EXPERIENCE Feb. 2014 - Jun. 2015

ABOUT ME I grew up in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, China. In 2008, I made the bold move to Penang, Malaysia for my undergraduate studies, majoring in urban and regional planning at the Universiti Sains Malaysia. I worked on brownfield redevelopment, EIA, Local Plan and Special Area Plan for City Council. Four years on, I packed my bags and headed for the UK, where I studied in the Department of Landscape at the University of Sheffield. During my short and challenging one year journey in pursuing my Master of Art Landscape Studies, my Landscape Design Project work had been adopted by the Site Gallery as part of the consultation to redevelop Sheffield Hallam University. Having studied postgraduate and undergraduate degree in different majors and countries, I have acquired many professional skills and the ability to work with a team of individuals from diverse diciplines and cultures. After graduation from UK, I moved to Singapore to start off my exiting and challenging career as a landscape architect in Tierra Design. During my work, integrated designs are created by applying the skills and work with a multidisciplinary team. For me, passion is the key ingredient to being a successful designer. At the same time, it is essential to create responsible design with a holistic vision. In this way, the deisgn philosophy is to go beyond clients expectations to generate excellent designs.

THE SANDBOX

01

A sandbox is an ever-changing, transient space – a primal symbol of creativity and play which every individual irrespective of nationality and race relates to. Allowing for its scape to shift and change, a sandbox holds impressions and marks left by every user creating a collective expression. The form of the pavilion is a play on the idea of a sandbox with the sand forming the ground plane and the box hovering above.

This beautiful site provides great potential to be a unique and special place to integrate community, sustainability, nature, luxury and efficiency. This style of housing development sets a higher standard in residentia development. The resort podium, located above the casino, is an example of seamless integration between architecture, landscape architecture and interior design. The design responds to the greenery of the City Botanic Gardens and the urban surroundings of the CBD. HANG ZHOU COMMUNITY VILLAGE

This beautiful site provides great potential to be a unique and special place to integrate community, sustainability, nature, luxury and efficiency. This style of housing development sets a higher standard in residential planning and construction and is an opportunity this masterplan cap- tures. By grouping the villas into clusters around a shared open space, commu- nities are encouraged to create unique identities. Pedestrian pathways link the communities together and provide the feeling of living in a park. A main access road providing access to each cluster is an efficient way to provide services, limit conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians and reduce overall surface pavements. Bio-filtration ‘streams’ along the main access road are a sustainable way to manage storm drainage and protect the natural environment.

DESIGN INTERPRETATION

CLUSTER INDENTITY

CLUSTER IDENTITY Grouping the residences around open courtyard spaces builds a sense of community and allows each group the ability to create a unique identity. Clusters may be situated around a pond, tranquil and reflective, allowing for pathways between the private gar- den gates and the pond’s edge or identified by a stream or canal around the central community space.

CIRCULATION

CIRCULATION The main access road provides a separation of vehicles from the interior of the site and is the connection for each entry to the basement carpark, focusing traffic to centralized locations. Pedestrian circulation links each cluster to the next and to the golf course.

PARKING SYSTEM

PARKING SYSTEM The central spaces include open penetrations to the carpark level which will have curving stairways to the sunken gardens below, creating an elegant and useful circu- lation link to the parking level. The tree canopy of the gardens will reach up above the pedestrian level to add another dimension to the community spaces.

LIGHT WELL

FIRE ENGINE ACCESS

DESIGN INTERPRETATION

LIGHT WELL Light wells provide vertial access between basement and ground level, as well as landcape space.

FIRE ENGINE ACCESS Part of the walkways and open space in community courtyard also function as an EVA route and landing area.

WAVES MEET MOUNTAINS

Situated in close proximity to the Shenzhen Harbour and the Big South Moun- tainous region to the North, the fluid and free flowing forms of nature provide inspiration for the landscape design for Shuang Xi Phase three. The design ideas for the development lie at the intersection where waves of the sea meet the cliffs and troughs of the mountains. Integrating this relationship onto the site, the designs reflect a park as an undulating landscape which flows and meanders from space to space. As the landscape rises and falls, twists and turns, pockets of spaces of varying scales are created, each with their own identity and programme.

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE AND AESTHETICS Landscape design integrates harmoniously with the architectural design and logo. The main elements of the master plan and landscape design are Wflowing lines, which respond to the facade of the tower. In addition, the variation of greenery over the entire site creates a different hierarchy of space, such as open, semi-open and enclosed space, thereby resulting in a varied spatial experience.

FACARDE

The project is located in Shenzhen, the most prosperous international coastal recreation area. Located at the north of Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, east of downtown Shenzhen, south of Shenzhen Bay and Hong Kong SAR. Strategically located between Zhuhai, Macau and Hong Kong, it enjoys three quick and convenient mode of transportation by air, land and sea. Being the top residential area in the Sea World area, residents enjoy rich natural and man-made resources, it’s the ideal choice for living.

BEAM REGULATION CONSIDERATION

VENTILATION Light well serves to refuce the necessity for electric lighting, add a central space within the building, and provide an internal open space for windows to give an illusion of having a view outside. Most of all, it improves the ventilation for baement, especially car parks.

SITE MATERIAL: COVERS High albedo covered walkway would be light in color and will reflect sunlight away from the surface. With less sunlight absorbed, less heat is radiated by the material. It reduces the urban heat island effect. This reduces cooling cost, helps the survival of urban vegetation, and improves air quality, which reduce the symptoms of some respiratory diseases.

HARDSCAPE MATERIALS Pervious pavement is typical designed to treat stormwater that falls on the actual pavement surface area, but it may also be used to accepet run-off from small adjacent impervious areas, such as impermeable driving lanes or rooftops.

MICRO-ECOLOGY PLANTING DESIGN Thanks to its location on climatic crossroads, HongKong boasts an amazing diversified fauna and flora on a very small piece of land. Our aim is to highlight this fact in our landcape design by creating diversity,
