OLD AGE HOME Station road (NH-228), Asha nagar, Navsari, Gujarat 396445 Bachelor of Interior Design department Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Surat, Gujarat, India
01 INTRODUCTION 1.1 INTRODUCTION An old age home is made for old aged people who have not residence or shelter also they are alone and not stay with their family for their own personal reason. That is our design challenges that we designed old age home in that way that they all feel that they are in their own house. Site is in Navsari near railway station. There are many hospitals near site so that that is benefit of site that provide us there facility near site. Total area of site 15300 sq ft. back side of the site is covered by residential area. Building is an old parsi residence built in 1915. For that reason, there are many old elements which site provides us. Site appropriates for old age home because of it is just ground floor only and load bearing structure. Building structure and its elements are old and used as a residence will automatically create a homely environment. Road in front of the building is 60 ft wide and secondary road through the side of the building is 14 ft wide which leads to the residence behind site has gnomons garden, which can be used as n advantages to site. Site is covered with trees like Neem, Boradi, Nagarvel, Bili patra.
1.2 AIM Aim of design old age home is in that way that all people are be happy and using easily without facing problems also that all space are connect with other space in a way that you can direct by space.
1.3 METHODOLOGY As site provide us old elements, garden, roof, courtyard. So that I can design old age home in way that at the end of design process we do not lose structure’s beauty. My concept is Traditional + Modern. For that I designed in way that I can take modern material and giving them traditional look. As I choose my concept there are many crafted things and furniture which I can do. Also, there are huge garden in front of site where I give some interaction activities, Yoga, Plantation and Walking pathway. In site we get arch on door and window. I design in way that all space is connect with all space and don’t miss out any views. Also, I used that type of element which are used in old house and traditionally use.

The main courtyard – with the badminton court on one side and the sit out on the other – offers ample open space for them to spend time in the open. Apart from the sit out in the courtyard, there are also three other courtyards and a small sit out carved out for each room (facing the main courtyard). The seasonal trees span the gamut – summer, autumn, and winter – and create the perfect outdoor space that invites people to spend time in the open.

Old age home concepts started as a solution to the problems of old people. The traditional elderly care is now transferred from family members to organizations. Many organizations are in elder care service with enough facilities to care old people. Now many people enjoy this facility to make sure their parents are in right hands and well protected. In old age homes elderly people have the chances to maintain their relationships with similar aged people. By interacting with the old ones was a good and emotional experience as they live in a place together with the people who came from different families, different areas, been connective for the rest of their lives with the stranger one.

03 SITE ANALYSIS 3.1 SITE LOCATION
3.2 ABOUT SITE Total area of site 15300 sq ft. · Back side of the site is covered by residential area. Road in front of the building is 60 ft wide and secondary road through the side of the building is 14 ft wide which leads to the residence behind site has gnomons garden, which can be used as n advantages to site. The building is an old parsi residence built in 1915. Proposing an old age home for the site is appropriate because it is a one store load bearing structure and as elderly people are going to stay here and creating multilevel structure can become an issue. The building structure and its elements are old and used as a residence will automatically create a homely environment.

05 CONCLUSION So conclusion of whole study is Previous studies in old age home focused on interior space and human needs in these spaces. As this used by old age people so that comfort is more important than aesthetics. Old age people used their free time on Satsang, pooja, talking with one another, walking etc. In old age homes elderly people have the chances to maintain their relationships with similar aged people. As all we know that it is huge area so that there are also staff member are stay in old age home so that I provide some space there for staff member in which they can do their work and sleep also. This staff area is near dormitory as possible because old age people had anytime emergency. Pooja area is more important in old age home as old people used to pray and give space near for gathering. I want to design in way that anyone come to old age home he/she felt welcoming space not just entry all space design in that way which surrounding plants. Also, they have many physical problems so that many of them are not able to see properly or walking so that we can provide such a space which can give more comfort and, in that situation, they can easily use that space. Also, space can help to do their activity properly. We must give less circulation time in our space connectivity.
