PROLOGUE
THE AESTHETICIZATION OF LIFE
I believe the concept "emotional architecture". The life of building is its beauty, which is very important for human beings. If there are many solutions to a problem, one of them that conveys beauty and emotion to its users is architecture. -- Louis Barragan Architecture is the aestheticization of life by providing a media for the symbiotic relationship between nature and human beings. Every one of my pieces is based on perception, through a series of of investigations and studies, so as to extract inspiration from life. Through my study at China Academy of Art, a gradual process of understanding architecture is an indispensable part for me to develop a grounded and logical mindset. More specifically, from the initial study of materials to architecture design, it is a willingness to discover the transformation form of sociality behind a project which is the final moment of a complex system. In the end, my works in this portfolio try to express the design as a presentation to promote the development of architecture. Meanwhile, through these projects, I expect the existence of architecture not only to create beauty in people's life, but also to lead them to be aware of sociel science, including organic organizations and the problems they are facing.

ABOUT THE SCHEME: Research material: Bamboo Research contents: 1_Observe how the ink changes on the paper 2_Study the relationship between water flow and architecture 3_The interaction between people, natural environment factors and architecture 4_A performance inspired by architecture In general, people and environment both as necessary conditions, to a large extent, effect the development of architecture. It's interesting to argue from the opposite point of view. When a building rises, light, air and water are spontaneously associated with it. The generation of architecture can also lead people to do something unpredictably. These states support the topic to be discussed this time the unconscious performance art.
Unconscious Territory The dynamic continuation of the stroke “ONE”
Brushstroke We wielded brush unconsciously, the ink smudged into patterns of different shades on the rice paper. This seemingly spontaneous behavior reflects our subconscious understanding and expression of the aesthetic of flow. After that, we drew a long scroll and connected several small paintings above logically to form a picture with continuous dynamic beauty, which was used as the foundation of subsequent architectural design. It helped us realize the transformation from 2d to 3D.

Transformation from ‘2d drawing’ to ‘3d model’
"ONE" is the most balanced character in Chinese, it symbolizes equilibrium and leads to the occurrence of water separation node.
Taking two points as the basis of the model, different construction atmosphere is created through different construction methods of wall.
The three tracks form the layers of the device, bringing different sensory experiences.
Several tree branches become the backbone of the construction, guiding the existence of tributaries.

There are two sensory experiences for this architectural device. The first is the visually observed change in the amount of water that flows into the cup after being split. The second is the change in the sound of the brush being shot down as the ball rock tracks roll, hitting the side of the glass with water. The whole device combines the human feeling with water element, and drives the unconscious water movement to arouse people's conscious sensory experience.

The script/ [ Four-meter-high bamboo flutter in the wind, and the bells swing in the air to make a clear sound. Suddenly, the appearance of a girl in red break the peace. The elves who live here hurried back to the outside of bamboo space and watched the stranger. The girl is curious about her surroundings at the begining, plays with the hanging bells. Gradually, she becomes anxious and finds that she can't find her way home. The elves look at each other for a while, then they rush into the space, surround the girl, pull her clothes, and even try to put a mask on her that symbolize their identity. From struggle to compromise, the girl puts on the mask, takes off the bright red coat, and gradually blends into the environment forgetting who she was. ] Performing interpret: Girl——people/ Elves——atmosphere/ The change of the bell sounds——the interaction between architecture and people/ Bamboo——fuzzy spatial boundaries "Windlands" as an architecture is a medium that makes people intersect with the environment, it is also the physical expression of people's ideology and sensory experience.

After studying the background of plywood, we classified the performance of plywood and summarized four potential characteristics. Besides, some manuscripts were drawn as the basis for inspiration for subsequent design. Several schemes of furniture node :
INSERT -Triangular -Steadiness

INTERSECT -Repetition -Rotation
EXPANSION -Point and Surface -Mounting
CURVE -Multilayer -Mounting
CONTORTION -Multilayer -Irregular

Concept & Design About "Point" and "Surface" The thermal bending properties and the equivalent stress condition of plywood are what we focus on. The ultimate transfer of force will be done in this system. By taking points and surfaces as the reference items of architectural structure respectively, we listed several starting points : 1_Wooden chips can rotate on three axes 2_The number and location of points 3_The number of surfaces
The selected
Force points were increased from one to two; multiple beams were added between the surface and the supporting legs.
Basing on the actual bendability of plywood, we made a 25cm vertical section of the bottom shape and swap the left and right legs.
Finally, it was decided to use customized acrylic connected to the desktop as the form of the beam.

Fabrication process
TOTAL SIZE: 1400*700*750mm
STEP 1: Hot steaming & Glueing
Take three pieces of 4mm maple chips as a group, then immerse them in boiling water for 10-15 minutes until the chips are soft and easy to bend and shape; repeat the four groups to form a table leg. Evenly apply the wood glue to the surface of interlayer of each chip, then scrape off any excess glue, push the wood chips slowly from one end, and glue them into a unit. Wait a while until they can not slide easily.
13
STEP 2: Fixed molding
The end of four hot-bending units(14mm width) are clamped i n to t h e m o l d i n t u r n , a n d another end is fixed in four slots by a pair of comb-shaped molds to determine and maintain the curved shape of each piece; Use several clips to firmly clamp the unit from the bottom up, and squeeze out the gap so that each piece of wood keeps the curved shape and the layers is tightly layered. Wait for the glue to set on each unit, then the mold is finally able to removed and one of table legs is done.
STEP 3: Structure shaping & Replication
Due to the errors in the manual manufacturing process, the bending degree of the legs may not reach the ideal state, which will affect the overall shape and the structural system. Therefore, after initial fixation, the hot steam is still needed for abou 30 minutes to soften the table leg. Cool for about 12 hours before removing the mold, then polish the leg.
14
Fabrication process STEP 4: Connection & Positioning
Position two opposite table legs, glue t he over lapping parts, and pierce holes at both ends to prepare for bolt fixing; Place blocks of the same width between the overlaps and hold them together with F-clips for 12 hours. The completed two pairs of leg joints are fixed with the bottom plank and the comb-shaped mold to make sure the eight structural units keep the same distance at the same level .
STEP 5: Structural completion
Precisely locate and integrate the prefabricated acrylic sheets into the glass tabletop. Then use the whole upper structure to clamp the legs by matching acrylics and wooden units in the punching position, lock them with bolts. Finally, the table is made. It is both artistic in appearance and durable in use.

Architectural typology: The church design Design period: 10/2020---12/2020 Operating mode: Individual work Content: Architectural design Original course time: 10/2019---12/2019 senior year first term Course title: Topic 10 Content: Perliminary investigation Operating mode: Team work Team members: members : Yao Zheng 1021691515@qq.com Lili Qu 971239554@qq.com Qi Lin 1036816713@qq.com Xinye Guo rachel98210701@gmail.com
ABOUT THE PROJECT: The project is a continuation of "Natural Construction". Due to the high maneuverability of plywood in the construction process, the design can be more flexible. The cloud-like form of architecture symbolizes transformation and freedom. And this concept is expressed in the contrast between different layer as well. I hope this project can strengthen user's cognition of spatial elements and help them find a way to have internal interaction with architecture.
Blindfold spatial perception Several types of spaces:
Light in space:
Spatial gradient
Spatial chiaroscuro relation
The light coming through the cracks
Curved sky light
19
The basis of the design concept: Height and brightness in space Space modulus generation:
High and dark
Low and bright
Space echo
The changes in space correspond with the formation of light, their interaction is flexible and free. Thus, I used the form of clouds as a reference for the generation of the whole building.

menbrane connection
The metal connecting parts are embedded in advance at the connection of the wooden structure. While the metal parts are connected with four wooden structures, the universal axis balls are fixed at the bottom and the lower wooden members are connected. The structure at the bottom of the rod piece is suspended to form the mesh frame and the membrane structure attached to the bottom of the mesh frame. 21

As the roof of the church is a flexible structure which plays a role as the core of the whole building. It is important for the user to directly feel the benefits that the strcuture brings to the space. Therefore, the wooden parts converge here, penetrating the three layers. Due to its recreational function, the form of upper layer is more free.

I compare the membrane structure to a cloud, hoping the structure is not only as translucent as a cloud, but also brings unpredictable changes to the space like a cloud. 26
Architecture of Deconstruction The source of light throughout the church is from the openings of the membrane and the surrounding floor-to-ceiling glass. The membrane are mainly opened in the entrance and leisure area. The interaction between the first floor and the upper structure layer is generated when the light is introduced. This diagram deconstructs the building, explaining detailedly the connections at each node throughout the project. The deconstruction focuses on the considerations between the timber frame, membrane structure, glass, and ground.

The riddle of the city
---The future urban planning in the epidemic period Architectural typology: Urban design Design period: 08/2020---09/2020 senior year summer vacation Operating mode: Individual work Designer's email: Yao Zheng 1021691515@qq.com
ABOUT THE PROJECT: As a result of the epidemic, people's lifestyles have changed dramatically. We are forced to keep distance from each other, which brings a lot of inconvenience to our life. In addition to abstract macro statistics, the striking convergence of global cities has forced us to start thinking and trying to truly understand how we should analyze and understand the interaction between cities, buildings and their residents in the context of the inevitable impact of the outbreak of epidemics. The way we choose to shape cities, buildings and public spaces is actually linked to and ultimately decisive to many facts.
Background in design Epidemiological History Throughout the course of history, disease outbreaks have ravaged humanity, sometimes changing the course of history and signaling the end of entire civilizations. Although in daily life, it seems that large-scale epidemics rarely occur, throughout human history, epidemics and humans have gone hand in hand.

Urban conditions Yangliuqing, located in Tianjin, China, is the cultural and political center of Xiqing District. The COVID-19 outbreak in China has spread from Wuhan to all corners of the country, and now there are many cases in Heilongjiang province, China's northernmost province. Tianjin city, as a major route, is facing a huge epidemic crisis. Yangliuqing is still developing and not ready to fight the epidemic, so new urban strategies are needed to protect people's safety on the basis of preserving existing cultural traditions.

Before the design began, I set two different scales for the buildings. The structural unit scale of the basic building is 8 meters (a continuation of the scale of traditional local architecture) and the scale of the transitional space is 4 meters. In the process of urban fabric generation, due to site planning, there are three types of intersections. Architectural typology: Small-scale architectural design Design period: 06/2020--07/2020 senior year second term Course title: Design practice Operating mode: Team work Team members: Yao Zheng 1021691515@qq.com Lei Miao 1802557161@qq.com
ABOUT THE PROJECT: Although buildings are designed on a larger and larger scale these days, there are still some details in the public space that deserve attention. To some extent, smallscale construction can increase the interest of life and bring changes to the surrounding atmosphere. This project focuses on the everyday behavior, sitting. The aim is to combine human activities and architecture in the most intuitive way through the change of space.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: As an integral part of the building, materials influence the inner space and the sensory experience of people in the space. The subject of synthetic materials started with the study of various materials. After doing some researches, we tried to combine traditional stone with modern concrete. In this project, we used different scales of stone to achieve the synthesis of materials. The arrangement of hollowing was designed to show the diversity of the house facade, while the concrete was used in the gray space. These materials have different functions in the house.
