HIGHRISE DESIGN mix-use of commercial and office This project lies in new area of Rotterdam where there are many stylish buildings. I hope this highrise could keep the city activite but not out of context. The form originates from the national flower of Netherland ,tulip and I hope it could convey the spirit of tulip, vivid, elegent. The lower part is for commercial use and the glass curtain and roof light provide sunlight. The higher part is for office use. The large balconies towards south are to provide more sunlight and meanwhile the sun shield could avoid extra sunlight. Details of the form aims at keeping it smooth. The landscape was also designed in the same way. What is more, the out door swimming pool on the top is for luxurious leisure with great view of the city.

THEATRE DESIGN The theatre lies near the city lake, adjoining the city centre. As a landmark of the district, it is supposed to distinguish itself and meanwhile keep harmonious with the lake. Consequently, the deformation and combination of topology shapes is applied in its form, symbolising the cobbelestone at the bank. parametric design is applied in the facade design. The gradient changing louvers add acativity and provide interesting contact between people inside and outside view. With an area of 0.75 hectare and a total construction area of 3,280 square meters, the theatre contains 540 seats inside, including 9 VIP boxes.

WILD FIELD CULTURE CENTER partenr: Tianyi Chen This culture center is about wild fields lives. There are an exhibition, a market, view tower and offices in this building. The shape of building is like a swan swimming in such beatiful wild field. The facade of the tower is parametrically influenced by sun effect, which is eco friendly for environment. The market roof is like fluid flowing into the building, of which cover is of various size, giving changing shadow in different time. And the circulation of museum is clear and provide interesting experience with constant contact of people and outdoor view. The groud floor is an open space to public not only for inviting visitors but also breath nature air of wild field. 16

PAPER-FOLDING MUSEUM This museum is on the outskirt of Xi'an city, Shaanxi province, which has long history paper art. The inspiration of the form is from papaer-folding. I tried to orginize the basic geomotry as triangle blocks. The exterior space is also formed by this triangle shapes, such as stairs and landscape. The museum contains exhibition hall, open air theater and several service programs. This leisure exterior space fills up the building surrounding. The museum is not only the building itself, but also an earth landscape.

ECO-EXHIBITION DESIGN This is an exhibition design which situated in Xixi National Wetland Park, Hangzhou. Interestingly, the plot is a small island on the lake surrounded by reeds. The design focuses on three aspects, namely, integration of architecture form and natural environment, amusing visiting streamline and sustainbility. The water-storage roof and the reed facade help the building keep eco-friendly.

BENDING INFILL partenr: Jiexu This project focuses on how to make urban infill possilbe with the basis of material and structure research, kerf-cutting wood. We see dense urban soace as an opportunity for design. Urban sports such as skateboarding ,parkour are becoming more and more popular and yet the spaces for these acativites remain limited. So the urban infill is our final target.
+
This programme requires an easily built system. consiisting of light-weight materials with the arim to provide the reconfigurability needed for the variety of uarban sports. Through the testing of light sheet materials , our rearch led to a patterning system that could soften the material allowing for bending and reconfiguration. Through pattern, tailoring and right angel connections, we are able to make the wood-bending space stand by itself.

PATTERN TWIST partners: Yue Pei, Ankkit Kummar ,Haris Mashkoor This project is a research about the material ,structure and fabrication. In brief, the whole process consists of 4 steps : 1. create a simple geomotry with digital modelling tool and flatten all pieces 2. tailor the each piece on lycra 3. decide the accurate pattern on the fabric(stich with dots and lines) 4. plater the fabric model under the control of pattern. after the basic practice ,the theme of our group is 'pattern twist', which means we try to create twisted form by controlling the pattern.

STALACTITE SIMULATION This research is about the simulation of stalactite based on MAYA particle system. Stalactite is a type of formation that hangs from the ceiling of caves, hot springs, or manmade structures such as bridges and mines, which is a quite unique natural form. The essence of this simulation is to understnad the behaviour of stalactite and then simplify the fomation process.

This project is ZAHA CODE WORKSHOP in Mexico in 2013. It aims at topology optimization by way of removing the material of the shell which hold the little weight. The fabricaiton is through the plaster the concrete in the mould which comes from thestack of model-contour panels with steel bar. It took around 10 days to finish the fabricaiton.
