Assignment#1 Name of ass: What are my experiences with parent-teacher partnership?
Parents and teachers have a common goal which is a successful and a glory school year for every child, although no school could work well and be developed and be successful even it has the best administration or teachers if the parents and the teachers do not work or act in partnership and co-operate together even in the minimalistic possibilities but on behalf of the children’s interests. In this reflective essay about parent – teacher partnership, I will talk from my perspective as a parent taking in consideration that I am still not a teacher yet. From my experience as a mother for twins boy and girl having age eight and half, I believe that the parents have every right to understand and know what is happening to their children at school also at the same time teachers have the responsibility to share that information about children without harmful judgment to the
child or to the parents and such kind of communication which could only be in child’s interest is not possible without mutual and common trust between the parent and the teacher. At the beginning when my children enter the school and start the trip of education I was taking aside away and didn’t involve in their education until I touched the difference in their development when I start to swap and reciprocate the information and the knowledge about my children, from this moment I realized the importance of parental involvement in the educational of children which leads to the academic gains. The concept of parent involvement is not a new concept which was focusing on attendance, homework monitoring and signing homework and report cards to be sure that the student had shown them to the parents but nowadays it was turned to make the parents more active with their children to
have enough time to discuss their progress and achievement to reach together to the maximum benefits of the children. For me I am very interested to be as a volunteer in the idea of joint problem solving through a positive relationship with the parents and the teacher and I keep receiving and sending notes about my children to ensure that I am in the right track with my children in the educational process, also I found that when I was involved I could develop their social and emotional development not only their learning as I could know the weak and strength points of them for instance when they are dealing with their friends in class and outside if they are social or not . In conclusion, Parent involvement can come in many forms including assisting with homework, volunteering at school, sending and replying to home-school communications about student progress, so at the end I hope that every school trying to set on its orientation the impact of this parent-
teacher partnership regardless of how parent involvement is defined, it is vital to a child’s success not only at school but also in its future life .
