Yanran Xu was born in China. As both of her parents have been engaged in the field of architectural decoration industry, they always introduce wealth of the latest concepts and up-to-date design trends to her . Under the influence of her parents and stimulated by her passion for design, she made up her mind to become an accomplished interior designer in the future. She got her bacher degree at University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, majoring in Interior Design. She is grateful for the knowledge she acquired throughout her undergraduate program, which equipped her with a basic background of the fundamental theories in related areas. After her undergraduate, she found a internship to responsible for assisting designers with drawing design, drawing the floor plan, elevation and section with software on the computer for convenient communication between designers and clients. This internship is invaluable to her, for it not only enabled her to learn practical skills related with design work, but also presented a chance to savor the sense of achievement and exuberant joy in design work, which stimulated her to continue design skills and knowledge. She looked for a bigger stage that can offer her opportunity to broaden her vision so that she can embrace more challenging tasks and demonstrate her ability completely. Thus, she made up her mind to strive for further study in America for her master degree. The Master program of Interior Design at this School, which integrates practical studio work with rigorous theoretical and written studies, holds great charm for her. It is her firm belief that it will definitely trigger her untapped potential in interior architectural design, and equip her with an abundance of knowledge and skills for her future career.
