside. Though it he finds his way into a paradisiacal world where the people live peacefully and happily in harmony with nature. The design is trying to create a series of spatial forms, each like an entrance to a different peach blossom spring island, which also constitutes a small world of its own, like a portrait of Utopia, seducing people who are passing by.

RED CLIFF Tea House Individual Work Instructed by Wang Xin Summer 2012
This project is inspired by a bamboo pen holder from the Ming Dynasty. In the traditional Chinese study literary utensils, a small ornament often condenses the singular thoughts of the literati and the immersion of the ideal world. It also completes the narrative of space and story, and the form implies the frame of consciousness in the architectural consciousness. The design intended to freeze the moment when a red houseboat was about to fly out of the water. It was an attempt to transform traditional culture into a contemporary architecture expression.

MU Commercial Complex Quanye Alley, Hangzhou, CHINA Individual Work Instructed by Ren Tian, Huang Li Summer 2016
This project explores the relationship between materials and spatial form, trying to integrate the two sides and make architecture design more experimental. Therefore, the design is started by the research and experimentation of wood lamination, including material tests and the production of structural models. In plan, units of wooden arch units merge to a various degree to form a differentiated assembly that contains open public exhibition area, interior shopping mall, separate studios, and other event rooms. In section, the alteration of vertical components creates three different types of spatial types.

The functional layout of the building is gradually changed from the first floor to the third floor, and from public to private. The arched outdoor space can be used as a venue for public events on the ground floor. On the second floor there is horizontal open space for commercial activities, and on the third floor there are private studios.

HOUSING AS SCREENS Spatial Typologies Individual Work Instructed by Wang Xin Winter 2012
This project is intended to create a housing form that fully combines landscape and can promote the occurrence of household activities. Extreme restrictions on the depth of the building, allowing the landscape and sunlight to fully integrate into the interior. The distribution of various functions is mainly spread in the vertical direction. The traffic that connected each residential area is connected through the polygon transformation provided in between striped housing complex including public service features and infrastructures.

LESS 17FW FASHION SHOW JNBY Chief Designer Curation & Stage Design Hangzhou, Zhejiang, CHINA Fall 2016
I worked as the chief space designer for Less 2017FW Fashion Show in JNBY. I created a 3D clothing display space by cutting and bending wooden boards. The set design of the show stage was an animated image recording displaying dramatic light and shadow effect rendered as a piece of deformed metal.

HAND-DRAWING MAPPING Vernacular Architecture Yang Keng Village, Quzhou, Zhejiang, CHINA In collaboration with Liu Yaojian Spring 2014
Yang Keng Village is located in the southern mountainous area of Quzhou City. Most of the existing houses were built with mud-wood and brick-wood structure, and a small number of modern houses with brick-concrete structures. In this mapping project, I drew sketch paintings instead of digital graphics. Thus I was enabled to vividly record the real-life details of the residents.
