ARCHITECTURE INSTITUTE FLOWER MARKET AND FUTURE HABITAT BHUTAN- RELATED STUDY PROGRAMME


01 LIGHT

BOX

This project was all about understanding the need of light in a building. This project delt about the understanding the light and shadow. Light is the important element in the house as it is a giver of all presence.Light which has been spent, and this crumpled mass called material casts a shadow, and shadow belongs to light. Light is the maker of the material, and material’s purpose is to cast a shadow. A case study of Doriana e Massimiliano Fuksas Church in Folingo was done to understand the light and shadow works in a building. It was designed by architect Massimiliano Fukas and his wife Doriana Fukas. The later exercise was to make modules to further more undertand the different ways of getting light inside the building. This exercise was delt to understand the amount of light that an individual space needs and the type of light that a space requires.

PLAN

The light box exercise was to understand the light coming inside a building by making models. It helps you understand how to bring the direct and diffuse light. At basic level it was square form light box to explore a light in a box than further the forms got elvolved according to the understanding of light inside the model. It also shows that even a shape of a building matters for the light to give it’s effect.

02 MANABE HOUSE - TA DAO A N D O This project was about understanding the spaces and connections inside the house.It was about understanding the spaces created inside the house. Each space has a different function of its own. The “Manabe House” designed by architect “Tadao Ando” is fully made of exposed RCC. Tadao Ando works with special type of concrete which is as smooth as silk created by himself. He normal works on huge spaces with play of light and wants his buildings to be get conected to the nature.

MANABE HOUSE

The house consists of master bedroom, bedroom, dinning hall, kitchen, guest room and children room. There is a central curtyard which brings the light inside the house and the glass panels also helps to bring in the light. The house is made of exposed Frame structure of beams and coloums. After getting to know about the house the addition was to the part of the house or the other house was made of same ideology used the by the architect in the building.

03 E X P E R I M E N TA L LEARNING CENTRE -IDAR

This project was about understand the relation of building with the context and the climate. As the topic suggests the building was made to evolve something new from the old traditional.

DEVELOPMENT

The building was to be designed at Idar in Gujarat. The basic idea behind this project was to create a visual axis between the temple and the mountains through the building. The building consists of Workshops which is for the local as well as visitors to learn to make dolls of wood and steel, it also consists of studios and library, cafetria, deck to enjoy the scenes near the kund. The fins are used to bring the diffuse light from south - west direction.

04 ARCHITECTURE INSTITUE This project was about understand the spaces and functions of an architectural institute. The site was Sal campus itself. It was a live project,the building was to be designed according to the norms of the building codes. An architecture institute consits of large spaces of studios, library, photography lab, model making, and workshops.

06 F U T U R E HA B I TAT -RHINO

This project was about understanding Exploring the new world how would it look after it is on the verge of existance. It was abract idea where two rivers flows and acts as a central gravitaional core through the residence and humans could experience a new lot of thing. The project was made in the Rhino software. The exercise also helps to explore different materials to be used in a pysical model. The future habitat would be not stable as it is right now.


07 FLOWER MARKET -RHINO

This project was about understanding the improvement to be done in the flower market at Jamlpur Bridge, Ahemdabad.

FLOWER MARKET

The project was made in rhino software . The exercise also helps to explore different abstract design for the building. The pros and cons of the surroundings to which the design can be inculcate. It had 32 shops of flowers. The pargola here design as roofing and representing the flowers by the sellers. The space behind was contoured for the flower sellers which used to sell on roads to the transpoortation becomes easier and traffice is reduced.

08 B H U TA N -RSP Bhutan Rsp was all about understanding the bhutanese traditional architecture. The places we visited in Bhutan were Paro, Thimphu, Royal Collage Of Bhutan, and Tigersnest. The measure drawing of the traditional houses of Bhutan were done. The most characteristic feature of bhutanese architecture is the use of wood as a buiding matrial. The roofs are entirely made of wood with perfect wood joinries. It was a group work and each person was aloted some kind of work. The walls thickness are much more than the normal walls and some of the walls gets reduced in thickness as the height increases.

09 M U M B A I , D H A R AV I -RSP

Dharavi Rsp was all about understanding low cost housing. The workshop was organised by “Urbz�the organisation which focuses on the connection of Dharavi with Mumbai . The workshop was about understanding the connection between Mumbai and Dharavi. It was also about knowing about the life of the people living in Dharavi. The worshop was also about knowing how to work on micro to macro scale.

09 DAY B E D C HA I R -HANS J WEGNER

This mid century daybed was designed between 1954 and 1955 by Hans J, Wegner and manufactured in Denmark by Getama, the frame is made of oak and the cusions are covered with a petroleum coloured wool fabric. This item remains in good vintage condition.
