Yasmin Everley is a young British jewellery designer, born and bred in Camden, London. Her mother, Joy Everley, is a designer with an ardent following in Soho, and so she has been surrounded by jewellery for longer than she can remember. Working alongside her mother since the age of eleven has inevitably influenced Yasmin’s own designs. However, her degree in Classical Studies, combined with a love of the late 18th and early 19th century – the age of exploration and excavation – has provided the main source of inspiration. The Astrology Collection is inspired by the way our knowledge of science is interwoven with the enduring legacy of the classical myths. For her, the two are inextricably linked, thus creating both our personal identities, and the stories which form our cultural DNA.

Star Crossed Lovers: Gemini and Pisces In the Ancient Greek tale, Gemini represents the mythical twins Castor and Pollox. Leda was seduced by Zeus in the guise of a swan produced Pollox, son of Zeus, and Castor, her husband’s son. Despite one being divine and the other mortal the brothers were inseparable and chose to share Pollox’ immortality. Pisces was formed after Zeus had defeated his father Cronos and subdued the race of the giants, children of Gaia. In revenge, Gaia sent the monster Typhon to destroy the Olympian gods who transformed themselves into animals to hide. Aphrodite and her son Eros dived into the sea as twin fish which, in gratitude for borrowing their form, she later placed in the stars. The two signs are joined as a pair of infinite circles - considered by the Ancient Greeks to be the most geometrically perfect shape – and within each, a cluster of the stars accurately form the constellations, suspended in space by a delicate wire.

Capricorn Astrology Ear Studs In the Ancient Greek tale, when Zeus was born his mother, Rhea, had to conceal him as his father Cronos has eaten all of his previous children to postpone a prophesy of his death. The baby was nursed by the goat-nymph Amaltheia who Zeus, in gratitude, later placed in the stars to honour her.

Sagittarius Astrology Necklace In the Ancient Greek tale, Cheiron was the wise king of the centaurs and son of Poseidon. He tutored Heracles but was later mistakenly shot with a poisoned arrow by his former pupil during a conflict with a group of drunken centaurs. As Cheiron was semidivine and could not be killed by the poison he writhed in agony until Zeus took pity on him and placed him in the stars. The chain is a rope chain, reminiscent of both the sailors who have used these stars to navigate through the centuries and our coiling strands of DNA.

Taurus Astrology Ring In the Ancient Greek tale, Taurus is often thought to be the animal who sired the Minotaur after Poseidon caused Queen Pasiphae to go mad with love for the bull as a punishment for King Mino. He later became wild and had to be captured by Heracles for his seventh task. Taurus is also associated with the bull that Zeus took as a disguise when he abducted Pasiphae’s mother Europa. The ring has split shoulders which support two tiny black diamonds which represent the infinite darkness of the unknown.Â

Virgo Septum Ring In the Ancient Greek tale, Virgo is associated with the story of Demeter, the goddess of harvest, and her daughter Persephone. While Persephone was out gathering flowers, Hades abducted her and made her his wife. In her grief Demeter caused all the harvests to fail until Hades agreed to give her back for half the year and so the seasons were created. This faux septum is held in place by a simple, comfortable grip.

Aries Hair Crown In the Ancient Greek tale, Aries was the magical ram with the Golden Fleece who rescued two children, Phrixos and Helle, from their murderous stepmother, Ino. As he flew across the sea between Europe and Asia, Helle fell into the water which became known as Hellespont. His fleece was later stolen by Jason and the Argonauts.
